Terrific vid as always, Doddy. BUT....I almost got distracted by the complexity of your watch! More dials on it than a rear shock w/piggyback, rebound, low and hi speed compression, etc. :-)
Stumbled on this video and has been informative. But still a bit not clear about sagging. You mentioned to unlock fully before setting the sag but nothing in your video talked about what to do after setting is over. Secondly if after initial setting the sag is lower than expected, should the psi be increased or decreased?
This has been very helpful, just got a new bike and didn't know anything about how to do this prior to watching. Question: You've put the correct PSI on, did the test and the sag is still too high (40%), so what do you do to get it lower? More air?
Great show 👍 The Basic information works for me . On my rear rockshox The top rubber bushes seem to have a gritty sound not sure if I need to let the air out first to remove and clean them or maybe the bolts or just overtightened .
Question: If I am seemingly losing psi in the negative chamber but not the main, what could be the culprit? Could the negative be trying to equalize with the positive?
Doddy please help me! I watched so many toturials and damper video's the last 3+ plus year's I'm really heavy same height as you approximately but way way over hundred kilos and need so much air in the rear shock it's just ridiculous and they need service way too often or I'm going low riding lower and lower with apro the same psi. So now I started taking out hundred psi after I'm finished riding and blow it back up next time I go for a ride on it. Do that help to prolong the inner parts of the damper similar to not storage airguns with air in the chamber. Or is it so little help because it gets so much more pressure when using the damper when it goes up and down plus friction so taking out the air after becomes like a drop in the ocean? I
Hey Doddy! Any chance you might be able to talk about Fox’s GRIP2 dampener? Find it tricky to “dial” the settings to where it feels right. How should it feel when the GRIP2 is dialed in?
Is it really safe to jump on your bike while the pump is connected to a rear suspension?? Please, share some info about the potential dagers from bottoming out. Thanks, cheers
Hi, Very grateful to you. When the shock is "Locked", is it when it's fully extended or it could be "Locked" when compressed so it shortens the distance? Thank you
Is it possible to remove shockers on my bike, and if so, will it break my bike if i remove the shockers? And if it doesn't break the bike, how can i exactly remove the shockers? I have a rear spring shock, and I want to remove it permanantly.
Slushy Rides air shock you can run lots of air can spacers and run lots of sag. Though coil tends to feel plusher off the top (depends on what you mean by soft). I'd say air imo
I’ve got a commencal meta tr v4.2 origin and I want to get a dropper post and I don’t know how much drop I should get on it. Do you recommend any droppers and I’m on a budget of $300 aud which is 165 pounds. Also I’m 170cm if that helps
$300 👀 ... you should be good finding a proper dropper. Just get the maximum drop to suit your ride height - cuz you don't want to find yourself moaning about the 2inches of more travel you could have gotten! If you end up not needing all the drop, just get an easy to install drop reducer (collar, 15 bucks). No brainer IMO.
EVOL DPS 130mm, 0.6 volume spacer. I am getting up to 260PSI (with some leak on disconnect) before I bottom out on 2 foot drops. 200LBS weight. Does it sound like too much?
No it doesn't. 350psi is max. Make sure you fill and remove air properly. See the fox link. www.ridefox.com/fox17/help.php?m=bike&id=940#usingtheevolairsleeve
can i just ask and anyone can comment. So my rebound is worked out to be 7 clicks, do i count the first click as position number 2? ie lowest position is 1. i'm assuming zero doesn't exist. I understand that i need to play about with it but that would only really mean going up or down 1 click i'm just not sure which its actually number 7. Cheers.
Hey doddy, I have a Rockshox monarch rt3 debonair and recently I added some bottomless rings to my shock, now my shock is having issues. I found that my shock sinks deeper and deeper into the travel just by sitting on it and not returning back and my sag is set perfectly, even when riding it sinks deeper and deeper and not extending back and my rebound is also set correctly what my problem
Sounds like you somehow managed to block/clog the equalization valve/hole of the shock so the air can't flow back after compressing the shock. Take it apart and check for grease or spacers blocking the port.

So helpful. Just got my first full suspension bike and this video Is great. Keep up the good work.
nice helpful sharing thank you
My rear suspension set up: 25% sag. Compression & rebound adjustment to suit terrain: Smoother terrain without many bumps = increased compression & rebound (stiffer ride); Rough, bumpy terrain (ie. rocks , roots etc) = less compression & rebound = faster acting, more responsive suspension for smoother ride. And remember correct tire pressure factors in as well.
my freeride suspension is rock hard no rebound like 2 sag
@@ryanmonson4033 if you set it up so hard then why not just ride a hard tail and not bother with rear suspension?

Is it normal to hear a sound like air leak from rear air shock when go off road?
Hi,
Very grateful to you. When the shock is "Locked", is it when it's fully extended or it could be "Locked" when compressed so it shortens the distance?
Thank you
A Lockout affects only the compression damping, so if your compressing the shock. That's why it resists moving. Rebound is not affected!
I have to run my shock really hard (a lot harder than my weight) in order to not bottom out doing any drops or features
Is it possible to remove shockers on my bike, and if so, will it break my bike if i remove the shockers? And if it doesn't break the bike, how can i exactly remove the shockers? I have a rear spring shock, and I want to remove it permanantly.

Shouldn't you be setting your sag in the attack position rather than the seated position since since you're on an enduro bike?
it depends, the manufacturer of my bike says seated with the seat on the pedaling height.
