    Indian Cove and Rattlesnake Canyon is a fun hike, thanks for sharing. This hike is where I introduced my boys to hiking and scrambling, highly recommended, at the right time of year. It's fun in late winter or very early spring when you might catch a good bit of water still flowing.

      That is great to know about the water, thank you! Also a cool coincidence -- I took my son on this as one of his very first hikes as well. He loved it because of the scrambling! --A

    Did this hike as a Boy Scout in 1960. Great fun, but we all wore Keds shoes or leather soled shoes. Those gritty rocks pretty much wrecked them all. Parents weren't too happy about that.

      Haha that is a great story, Ralph! totally see how the rocks would wreck any kind of dress shoe 😂. But still, what a cool place to come as a kid -- I could have climbed around on these rocks for hours, and bet you guys did too! ❤️

    You two are Spiderman and Spiderwoman on those rocks! I went hiking yesterday for about 8.6+ miles through Oaks, Palms and other trees and saw only a few people all day. It was a nice cool day in the low 70s here in Florida. It is called Hickory Hammock. It is located by Lorida, FL. My hike was a lot easier than your scramble. I do like those rocks, caves, and small passages. Looks like a lot of fun! Great view!

    That crazy San Rafael river is an interesting trip. On the list too.
    Going up that reef I 70
    Is actually really cool. Looking down at I 70 from top is wild.
    South side has an arch. It is big formation. The reef. Huge. Both sides. The north side is Black Dragon. River splits reef. North side.
    Gemini Arch area is awesome. Rappelling points epic. There has to be an easy climb up section.
    It is easy to get too. Dead Horse 🐎 SP road. Trifecta. Reef Gemini. Dead Horse. Drive out road from NP.
    I drove from Cal shitty to Moab dozens of times. 10 hours.

    ELISE and ADAM a hello from France. Very nice hike in the den of snakes and tarantulas that can hide in the hollows of each of the caves, but fortunately the fairies of nature have protected you from these bad encounters. The end of autumn casts bright yellow colors on the golden leaves of the trees that will eventually fall asleep under the weight of winter, which makes you dream as Christmas approaches. ELISE and ADAM, don't you want to go caving, probably accompanied, which could taint your thirst for freedom to be alone in the beauty of nature. I'm looking forward to new videos before the end of the year which is just around the corner, otherwise I wish you a Merry Christmas in anticipation and a Happy Holidays. Kisses to both of you. DAN
    ELISE et ADAM un bonjour de France. Très belle randonnée dans l’antre des serpents et des mygales qui peuvent se cacher aux creux de chacune des grottes, mais heureusement les fées de la nature vous ont protégées de ces mauvaises rencontres. La fin de l’automne jette des couleurs jaune vif sur les feuilles dorées des arbres qui vont finir par s’endormir sous le poids de l’hiver, ce qui fait rêver à l’approche de noël. ELISE et ADAM, n’avez-vous pas envie de faire de la spéléologie sans doute accompagnée, ce qui pourrait entacher votre soif de liberté d’être seuls dans la beauté de la nature. J’attends avec impatience de nouvelles vidéos avant la fin de l’année qui se dessine à grands pas, sinon je vous souhaite un joyeux noël par anticipation et de bonnes fêtes de fin d’année. Bises à vous deux. DAN

    Wow. This looks like a lot of fun! Granite bolder scrambling 😍.The rock that looks like glacier ice! 😶 The La Sportiva approach shoes have the best grip and feel second to my climbing shoes. Love em and do almost all of my hikes in them.

    • @LiveHardxLoveHard
      @LiveHardxLoveHard  5 місяців тому

      Totally agree, Hermann. The La Sportivas are just fantastic for this kind of scrambling, and give us so much more confidence on the sketchy slabby parts! It really is beautiful rock, and though not as slippery as ice it's actually pretty slick in the parts that are polished from waterfalls! ❤️

    I did this hike when I happened to be driving through the area in early October. I had 2 hours to use, so I went up to the "end" and then looked for a loop hike back down. I backtracked a short bit and started down a narrow canyon going due north, but soon decided it looked too unknown and sketchy to commit.
    It was a fun hike with some great water-polished sections! I wonder how you guys returned???

    • @LiveHardxLoveHard
      @LiveHardxLoveHard  6 місяців тому

      That's awesome you did this! We had some of the same issue with trying to loop around -- it seemed like we always came to a section that was just a little bit too sketchy, but it was always kind of a close call! Eventually, we just backtracked and climbed up one of those big rock walls to get a view from the top (a few sketchy moves in there, especially coming down), and then just continued back basically the way we came. And agree with you -- a really fun hike! ❤️

    Those rocks look pleasantly smooth. In other parts of Joshua Tree, the boulders' surface is of razor-sharp crystals, like 0.2 grit sandpaper.

    • @LiveHardxLoveHard
      @LiveHardxLoveHard  6 місяців тому +1

      Ya James these rocks were great for scrambling -- enough grit to feel totally comfortable you're not going to slip, but not so much that it slices you to shreds. Those little thorny plants that are everywhere, though, are a different story! ❤️

I saw so many restrictions about taking my dog on any hiking trail. But, I wonder what would happen if I just took him off trail?? The rangers' guidance was that Remy could go anywhere that cars could go. But....if it was out in the sticks hmmmmm? I'll top belay him up to 25 feet up or down; which looked perfect for your route on those class 3ish climbs. Have a super week! We prob won't be out in mid-December because that's when my brother visits, but we will for sure track you down out there at some point. Meanwhile, I think this hike would be perfect for Remy. There's no trail and likely no people, especially if you went on a weekday, and SO much fun stuff for adventurous humans and pups to check out all along the canyon! --A

    Wow, that was a very dynamic video (even more so than usual)! However, if this thing is called a Rattlesnake canyon, I would be very careful with putting hands into the cracks and crawling through the narrow holes. I remember one easy hike in the Badlands where rattlesnakes abound, was cool to see them in the wild but I felt a bit tense watching the ground near myself. Also I imagine that during this part of the year Joshua Tree is actually a pleasant place and not a frying pan...

    • @LiveHardxLoveHard

      Yes you are absolutely right -- it is perfect weather in J-Tree right now! About 55 or 60 F, so you want to wear layers but it still feels nice in the sun. We were worried about snakes for sure, but never even saw one! ❤️

    Do not mess with the rattlesnakes out there. The mojave rattler is quite dangerous if you get bitten. I got rattled at in j-tree crossing a shallow crevice, I made the "decision" to pull up my feet and continue on a ballistic trajectory until i had passed over the crevice in question. Minor scrapes, but no rattlesnake bites, I considered it a win...
