- 4/3/12 - This tornado has been classified as an EF2 tornado. This is footage taken from Dallas Freightliner at I-20 and Bonnie View. The large objects you see flying through the air about half way through the footage are trailers on the north side of I-20 at the Schneider Terminal. News channels have confirmed a total of 11 tornados touched down (Now estimated at 14 tornados) . My heart goes out to the families that have been affected by this storm (Estimated 450 homes destroyed). Thank you Fox 4 DFW for the use of my video. Now it's time to help. There are several ways you can get involved. Click on this link to take you to Fox 4's "How You Can Help Tornado Victims" page. goo.gl/WsfkW
I went home early from school this day when I was at Lancaster High School.
I remember me and my older sister running into the bathroom. The tornado was literal feet away from my home. Thank God we were untouched.
Thank you all for your comments. This was something I never thought (or hoped) I would witness. I have lived in Tornado Alley all my life between St. Louis, MO & Dallas/Ft. Worth so tornados are somewhat common to me but I had never personaly witnessed one. This was truly something unreal to experience. The power of this tornado was unbelievable yet it was categorized as realitvly small (EF2). I could not imagine one larger. We were very lucky that day! I hope the same for everyone reading this.
To record a video during a tornado warning and get siren ambience is neat. To also get a tornado along with the sirens howling is a tremendous bonus.
This was at the Freightliner Truck Dealership on Port Blvd & Bonnie View Road, x472, I-20. On the south side of I-20, across street from Travel Centers of America. Trailers you see flying are from Schneider Terminal. The Flying J & Schneider are on the north side of I-20, less than .5 mi away.Flying J aprox .2 mi from Schneider & if the tornado just jogged over by that much, there would've been fatalities, because of drivers in their trucks. I spent the night at the "J" & left in the morning.
Excellent video! We live in Arlington but were out of town in California for my grandmother's funeral. Turned on the tv when we got in our hotel room and watched it live. I called my son who stayed home house sitting for us and told us the house survived, thank God.
If an EF-2 has the power to pick up 20-30,000 lb trailers and fling them like straws, then I shudder to think how powerful an EF-5 tornado is and what it could physically do...
You can look at the Joplin EF-5 to get an idea. It shifted a 12-story hospital off of it's foundation to the point where the structure was deemed unsafe and beyond repair and had to be demolished.
Or yet the Moore EF5 Tornado of 2013 that destroyed it
damage
You should look into the 2013 El Reno tornado, that beast had wind speeds over 300 mph, It was fortunate enough to not go into a very densely populated area otherwise it would have ended terribly.
That thing was picking up semi-trucks and throwing them like it was nothing! Wow! smh ... I love in Texas and my job had us on "tornado lock down" for at least two hours! I remember this day! Pregnant, sick, hungry and scared!!!!! Great footage!
Bye
It seems many people appreciate the video aspect of this footage, but I don't think anyone has commented on the audio. You can actually /hear/ the tornado (which sounds like a waterfall in this case) as well as the sound of debris being thrown. Very nice recording, but the situation, not so much. I know this happened around 3 years ago now, but I felt this video needed more admiration.
Great video! You seemed pretty calm, too... I was some 15 miles away in the path of the storm, and I was nervous as heck!
Bet you was I hope u ok 👍
Great video! Crazy how it stayed in that one spot...and for quite awhile! Awful for whoever was there.
Dallas need more siren coverage
Pro Viper. they need one when its f i nto hapen. befor the day
They have tornados 🌪 the most often out of tornado alley... they really should!
@@interstate8080 look it up Texas does have the most
@@therifleman1687 Well, fock me! Honestly thought Kansas held that title. Guess I was wrong....
Tornado: _"This ain't the trailer park I'm used to, but it'll work."_
Very good footage of the twister as it rolled by. Sad to see that it was hitting populated areas, but thank God nobody was killed from these storms. As a storm spotter/chaser, I appreciate good footage like this.
