Problem is the Oilers change it up and beat you in different ways on the power play, they're just that much better than everybody else on the power play.
I don't know about anyone else, but I find it frustrating to watch the Canucks play zone defense when they are even strength. When you are a man short, that is different. But when you are even strength, you need to play tight to your man and challenge the puck carrier at all times.
Silovs, single handedly holding the Canucks in the playoffs at this point. Bench Petey and light a fire under his ass so he can find himself. Get rid of Cole, he's Edmontons 3rd or 4th best player, play the full 60, not just the last 15 mins of the game, and for heavens sake, score on the power play! So frustrating watching them flounder, especially knowing they have the talent to pull it off.
This comment is going to be based on Petterson not struggling with an injury. Sit Petterson. This next game. If the Canucks lose this round, it will almost solely be because of Petterson.
@@glennhankins6927 For a cheap price, I bet a team like the Ducks would take a chance on him. Next year the Canucks will be a much much better team: Willander and Lekerimakki -- and the other Pettersson -- will probably make the team. All will be cheaper than most of the players they will replace including the hapless Michayev. Tyler Myers will be working for a lower cap hit, or moved. More money to spend elsewhere. This team is still very much a work in progress -- it is remarkable they got this far. Not sure whether Joshua and Zadorov both can stay, but if you have to choose one, it looks the big Zed is the way to go. This contract is beginning to look like a real problem. Let's hope it's an aberration.
They can still trade him. I wouldn’t count on Willander on the roster next season, but Lekkerimaki for sure. If we lose this series management has to shake this team up somehow.
Canucks are just too passive on the PK - if you notice the best penalty killing teams are aggressive, they force you to play the puck quickly. They have to do that with the Oilers, who when given enough time will find the open man.
Can the Canucks start playing hockey and stop with all these embellishments? Hronik with 35 seconds left in the first took one of the worst tries in a while and left his man open. Zadorov tried it last game and Boeser did game 1.
It would make more sense to sign Silovs and keep Demko until his contract expires. By then the Canucks will know whether Silovs can handle being a full time starter. Demmer gets injured too often, having both goalies would be a bonus.
@@vikinginsane6770 Thats actually a great idea. Maybe keep them both next season and see how Silovs does with a bigger load. If he’s great, then we can deal Demko the following year before his contract expires. Get value before he walks know what Im saying?

Yes, Pettersson has garbage line mates, but- how come he's equally invisible in the playoffs when he's been on the lotto line with Miller and Boeser? I'm not convinced he's a player who can ever be an impact in the playoffs. Certainly not one who is worth 11 million. The Canucks looked tired last night and tentative - like they were afraid to be aggressive in case they got penalized. Add to that the Oilers being hungrier on every shift and players not named McDavid or Draisitl finally stepping up and it was clear what the result would be. And yet, despite having their worst game of the series, the Canucks still almost won it. Bring on Game 5!
He’s our version of Mitch Marner. I truly believe the Canucks need to deal him if he doesn’t get it together soon. It won’t work in Van under Tocchet the way he’s playing.
He's supposedly the most skilled goal score on the team so he should be able to make any line that he is on productive. Peterson is showing that he has nothing when the going gets tough in the playoffs. Canucks paid huge money for a wimp.
I hope I'm wrong, or maybe Elias has an injury, but I'm worried that, for all his skill, he'll never be a factor in the play-offs. Maybe we need a relatively fast-skating bodyguard for him, like Gretzky so often had.
I think the problem is more how disappointing Mikheyev has been as Petey's winger. I get that he's still recovering from ACL surgery but they didn't operate on his hands. Whenever Mik gets the puck in front of the net, he always seems to panic and just shoot it into the goalie instead of around them. If Petey still had Kuzy on his wing this season, he easily gets 100+ points again, but sadly the fun Russian never could adjust to Tocchet's two way system.
Put Joshua on his LW would be nice but his chemistry with Lindholm and Garland don’t wanna mess with. I believe they just need to ride him on LW with Millsey and Boes, hoping his confidence returns.
lol there is no injury, he’s 170 pounds and is being played very hard, especially in the last 2 months of the season when all of the team tightened up and played solid defensively. He needs to gain some weight or be quicker.
@@jsnagra1ablehe's playing with the best we have on power play and what has he done? One goal on a perfect pass from Miller and barley put that one in past Skinner. Enough excuses
He needs a different coach, different linemates and different city. His heart was never in Van, but he needed that contract. Whoever gets Petey it will be a steal.
I will never not click for Garrett
Unacceptable defensive coverage at the end
I can always listen to a Garrett break down😊
Pettersson anchors the ‘bum’ line. lol

The Canucks need to play to the top of their ability the entire game. When they do, they can control play. Maybe they've been winning too easy.
How often do we see a team with such impressive depth at goal? Our 3rd string goalie is lighting it up!
