Here is the break down I did in a facebook group. Scotch Tape $17.16 for 54.6yard per roll x 6 = 982' of tape. comes out to $.017 Per foot of tape. Uline craft tape $61 is 375' of tape x 8 rolls is 3000' of tape at a cost of $.02 per foot of tape. But keep in mind in my example with regular tape I used three strips of tape at 36" long and I usually would do 2 extra the other way for a total of 36"x5 = 180" of tape per opening costing me a total of (180 / 12 = 15' of tape) 15' x $.017 = $0.255. Now you have to take .255 x 2 to cover both openings of my box and that's a total of $.51 to tape one box like the example. So lets break down the Craft tape. I only need 36" of tape per opening. (36" \ 12 = 3' of tape) 3' x $.02 = $.06 per opening and 2 opening per box is just $0.12. So your cutting your cost in half!!!!! I even shocked my self at the savings! I say its a sound investment!
Recently bought one (same unit under a different brand name) for similar reason. Clear tape is garbage. I've driven to UPS only to find all the clear tape has fallen off the boxes, sitting in a car in south FL summer heat. Haven't even put water in ours yet. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the quick tutorial and the calculations. The dispenser sure is not cheap but I got a free case of tape and free shipping.