It took a whole week to catch the guy who did this. He also pled guilty to two hailstorms and several unlawful lightning discharges, and is currently serving 12 years behind isobars.
That’s SO funny!
Those trailers you see flying are from the Schneider operating center right off of I-20 in Dallas. The twister parked right in our drop yard and threw/slid trucks everywhere. No one here was hurt thankfully but my truck is sure trashed.
I have to say, I am very glad not more were hurt than there were. Seeing tractor trailers flying around like an angry 2 year old with a hot wheel is an awesome testament to the power of weather for sure.
Wow great footage... I was in my house in the US Homes neighborhood praying super hard.... as you all filmed this.... at about :17sec- 24 seconds It was destroying my neighborhood. Great footage..
We filmed it coming straight for us just before it hit my home.... look up yourfavoriteorganizer on facebook.
I remember this day *dramatically stares off into distance* I had to use the bathroom and I could hear the wind. It was crazy. Though I'm in Plano.
I was in pre-K when this happened in Lancaster (Houston elementary). I remember hiding under our desks, but I was so confused lol.
Wow awesome footage! Enjoyed the calmness to it
Wow man great video, glad you guys are safe!
best of all that days videos, you were calm and chose your shots perfectly
to confirm it was an EF 3 and im lucky i live in desoto (outside dallas and lancaster)
Excellent footage of that Tornado!
"Look at it just staying still" means its getting closer.
Not ALWAYS... sometimes they do just "stop". Now if it''s "staying still AND getting bigger".... head for your safe spot cuz it's about to be over your head.
+Slow Benzo Detox: With respect....I've chased for 35 years. If it looks like it's staying still....it doesn't automatically mean that "it is getting closer to you". Sometimes these tornadoes will just sit in one spot and spin and grind away at the ground below them. It can go on for a long time. When tracking a tornado, what you do is keep following the PARENT CLOUD that the tornado has spawned from......normally.
Thank you both of you just now seeing these and taught me something I didn’t really know
If all along it didn't appear to be moving and it was slowly appearing to grow larger with sound growing louder, then watch out. But you could tell the direction the tornado was heading from the start from left to right, I'll tell you when it slowed there must have been total devastation to that area where it hung around.
Exactly what came to mind mind, when he said that.
My plane just left as the Tornado struck dow at dalas airport. It was Creepy.
No fingers in the lens? Amazing.
Hey, just wanted you to know, tornadoes are not classified by their size but by their damage. A large tornado is not necessarily violent, and a narrow tornado can be violent.
I live in Lancaster, the Tornado siren is the song of my people 😭
I was at the t/a watching on TV... didn't realize how close it was until someone said the Schneider yard was right across the freeway
I call it a Texas twister, but anyhow tornadoes are scary no matter what category. They're just so powerful and so deadly, and yes, so unpredictable!
Why would anybody dislike this video? Just to be a jag? I think valid explanations should be given to be able to dislike. Its an amature tornado video at its best.
That is actually an EF-3 or maybe a EF-4. It would have to be that strong in order to wreck over 400 homes.
Amazing footage. Thanks for sharing.
Mew it sucks terribly to live in Tornado Alley. I live about 20 minutes west from St. Louis Lambert Airport in Missouri and damn. After hearing the sirens soo much, it makes you paranoid nearly and makes ya wanna move somewhere else. XD I hate storms. >
The main sirens in this video were a 2001-SRN and a distant Thunderbolt
Hey Droege, do you have an email address at which we could contact you regarding this video? We would be interested to discuss a license to use this video if this is generally possible? (i.e. via email) :) Cheers, Felix
Saw the clips and felt it was really a bad phenomena. Hope the families have been able to put things behind them and forging on with life.
