In the Ridley Scott film The Duelists…Harvey Keitel is at a high overlook…the sun emerges from the clouds. It is an astonishing shot. Scott just had a feeling & the scene is just awesome.
Quickly learning lines on the spot, is one of those skills that demonstrates an actor's professionalism. Not to take anything away from actors that can't do it like Depp did. Sarah Michelle Gellar is known for the insane speed at which she can absorb new material and deliver. It was one of those things that endeared her to her costars on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, that even though she would absorb whole scenes nearly instantly, she not only showed respect for those who needed more time to do it, but also used her position as lead, to stand up for them and demand they be given the time they needed to prepare.
4:01 The chest burster scene form Alien was actually shot in two takes. In the first take it got stuck under his t-shirt. This part and the actors reactions are shown are from that take. Everything else was from the second take where it actually burst through.
Why no mention of the stunt in Raiders of the Lost Arc where the stuntman was riding a falling Anubis statue as it toppled over into a wall in the Well of Souls? They had one chance to get that shot right. It wasn't a perfect execution, as the giant statue started falling over before the stuntman was in position, but they used that first take anyway.
Your videos are entertaining BUT: 1. Too much repetition. You reuse clips across multiple videos. 2. One of your other videos gave a completely different explanation of the Malkovitch can throw event. Inconsistent!
Actually, the train crash in _The Fugitive_ was done almost entirely with miniatures. Yes, they did set up a stunt with a real train, but it hopped the track too early and plowed straight into the dirt, making the footage largely unusable. Of course to hype up the movie, the filmmakers lied and claimed that the scene in the movie was done 100% real.
It actually was done for real. However, Harrison Ford was not in the shot when the train went off the tracks. But he wasn't composited in, either. The final shot was done in-camera using a similar technique as when they did the flying sequences for the first Superman movie. The image of the train was projected onto a screen that reflected the image back into the camera at something like 10 times the brightness, capturing both Harrison Ford and the image of the train at the same time. I believe the name of the technology used to execute this is called Introvision.
3:48 Nolan has ALWAYS said he prefers in-camera effects. They age much better than CGI which always looks out of date. It’s got nothing to do with CGI being too expensive.
To clarify, it wasn't in the script but was a spontaneous act by a drunken extra, and Malkovich's cry of surprise and pain was genuine. The director thought it was a great moment that heightened the absurdity of Malkovich's situation in the story, and the extra was given a speaking credit in the film and paid accordingly.
Didn't realise Spike Johns directed Being John Malkovitch 1:40. Just to throw in a "one-shot" that didn't work in one, in the film The Battle of Britain there is a scene where a large aircraft hanger is destroyed by the Luftwaffe. In the first take the explosives misfired so the technicians packed more in, a lot more. The next day it went up, big style. 😊
Depp did Tusk as an uncredited favour. His agent told him not to do the movie because it was so bad. Depp didn't want to disappoint his friends making the movie so did it uncredited without telling his agent. His agent was correct, it was a terrible B movie.
Lots of embellishing. Almost certainly the cast was not "shocked: when certain things like the chest burster scene in Alien was filmed. Surrounded by a large crew with cameras, some seasoned actors, etc. Yeah, I am sure they were far from shocked. It's almost like they want you to believe that what you see is the actual environment that the actors are in and that it is also real for them.
The shot Christopher Walkin made; (2:24)The exact same shot I made after running the table for eight straight games in the Circus Bar in Riverside, CA. (Waiting for a Greyhound bus while on liberty from the Navy) Once a white or mixed race bar. It went black for some reason and I'll never forget how the packed crowd in there exploded after making that final shot.
Okay I can safely say this video is BS.. just from The Fugitive scene where he says it was done with a real train, I know I watched a behind the scenes show where Harrison Ford leapt from a set, and the background was added later.. hogwash!!!
CGI requires rendering every frame for hours. Rendering the blackhole scene from inception took 1 month. Running powerful servers for such a long time costs more co2 emissions
4:43 Jeff Goldblum???
Update: it's Sam Neill (sorry for mistake)
@@tlaughplanetMaybe hire an actual narrator rather than use that robot crap.
Hah! Didn't catch that. However, reminds of me of a Columbo episode where Goldblum is an extra playing a protester; "A Case of Immunity".
Can you see my comment? Censored big time here by the UA-cam fascists. Surprised to still find my comment still here from last time.

