I kinda love how the sheer density of the city makes the city feel much bigger than what it really is especially compared to some of the other towns in the region. The scaling makes it feel like a properly large city, which I really do love seeing.
Another great video. One thing that does stand out to me is that you build adequate parking space when you work on low and medium density areas, but when it comes to high density there is nowhere near enough parking space!
If you use a small street to make a very short descent between skyscrapers to a tunnel, you can use the invisible road with parking underground just like on the ground to create as much parking as you like under the dense areas. I have not tried to make multiple levels of underground parking, but I don't see any problem with that if you want to build the opposite of the above ground parking buildings. This is much more compact for a visible footprint than the vanilla underground parking lot, and you can expand this custom one to basically fill under as much of your downtown as you want.
If he did put enough parking lots for those buildings, it would be a sea of concrete. 😏 A lot of the high density assets have "garage doors" designed on them. It would be cool if those assets had "underground parking" built in where the cims would actually drive their car through. The game just needs better parking garages. The base game garages are just too big and fancy. And the underground parking asset isn't really useful. 🙃 There was a workshop asset in CS1 that was just a blank square, I forgot the actual size...maybe 2x3. But it had 40 or so invisible parking spaces. I plopped them underneath the high rise buildings so that they'd actually have enough parking. I wish CS2 had that, or at least I am crossing my fingers it becomes an asset.
Nice building as ever SG! Golf courses and cricket pitches... reckon you could use a couple of those maybe on the outskirts, and a proper biggish park downtown somewhere.

I have to say that I am really liking your mid density but tightly packed neighborhoods. They don't feel like an American city, but more like some of the places I've seen in videos about London and other European cities that have grown up from what were originally villages but now are merged into huge conglomerations. 😁

I seriously love the detail and uniqueness to your videos…definitely looking forward to the new city flushing out! A couple of suggestions at 18:25 I think a slighter taller building along the avenue would really top off the downtown look from all directions 😅 and also as you have built closer to the highway, non of the roads beside those with highway access have access to the other side of the highway. It’s fine now but when development starts on the other side of the highway you will want roads that do not have direct highway access for local traffic to use ….otherwise great video as always

Actually you don't have to lock the row houses because they never grow that much tall . They may be under medium density but they are quite different than the regular medium density buildings which are bit taller.
They don't grow as tall as the other medium density, but they definitely do get taller at level 4 and 5. It's that little extra height that I don't want.

You need some type of park or plaza in downtown. Also a cool idea if you made some type of like senior citizen living by the highway

A lot of the skyscrapers have underground parking built in it just doesn't show it, but cars can park.

How many unemployed people does your city have?

btw i also have crimes on every corner of every street right in front of police buildings...