I live in eastern Pennsylvania and I remember seeing this on the news,
They should re-rate this tornado to at least EF-3. Just look at the power of this thing! And the video in the sidebar Tornado Lancaster Texas 4/3/2012. That thing is violent!
great steady footage better than the news.
this tornado acutally ruin my school:(
I don’t think this is the same tornado, but i remember back in 2011/12 we had to do a “tornado drill” and back then, I was in elementary. So my elementary self said “guys it’s just a stupid thunderstorm why do we need to do tornado drill?” Haha.
Ths was the worst day of my life i was in 3rd grade my sister was pregnant at the house and the house got hit , i was hurt more than anything in the world
MonShayla Kyles What happened, was everyone ok? Is she and the baby ok now?
yeah the baby is 2 about to be 3.They are well Im in the 6th grade now.
MonShayla Kyles Aww I teach 6th graders. Thank you for letting me know. I was worried after seeing your comment. I'm so scared of tornados. Last night with all the storms I was up all night getting ready to run into the closet lol. Did they run for cover into the closet or bathroom?
punky298705 no we just stuck together
damn, part of me doesn't want to come to this part of Texas now...some scary shit
I would have shat mysell seeing that
@extremechaser91.. At this time, nobody has died from the tornados or injuries suffered during the tornados. This fact is amazing in itself considering they are reporting 11 confirmed tornados touched down and over 100 homes are destroyed.
How the heck do you dislike a video like this? You must be a serious troll..... Great job on the video though guys. Glad you stayed safe and didn't get any damage to your property.
I. Hope 🤞 those people are ok 👌 during the tornado 🌪.
Man i was sooo nervous that day im scared of tornadoes
Sirens, a tornado sounds like a mix of trains speeding by and a very loud raging waterfall.
Kinda weird that the NWS considered this a tornado emergency, when it wasn't very big.
A "tornado emergency" means there is a tornado on the ground in a heavily structured/populated area - or is approaching one. It has NOTHING to do with the size or strength of the tornado.. ANY tornado in a heavily populated area has the potential to do great harm and is considered an "emergency" situation.
Did it hit the flying j?
Notice in 0:50 the black truck in the right corner drifted
YO DID THOSE CARS NOT SEE THE DAMN TORNADO??? THEY JUST PASSING BY NOT GIVING A FUCK LOL
Where is your office?

Wow....nice!
I remember this day like yesterday
Pro tip: if it looks like it’s staying it’s moving towards you!
Not always true, it can actually be staying still or even moving away. Watch the top of the funnel to see which way it is moving.
Thank God that my friends there did not get it.
Where's Greggo?

ua-cam.com/video/JkydOZr-XuY/v-deo.html It's been quote some time since I shot this video and it's amazing to come back and see again. I appreciate everyone's comments. I have a new video I did for the same company I work for, Dallas Freightliner - Western Star. We did a video contest here at the office. Most Views/Likes, wins. When you can, take a look at it. I appreciate everyone's help trying to get me to the top. The number of hits this video (tornado) received, was just luck for me. For this contest video, I have to send out this asking you to stop by. Thanks in advance for checking it out everyone. I appreciate your support... ua-cam.com/video/JkydOZr-XuY/v-deo.html
It's not tornado, it's tar nader 😁😉
When it stays there it may be coming towards you.
i don't like tornados because they scare me all the time..)
What if Tornadoes are created by multiple vortex by Spaceships?!!!
Orrendo. E. Pericoloso. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙉😓😓😓😓😓
EF2.5
Oh yeah and a 2001-130
EF anything can kill a human. Any rating is dangerous.
YASSSSS
Too weak to be EF2 definitely EF3
Isn't EF3 stronger? So then if it's too weak to be an Ef2, how can it be in a stronger category? Just wondering "_"
Twister at forth worth Texas destroy your house and my house
Nah that's a EF2 look at the fujita scale and u will see the damage this tornado is producing is EF2 damage.
I think he was joking???
This is why i live in garland
JamesYaBoi An EF4 hit there in 2015
The Garland-Rowlett Tornado was worse though.