We can't see the final video because of those damn "Click Here" boxes. Please stop doing that...
Agreed. It's obnoxious.
This.
I just rightclick 2x on the video, then you get then you get the 'Picture in Picture' option. Click that and the video window floats above everything.
crashing a boeing is cheaper than CGI....
Yeh wtf right?!
The Boeing crashes itself
Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman is just legendary!
She jumped-rope in high heals...
Michele Piper best cat-woman.
No competition.
Michelle Pfeiffer; fell in love with her when she played Isabeau of Anjou in Ladyhawke, and yes, she has to have been the best Catwoman yet.

"Lemons?" My guy, what kind of grocery stores are you shopping at?!?
Apparently you didn't watch the movie... Lemons.. hahaha

How in the hell crashing a real Boeing 747 is cheaper than using CGI ???
Ah... Once again tricked by a video thumbnail.
4:01 The chest burster scene form Alien was actually shot in two takes. In the first take it got stuck under his t-shirt. This part and the actors reactions are shown are from that take. Everything else was from the second take where it actually burst through.
The amount of trains being crashed XD
... It was cheaper than CGI...

Because it’s all made up
0:37 I don't believe that was his genuine reaction
good work! need an outro tho
I guess Buster Keaton has done a lot of remarkable single shots.
In case you came for the thumbnail, its a Tom Cruise stunt and actress beside him had nothing to do about it.

Mad Max & possibly Road Warrior semi crashes were probably single-take also
The catwoman scene was very impressive
Jackie took his breath "ahhh... ahhh ... ahhh.."
Director: That's the sign! roll the camera! ACTION!!!!
Jackie: what? oh shit! Jump!!!
3:48 Nolan has ALWAYS said he prefers in-camera effects. They age much better than CGI which always looks out of date. It’s got nothing to do with CGI being too expensive.
whoa, an AI voiceover...
The beer can in Malkovich was done by an extra and got paid because they loved it so much.

💯
@@Durwood71Thanks. I knew I’d seen a different explanation for this scene than the one given in this video. I think you nailed it.
7:36 Johnny’s accent kinda sounds like Heath Ledger.
Catwoman didn't hit the hats you clearly see nylon lines snapping
Good for them. It's not going to keep me up nights.
Everyone who’s telling him to use a human narrator: he does use a human narrator just read the description

Or, in most cases, the crew get it right in spades, and are ignored as usual
7:18 not to mention Jackie Chan hurt his Hands Pretty Badly but somehow he didn't know he was in Pain until the Adrenaline wore off....
He also dislocated his pelvis in that stunt.
1:40 Who the hell is Spike Johns? Johns? Really?
3:05 I think the lady doing it was also a hired Waxer (I didn't know what you call them) Everyone's reaction was very real including hers

Yes, she worked down the street from the studio. Look close and you'll see blood droplets on his chest.
porkies
principle's office scene
how the actress got through without laffing is amazing
i mean yeah thats how all Borat scenes are
0:44 high on “lemons”
There was more than one take of the Alien chest buster scene. In the 1st take there was too much blood.
Remember, Robin Thicke had Paula Patton and blew it.
4:40 That's Sam Neil, not Jeff Goldblum.
Depp did Tusk as an uncredited favour. His agent told him not to do the movie because it was so bad. Depp didn't want to disappoint his friends making the movie so did it uncredited without telling his agent. His agent was correct, it was a terrible B movie.

Moi aussi j’ai pensé la même chose...
why are there so much ads
Spike Jonze is pronounced Spike Johns?!
No lollllllll
Stop with the robot voices that can't pronounce names. It's infuriating.
03:48 - Since when is crashing a real 747 into a Building Cheaper than CGI? Christopher Nolan just wanted to do it for real 🤦

Oh no not a real tarantula. I would have screamed too poor guy
When the CGI is available is it fair to do practical stunts on the expense of pollution.
CGI requires rendering every frame for hours. Rendering the blackhole scene from inception took 1 month. Running powerful servers for such a long time costs more co2 emissions
