  • This is a short piece for solo piano graciously dedicated to me by my composer friend, Zan D. Huang, two years my senior. He is a rising second year at the University of Michigan.
This masterfully written Pavane -- a slow, stately dance with roots in the 16th century -- features up to four meandering, singing lines at a time, each of which intricately weaves their own way through the music, creating ethereal harmonies and sonorities that seem to ever so gently and smoothly fall into one another. There's an undeniable gentle, quiet, yet constant momentum driving this piece. So beautifully haunting.
Zan, if you're watching this, I really hope I did it justice :)
