Azure Monitor Agent (AMA) collects monitoring data from the guest operating system of Azure and hybrid virtual machines and delivers it to Azure Monitor for use by features, insights, and other services, such as Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender for Cloud. It can be deployed on VMs and physical servers (Windows and Linux). learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/agents/agents-overview The agent is not installed on PaaS services. Any idea how soon it can support proxy configuration or private link ? With no public internet and without one of these not sure what would be option to send the performance data to Azure Monitor Metrics as a destination..

Hello, Can we collect custom metrics using AMA (like using a PowerShell script etc.) anything which is not provided out of the box by AMA?

curious what is Microsoft monitor agent? did Microsoft changed the name? Is there a document the describe all the agents and use cases?
