    What fun! We just went to our local children's museum, too, and the grocery store was VERY popular! I'm so happy Miss Odessa finally gets to sit facing forward in her car seat, she's a big girl now❤

    I would get a formal evaluation from a neuropsychologist. That would give you a lot of peace of mind.

    That children's museum is so cool. So many fun activities. Great outing for the children. Glad to see Odessa finally made her weight to change the carseat. Now we can see her in the back seat! It sounds like Theo's diet therapist wants to try occupational therapy, which might help. Also, it sounds like they are being very proactive in trying new therapies.

    Theo probably doesn't have Autism but what might be going on is he may have Sensory Processing Disorder. It typically presents with Autism, but it can present independently. Given that most of his issues seem to be centered around food that sounds like a texture/taste issue. OT should be able to Dx that, but a good indicator is sticking to the same texture and tastes in foods.

      @LisaKay70 Місяць тому +2

      Good explanation. Thank you for commenting. My grandson has the same issue, so I'll mention this to his pediatrician.

    • @PowerfullyPowerless
      @PowerfullyPowerless Місяць тому

      @LisaKay70 I'm not a doctor and this is only UA-cam, so I highly discourage you mentioning anything to anyone, especially if you aren't the legal guardian of the child in question. That said, I am an I individual who is an adult with a physical disability that holds a certification in Trauma Recovery Coaching. If you go deep enough, often times what you will find is something traumatic going on causing high anxiety and what you are experiencing is an example of a trauma response. IE: let's say a child has choked on chicken, but managed to dislodge the chicken on their own by coughing. From there after anything with a similar texture to chicken may scare the child and they won't touch it after the fact. It's neither Autism or Sensory Processing, but a response to the experience of choking and fearing it will happen again. If that's approaches as autism or sensory processing you run the risk of retraumatization because the approaches to autism and sensory processing are exposure. With the situation being trauma based exposure only likely worsens symptoms, whereas addressing it as trauma you don't approach it in the same way. For trauma you would allow the child not to eat the chicken and comfort them when they are scared. You would reassure them it is safe and you are there watching so it won't happen again. If it was a certain part of the chicken you wouldn't give that to the child and reassure them the part that hurt them before can't hurt then now because it's gone. Totally different approach when you look at it from that angle verses a medical issue. There are situations where it has nothing to do directly with food or something being wrong with the child.

      @LisaKay70 Місяць тому

      @DesAMowadeng i am the legal guardian, and there hasn't been a trauma. It was just something I would ask the Dr about, not that I'm diagnosing him myself.

    • @PowerfullyPowerless
      @PowerfullyPowerless Місяць тому

      @LisaKay70 there was no accusation or assumption on my part as to who you were or were not. As a certified professional I am obligated to state what I do and where my suggestions/ideas/explanations are based from once someone shows interest in what has been shared, as you have. What you choose to do with it is really your business. It isn't the best idea to take advice from UA-cam and apply it to your situation, especially when it wasn't being offered to you. At best, I hope I helped you understand your grandchild, if I've done that then great. I can't offer any advice to you about your grandchild due to not having any information to base an answer on. Unlike here where I've been following for awhile and have been able to gain such through what's been shared (much of which I'm sure hasn't been for privacy reasons). Your doctor knows your child best if they have been following them for awhile. You as a grandparent responsible for their care also know them best. You can always ask for a referral to an OT if you have concerns about sensory processing or autism and also therapy if you feel that is something they may benefit from. I don't know the nature of how you became the legal guardian in this situation but something like that doesn't typically happen in ordinary circumstances which suggests that it is highly possible that the child in your care has experienced some form or level of trauma. If your child is experiencing difficult around food in any way it may never be about the food. It could be anxiety leading to lack of appetite. It could be directly or indirectly related to how they feel about themselves, why they live with you verses with the biological parents, and whether or not the parents are in the picture. That's just a short list based on knowing nothing but the child having a legal guardian. These issues are complex and UA-cam isn't always the best place to share about them as the information required is private.

    When you find out what's going on, please let me know. Theo reminds me so much of my grandson, who is 3 years old. He has only certain things he'll eat, I attempt to get him to eat other things, and I'll try and sneak it in, but he immediately knows and starts freaking out. I've tried multiple times to potty train him, and he just isn't getting it, and he'll be 4 in May. His attention span is very small and gets distracted super easy. He says some sentences and things but to carry on a conversation like at his age he should be able to do so he can't. I'm think ADHD and he needs to be tested by a specialist and probably medicated just to help his mind slow down a little, which would help him focus better. But I haven't taken that step yet, but I'm thinking I probably should. Just don't want him on stuff that would zombie fie him. I just want him to be able to concentrate better and stay focused. Sorry that was a long comment just they act so much alike. But I can say Copper will sit and watch your videos, especially when he sees the kids on the screen.

    You are a excellent parent, some children just are picky eaters, my son was my granddaughter barely eats anything except pizza and chicken nuggets, as they get older they get better. Sone children are just to busy to eat.

    • @Kimmie_F
      @Kimmie_F Місяць тому +2

      No, they have no issues with Leon eating a variety of things. Leon just can't eat enough to get rid of his feeding tube. Theo is the only one who has feeding (texture, etc.) issues.
