I remember that game well. I was there. Shockey's drop in the back of the endzone seemed pretty inconsequential at the time since there were only about 4 and a half minutes left in the 3rd, but it turned out to be huge. Instead of being 42-17, the FG made it 38-17 and left the door slightly open for the 49ers. Had Shockey caught it, there is no doubt in my mind that there wouldn't have been enough time for San Francisco to come back from a 25-point deficit, and the Trey Junkin bad snap probably never even happens.
The first Thursday night opener in NFL history. This game was scheduled as a way to celebrate the city of New York months after 9/11. The following year the Jets traveled to Washington to play the Redskins. Starting with the 2004 season the tradition of the defending Super Bowl champion on Thursday night began.
The Early 2000's Giants were so frustrating in these games. Prime Time, The Superbowl, Monday Night Football Sept 10th; 2001 ; the defending NFC champ Giants, get thoroughly beaten against Broncos.
I remember checking it off on paper, the 2000-03 NY Giants; Amani Toomer is a top 5 WR every season in receptions. Shockey was a beast at TE, Tiki is Pro Bowl, Kerry Collins could hang 42 points in an NFC Championship game, Strahan and the Defense is top 5 in fewest points...We're a SB contender right? right? NO. We are NOT; we are lucky to make the playoffs.
Was gonna watch the Steelers-Niners game you just uploaded, but damn nfl took it down..any way you can send it to me via wetransfer, etc..? Thank you so much.
The Giants offensive line was rather bad the year before and not much better in 2002. They were somehow even worse than 2001 in 2003. Poor guy got obliterated late in his career. Not saying he was the greatest but with his experience they could've gone far with him. They really dicked him in 2003. This is why Snee is terribly underrated.
ESPN's Sunday Night Football theme from 2002 to 2006 with "Touchdown" by Herbaliser is still the bomb.
18 weeks later the same two teams between the Giants and 49ers in the 2002 NFC Wild Card won by the 49ers, 39-38.
Demitirus Mcneal crazy game.
@@robsmith961 Gentlemen that would be this game found here: ua-cam.com/video/dGR88qJz6Do/v-deo.html

José Cortéz #6 (Kicker of 49ers) was the first Salvadorian player in the NFL #Proud.
I was at this game. I was so excited to see Steve Young in the parking lot doing ESPN for the first time.
2nd time in less than a year we played in that building and we won both games. (we were the Jets 1st Home game after 9/11)
Been looking for this one for ages! Had a VHS of it that got taped over. Thanks!!

Go steelers
#Back when football on tv was great
1:37:50 From EA Sports - Madden NFL 2003 with the Marshall Faulk (St. Louis Rams) cover in the video game.
The rematch of this game would be 1 of the wildest playoff games ever
Now I know what season the 2K5 presentation came from, looks just like it.
The 2000s we're doing things BIG
Damn, Matt Bryant is still playing to this day. I love his origin story
Daniel Albers FUCK Matt Bryant

Turnovers and offensive line play is what killed them
Eagles had better coaching (Reid, harbaugh, johnson, Childress, spagnuolo, Rivera , shurmer, McDermott , etc) defense, and special teams
How about that halftime roundtable?
After 911 networks started working with each other

2002 marked the first season of the worst era of all of football: The 2002 NFL Realignment (8 division format) (2002-Present).
Max Payne that’s just your opinion
+ Sourdough Bob Could you please try to find the Lions 49ers game from 2001
That’s crazy tgst it has the same presentation as the nfl 2k games
God I miss these days
The first NFL season opener on Thursday night
Sehorn’s final nfl season as a Giant
Also Emmitt Smith’s final season as a cowboy
If you have the 2002 week 3 Redskins 49ers, I will kiss the ground below your feet.
man cortez was garbage
during the season had an easy chip shot vs raiders to win in missed a damn 27 yd fg
In fairness, he redeemed himself in OT in that game and made FG to win it.
ROBERT Agayo before Agayo
The playoff rematch would be the complete opposite of this game.
If you can find me the 49ers redskins game week 3 2002, i will kiss the ground before you.
💯that was a great game!
The Giants DBs did their best to intimidate TO...it worked for a while but TO got the last laugh both in this game and in the playoffs.
Wonder why ole Jim never returned to coaching...
Do you have 2008 49ers at Arizona MNF ?
I was born 10/31/02
Xzavior Evans winner.
On Halloween 2002
Lol that was the last night I ever trick-or-treated in my life. It was my sophmore year of high school.
lmao fucking Giants special teams, the kickers they had from 2000-2006, goddamn lol
Was gonna watch the Steelers-Niners game you just uploaded, but damn nfl took it down..any way you can send it to me via wetransfer, etc..? Thank you so much.
S. Tavares I took it down. .mov file has no sound on UA-cam, trying to convert to .mp4.
ok..cool! said copyright when I tried playing it. Are u gonna upload it again?
S. Tavares fuck yes
NFL won’t let me upload it. Tried uploading Niners @ Eagles ‘89 too... also got turned away
Sourdough Bob Sorry to hear man. Any way you can send it to me via email or wetransfer?
LOL at southwest commercial
collins took to long to throw the ball!
He really had an unorthodox throwing motion like Philip Rivers
