    Hello friends,
    Welcome back to Swiftlessons for another rock guitar tutorial. In today's session I'll be breaking down one of those songs that made me pick up the guitar in the first place, Nirvana's 1991 hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Together we will learn the riffs and phrases for the verse and chorus sections, and Kurt's beginner friendly guitar solo.

    Hey friends, I'm feeling an 90's alternative/grunge kick coming on! Let me know what bands or songs I should tackle next. Maybe some Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, or how about Radiohead? Let me know below and submit your request at Swiftguitar.com/request. Thanks! -Rob

      Machine head by Bush..??
      Come down maybe? Those are not simple riffs though..
      Oh... Show us some of the brilliant lead guitar techniques that Primus used?? Yea??

      No specific requests, but for 90s suggestions dont forget stuff like Cake, or Cracker, Corrosion of Conformity, Spin Doctors, Blind Melon, Stone Temple Pilots etc. Just ideas. :)
      Good vid as always.

      @@CooperEC1972 STP is definitely on my to-do list. I've been looking into doing Plush, Interstate Love Song and Big Empty. Blind Melon is another one that would be a lot of fun. Thanks! -Rob

    Bro…. I don’t even comment on stuff but this is the BEST tutorial ever. These guitarists on UA-cam are great but they don’t really break things down for beginners that well or at all. I find myself watching most videos where they show you some chords without explaining where your fingers go which can get annoying. I’ve been playing since last May but not often at all anymore and I’m starting back up. I’m definitely going to subscribe and check out your other videos

    Are you muting the strings too while playing the powerchords, or are you supposed to only learn to hit two strings at a time? Because I still often hit more strings than I want

    From the Beatles to this shit in only 30 years. Degradation never happened so quickly.

    • @swiftlessons
      @swiftlessons  8 місяців тому

      Every era has exceptional artist… if you think Nirvana is garbage, consider the fact that Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Beck, and so many other great acts debuted in the early 90s. I don’t think music degraded in quality at all, especially when you factor in artist that aren’t mainstream.

    Great tutorial for a beloved song.
    Even though I will be pissed at kurt for the rest of my life.
    Suicide is an act of COWARDICE.

    • @swiftlessons
      @swiftlessons  3 роки тому +2

      I understand that viewpoint. When a person has loved ones, especially a little girl, the act of taking your own life can seem very selfish. That said, I know that there are times when a person is so emotionally distraught, chemically imbalanced or mentally damaged that they become a danger to themselves at no fault of their own, they simply lose control.

      I'm not a "victim". But my dad took that route when I was like 12. 2 sisters, one was an infant.
      And my mom was like.... It was bad. So I'm opinionated and jaded on that subject.
      People adored Kurt.

    Hey sorry but why did u put capacities in making a Tutorial for a Track, where youll already find millions of good tutorials for? I mean its nice, but its really not necessary..

    • @swiftlessons
      @swiftlessons  3 роки тому +3

      Good question. For starters, it’s still one of the most searched for guitar lessons on the web, so not teaching it would mean missing out on potentially 10s of thousands of views and subscribers. Second, I watched several of the most popular tutorials and found them to be either sloppy in their formatting or incorrect. Lastly, my daughter is scheduled to be born tomorrow, so I needed something fun and easy to teach, as I don’t have time or energy for a hefty project. I hope that makes sense, take good care.

      Hey Maggie, prior to the pandemic I was working with various female vocalist on such titles, and plan to expand my catalog further in the weeks ahead. I do have a number of female vocal friendly tunes available already, the list includes:
      • Patsy Cline - “Crazy” & “I Fall to Pieces”
      • T. Chapman - “Fast Car” & “Give me One Reason”
      • Joni Mitchell - “California” & “Big Yellow Taxi”
      • 4 Non Blondes - “What’s Up”
      Among several others. Let me know if you need any help finding these resources, and if you have any suggestions on new additions. Thanks for the support. -Rob
