- Archive Moto presents A Brief History of Speed - Part 1 looking at the history of motorcycle racing in America. It begins on a wide stretch of sand on the north end of Daytona Beach, Florida became the Birthplace of Speed in 1903 when Gilded Age motoring enthusiast, including a lone motorcyclist onboard an Indian Motorcycle arrived to see who was the fastest.

Floyd's win at Daytona in 1948 was the last beach win there on an Indian. I was told that he really wasn't an active hill climber.@@ArchiveMoto
