True!! I have two main pairs of black boots and wear them with different outfits. The length of the shaft and thickness of the sole and heel determine how I style them.
Go to a shoe hospital and they can add leather to the sides of the zipper to make the calf fit. I've had it done to all my boots and they look like they were made for me
I have super thin calves. I end up looking like a little child wearing their moms big shoes that don’t fit. I had one pair of boots ONCE that I loved and wore them until they fell apart. I’ve given up.
Omg, I knew that longer shaft boots look better on me without understanding it was due to the fact that my thighs are longer than my calves, which I just learned.
Can you please match up the pictures hem to hem, shoulder to shoulder…the image on the right looks stretched out. The only significant difference I see between the images is the magnification/size.
So true & this also applies to most clothing items. The best starting place is good quality, that is universally best for everyone & why your channel is so helpful 💛
I'm pretty sure that my calves and my thighs are the same length, but I'm also quite short so i don't think boots like this would work for me personally
I am always speechless at how informative your videos are and how much they make sense of things I never really thought about. Thank you for the great fashion tips as always 🫶🏽
The boots on the left are also slouching down because the shaft is too fitted to the calf. The boys on the right are the perfect size at the calf to allow for the boot to be smooth all the way up the leg further emphasizing vertical length
I'm a size 42.5 to 43. If I could actually find a pair of boots that fitted my foot, my ankles and my calves I'd be so pleased I wouldn't care where they hit on my leg. It must be so nice for people that actually get to have a choice! Must be like a child in a sweetshop. I tend to wear wide leg or flares anyway so the shaft of the boots would be hidden under my jeans or cords.
Disappointingly, slim calves make most boots look like wellies. First world problems, I know, but it was frustrating when I was young and cared a lot, and they were super fashionable. For riding, it's sometimes necessary to switch to half chaps, which have a slightly adjustable fit.
I am having a hard time with your post. I actually had to take some time to rethink. Im so tired of it being difficult to find shoes in larger sizes. No, it's not your fault. Even shoe manufacturers haven't realized how many women are needing larger sizes. I've gone to shoe shoes and the sizes available are still not usually available in larger sizes. By the time they get it we won't need shoes anymore!! 😢
Shaft length with knee-highs never bothered me or had me putting too much focus on them in this manner due to other issues I find with finding the right pair when you have long scrawny legs, only the thigh-highs I pay attention to length closely. Knee-highs almost never go where I’d prefer for them to be when it comes to the knee ones, anyways, so I try to not put too much focus on it … it’s everything else with them that is more annoying. Even if they magically come to the height I prefer, they almost never fit properly around the calves without manipulating them somehow (thick leg warmers stuffed down inside - still leaves a big gap). I really don’t want to pay $400+ for a pair that fits well, but has a heel height that is too tall (I don’t need more height added, just a mini 1-2” boost) and doesn’t have squared off or pointed toes (as I have a personal issue with my feet looking bigger or wider, which I do not want - rounded toe boots helps that a lot). If anyone has any suggestions with brands, I’m open to them. Finding that right pair that comes 3” below the knee, fits the calves right without flopping like a bell when I take a step, has enough sturdiness to not fall down or give the slouch look (which I do not like), doesn’t have a tall heel height, and is rounded within a $100-300 range that I can see and try on in-person is like finding a rare unicorn when I’m shopping for boots. I admit I’m too picky with them, but still. Smaller calves with a 12” circumference in women’s sizes are not kept in mind with most styles concerning boots, unfortunately, (minus thigh-highs, I’ve somehow had decent luck with finding ones that hug well and don’t slide down), so I have to be pickier than usual compared to other footwear.
I desperately want a good pair of fitted, knee-high riding boots, but my legs are skinny and my feet are flat so I've yet to ever find a pair that fit properly, let alone one that didn't cost $400+. 😢
I'd rather say "the perfect pair of boots" and mean "for myself, and in my opinion", first there's no perfection imho. And of course everybody would need to accomodate different things. If people claim something is "perfect for everyone" I never buy into it.
I'm not very tall (5'4/5'5) but I have pretty long legs and I honestly can't tell if my thighs or calves are longer, they're pretty equal. My favorite boots cut off at the knee cap, though, and I think they look pretty good
Fashion is not my number one talent, but my two sense is that when someone says they found the perfect boot they mean the perfect boot for them… Also , the boot on the right, makes her leg thicker, and it’s uglier. The longer chef makes you taller and skinnier
I have the opposite problem which makes it difficult.. my calves are shorter than my thighs. So I can’t wear a lot of tall boots.. has to have specific silhouettes
Can someone clarify for me please? Is the "shaft" mentioned the portion of the boot that covers the leg? This seems true from context clues, but i want to be sure
The whole picture on the right has been shifted up tp make her claims seem true. The skirt is shorter, the shirt is raised up higher. There was no difference. She created a difference with shifting the picture. And I love her content. So sad to see her be deceptive.
Any tips for us short ladies with thunder thighs and cumulonimbus calves? I always feel like knee highs make me look like I'm walking on stumps. That's IF I can find a pair of boots that will even fit my calves in the first place.
@@tomjones2157It's so crazy that you suggested those because I just got a pair of Sam Edelman boots that stop right at my lower calf. I was so skeptical about them. I thought they looked a bit strange on me (but they're so beautiful and comfortable) so you saying that gave me a little boost of confidence.Thank you!

Just finding knee length boots that fit my calves is almost impossible, and my calves are not that big!

100000% percent agree. This is not a fair comparison
You have to look at the relative distance from knee to the top of the boot, that's the only distance that matters

What if ur calves and thighs are the same length and you’re petite ?
@godstan3231 short or long thigh boots. Always fitted at the ankle. Never slouchy, baggy or chunky. Ie more delicate to match your features.
This is genius!
Eh wish they fit my anyway. My calves are just too beautifully thick for these stick thin legs boots 💀😭😭

What if our calves and thighs are both the same and neither is shorter?
