You could say the same for all 11 guys on that side of the ball that year it was truly a magical season hell thanks to John Lynch we now have the most common called penalty in the ganw
That’s why he was first year Hall Of Fame selection. Him and Sapp both were selected in their first year of eligibility, rightfully so. It was so amazing that Brooks also got to cap this season off with the winning interception score to ice the SB. Dexter Jackson got the MVP, but really the entire defense could have been given the MVP for the super bowl and the entire season league MVP, if that were possible. Monte Kiffin’s defense were some of the most electrifying defenses to ever play the game. You always knew they were one INT or fumble away from a TD at any point in a game. Five picks in the super bowl and three of them for TD returns. I don’t know if we’ll ever see that again in a super bowl? I never seen any defense move as quickly laterally as Kiffin’s defenses did. Always swarming around the ball and some of the best ever at recovering fumbles on the run. Kiffin kept the Buccaneer defense in the top ten defenses in the league for more than ten years. I think that only the Steelers form the 70s did that before. Television did little justice to showing the speed of that defense. I remember going to some games where you could see the entire field and watching that swarm of red jerseys following that ball was incredible,
Dr. Martin van Nostrand I did see that one I actually prefer the longer versions tho with the pregame and other clips the NFL games usually don't have that
I think the NFL usually just edits out stuff like network promos and game breaks and stuff like that which loses its value in re-airs. They might also edit out the "starters on offense/defense" stuff.
Well the greatest show on turf was in '99 and the Bucs played them in the playoffs and held them to 11 points but were cheated. It was practically the same team in 2002 with I believe 1 or 2 of the players leaving I think.
This was not gsot anymore missing RT Fred Miller Az hakim Robert holmcolm kick returner tony Horne and many more this was the end and yes they did get cheated out of the Bert catch but still that didn’t decide the game we don’t know what would have happen if the catch stood they did hold them to six points and no I’m not a rams fan
Lots of future Hall of Famers in the game! Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks for the Bucs and Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, Orlando Pace, and Aeneas Williams for the Rams.
End of an exciting mini-rivalry. Started w/ 99 NFCCG and peaked with 2 MNF thrillers in 00 and 01 both won by Bucs. GSOT decline began this season, and Bucs would follow after their SB win
God from way up in the southern sky saw the eventual Super Bowl XXXVII champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers wear their pewter helmets, white uniforms and pewter pants and played an NFL game with the recent Super Bowl XXXVI runner-up St. Louis Rams in Week 3 of the 2002 NFL season, which was nationally televised by ABC. God knows it. God loves football.
This is a example of how football was higher quality in 2002 than it is in 2018. In 2002 the Bucs showed who was the better defense beating all comers including the overhyped Ravens. This was NFL football at it's best and I am still waiting for better play by any team in 2018. Sapp, Rice, Barber, Lynch, Alstott, Jackson, and Brook were the best to ever play the game as a team. Add to this Kiffen and Lewis, Reed., Boulware, and Porter were chumps. This game proves it.
Nicholas Ehrhart they were always the best play by play and color in the nfl even when working seperatst, but then when they started doing it together it was magic
Not quite. The Rams got back on track in 2003 and 2004. That was just another year where both Super Bowl teams (NE and STL) failed to make the playoffs. Unfortunately, that was also the case in 2003 when both TB and OAK collapsed.
Apparently we only face the Rams in the playoffs every 20 years. First, in 1979 (they beat us 9-0 at home); then in 1999 (they beat us 11-6). So, that means we should face them in the 2019 playoffs in the NFC title game.
In this era of football they hit harder played tougher defense still passed the ball well and I don't remember as many guys getting knocked out for the season back then as they do now. These days it seems like every week we lose a star to non contact knee and ach. Tendon injuries.
After losing the nfc title game to the rams in 2000, Tampa was three and one against the rams...Tampa was hungry and ready to win the super bowl that season and this was the beginning of the end of the greatest show on turf..right or wrong?
NIKO SAMUELS oh ok gotcha...even though this was a good game between the rams and bucs what went wrong for the rams and what went right for the bucs in the 02 season?
Sapp could have ended Warner's career on that block on Brooks' game-clinching pick six. Instead of destroying him he just shoved him to the ground, unlike the Chad Clifton hit later that year. Warner still mentions this play when he calls MNF games on the radio to this day - how Sapp took it easy on him.
1:30:00 Derrick Brooks looks at John Lynch lying on the ground after he missed an interception. The very next play, he is lying on the ground after making a play on the ball.
@@MikeP813 yes indeed...after the rams lost to new england in super bowl 36 this started to be the beginning of the end of the gsot...that team was talented but injuries and free agency hurt the rams in the 2002 season..tampa wasnt playing around during their super bowl run
@Mike P real talk and truth....even though im a new england fan since 1986.. tampa needs to get back to the playoffs this year i still remember to this day tampa had a 9-3 record leading up to the last four weeks of the 08 season y'all shouldve went to the playoffs and played pittsburgh in superbowl 43...what went wrong in that season?

So just that pesky Lions game remains. You know, during the Marty Morhinweig (sp?) years for the Lions, they went 5-27. The Bucs played them three times. All three games were decided by three points. The home game in 2001 against an 0-11 Detroit team needed Keyshawn's only TD of the season in the final minute to escape with the win. The Bucs really played down to Detroit. And, of course, several years later, the Bucs were the team that snapped Detroit's NFL record 26 game road losing streak and sabotaged their playoff chances with it.
I remember this year when the Rams started off lousy, everyone was calling for Warner's head saying he lost something, saying that the offense's problems was his fault. This game I think shows the opposite with Warner getting his head taken off, still able to throw some amazing passes. He looked pretty decent against a defense that obliterated every other QB.
@@TheLocalLt It was just two different styles. Warner was great but he was aggressive getting the ball downfield. Bulger got the ball out quicker. Martz was also kind of losing his touch at this point.
These are one of the classic games from the 2002 Super Bowl Year. Well done Mike P.
Thank you!

Derrick Brooks was something else! He set the standard how a true WLB should play! Good guy on and off the field😆👍
There was not a linebacker like him. He is one of the best linebackers to ever play the game.

Yep on the regular.
Now our QB does that.
Not anymore
@southern daze Brad Johnson was definitely not pathetic in 2002
You are the man! Do you have the 2000 MNF game between these 2 teams? Thanks for all your great uploads!
The NFL posted that one, actually.
Dr. Martin van Nostrand Yeah idk to me it's annoying when they do that haha
Wasn't this Rams team at the time still considered the greatest show on turf before this game when they got exposed by the powerhouse Bucs defense?
Well the greatest show on turf was in '99 and the Bucs played them in the playoffs and held them to 11 points but were cheated. It was practically the same team in 2002 with I believe 1 or 2 of the players leaving I think.

@@robertrush1396 Well Ricky Proehl's touchdown catch was questionable too

Actually during their GSOT stretch..... they only beat the Bucs once..... 11-6 in the 1999 playoffs. This D exposed them for sure.

Glad the Bucs were able to end it after getting cheated in '99.
Yeah, the NFL always make new
rules up and name them after a
player for no reason.
2:07:29 John Madden has trouble picking the best player of the game. Also, a mention of how Warren Sapp would be angry if he was not included.
