- Are you looking for a delicious and easy crock pot recipe that your entire family will devour? Crock Pot Italian Beef Sandwiches are the answer! Made with just 5 ingredients, this long-cooking crock pot recipe slow cooks all day long resulting in tender meat that easily shreds with two forks. Flavored with Italian seasoning, pickled vegetables, and melty cheese, this slow cooker supper will become a new go-to.
PRINTABLE RECIPE HERE 👉🏼 iowagirleats.com/crock-pot-it...
INGREDIENTS:
3lb chuck roast, trimmed of visible fat and cut into large hunks
1 envelope Italian salad dressing mix (see notes)
8oz pepperoncini pepper slices + splash of juice, plus extra for serving
8oz Giardiniera (Chicago-Style Italian Sandwich Mix,) drained, plus extra for serving
14.5oz can beef broth
provolone cheese slices
hoagie buns
DIRECTIONS:
1. Place chuck roast into the bottom of a 5.5 - 6 quart crock pot then sprinkle with salad dressing mix. Add pepperoncini peppers plus a splash of juice, Giardiniera, and beef broth then lift up chuck roast pieces to get broth underneath. Place a lid on top then cook on low for 9 hours, or until meat shreds easily with a fork. Shred then place meat back into crock pot and cook on low for 1 more hour.
2. Split buns in half then scoop the shredded meat mixture on top and add provolone cheese slices. Top with additional pepperoncini peppers and Giardiniera, if desired, then serve.
NOTES:
- I like Simply Organic or Good Grace's gluten free Italian Dressing Mix. Good Season's Zesty Italian Salad Dressing Mix is a good option if you do not need to eat gluten free.

This is about the easiest thing to make, and it is delicious. I like a little mayo and a slice of tomato on my sandwich though. Thanks for the recipe.
Ooo I love that idea - so glad this was a hit!
Looks delish and easy. I'm visiting my son and daughter in law in California he is Navy I'm going to buy them a crockpot and make for them.
Fabulous - I hope it's a hit with everyone!!
i made this and OH. MY. GOD. im in love its so delicious
SO, SO glad you loved it!! Really appreciate your feedback!
Hello Iowa here too and this is a great recipe I just made it!!!
Fantastic!! So glad you enjoyed!!
this correct!
Aloha from Maui Hawaii! Mahalo for sharing this recipe! I had Italian beef sandwiches while visiting Chicago a few years back. I don't think you usually use cheese though. You can also dip the sandwich in the flavorful broth. I like the fact that you paired it with a healthy salad instead of French fries! Great video. I will check out your other videos.
For sure!! Cheese is very controversial on an Italian Beef, but we do like that way best. To each their own! :D
this is what i been looking for
I hope you love it!
Yum!!
Thanks, Glenda!
@@IowaGirlEats I plan on making this for the 4th of July! Thanks for the recipe!
Is there any benefit to sear the meat first? Prior to putting into the crock pot? Well done and thanks for the reply
You certainly can if you like though for this particular recipe it's not necessary!
Thank you!! I’m going to follow yours exactly.
Would doing all this but under pressure in the instantpot for about 60-80min be ok? I hope you say yes because I'm about to do it ;p
Haha! I've had someone make it at 90 minutes with natural release and they said it was amazing. How did yours go?
How did it turn out.
so no need to sear it first?
Nope, no need! :)
You didn't laydl some of the broth over it??
We sometimes put it in a cup for dunking. You can do whatever you wish!
@@IowaGirlEats I made this last night over night in my slowcooker. The meat pretty much fell apart to the touch and the fat just fell away. My only concern is how fatty the broth is. I'll need to put that into the refrigerator overnight and skim it off of the top when it solidifies. Then problem solved! 👍🏻💪🏻
@@Mr.56GoldtopThat sounds like a good plan!
G see Dr
pulled beef doesn't work like pulled pork. Unless your letting it cool down then thinly slice it against the grain it's going to be chewey.
Well, I've made this recipe and many other chuck roast recipes in the crock pot more times than I can count and yes, it does shred exactly like I just showed in this video if you cook it on low for 8-10 hours. If you undercook it, then perhaps you can slice it but in my experience undercooked beef in the crock pot comes out tough and chewy. Beef roasts such as the chuck roast used here has a lot of connective tissue that needs a long, low and slow cooking process to break down so the meat becomes extremely tender.
@@IowaGirlEats There's a reason why every Italian Beef sandwich seller cools the meat after the cook and then slices it thinly against the grain. I'm sure your sandwiches are great. I wish I had one right now. I've tried the slow cooker method many times, even then trying to slice it against the grain with a good kitchen knife but it's not the same as the legit Italian Beef sandwich.
Looks like a delicious beef sandwich, but that is not an Italian beef sandwich at all. Looks more akin to a cheese steak than an Italian beef.
Ok!
Looks good but that is NOT italian beef
This is a crock pot version of Italian Beef - I don't claim it to be anything other than that! :)
I know people who've made Italian beef sandwiches in a crock pot. That still isn't an Italian beef.
You fraud. @@IowaGirlEats
Then call it what it is, crock pot beef. Why are you apropriating the word "Italian". Its fraudulent. @@IowaGirlEats
Italian beef is done with a sirloin tip roast, smoked or baked in oven to 125 ° internal temp, rested in fridge overnight then, sliced thin on deli slicer and put into a crockpot where the gravy is made
No such thing
Wheres the freakin' au jus?
This is a "dry" Italian Beef. Feel free to dip the bun or sandwich into the drippings if you prefer.
Your video is quite subtly misleading and serves to waste peoples time for views. All you did is put giardiniera on beef. That doesnt make it Italian. Most people in USA would consider an Italian beef sandwich of the Chcago style and your labeling the video using "Italian" suggests a sandwich like that. Not some beef with giardiniera thrown over it. @@IowaGirlEats
@@IowaGirlEats just call it midwestern, yokel beef.
