When using a measuring tape when finding perimeter or area take the measurements to one decimal place(easier number interpretation)for accurate calculation especially when multiplying.

Thank you very much but, according to ISO ( International Standards Organization) and ANSI (American National Standards Institute ) it should be not more ambiguous and arbitrary. It was confusing in the past times and for some regions, now it is diferent. Now Not matter from wich point of view we are looking at one object the longest measure of that object should be the length. It might be located at our front side or; left, right, top, bottom, vertical, horizontal, oblique etc. May be for some mathematician certain calculations requires the proper assumption of wich is length and width.

I just made up my own thing to make it easier , so the letter "L" in length means, "Longest Side". So everytime the longest side comes up on a rectangle i just call tht one length n the other one then has to be width.

Great question! Both the length and width are equal, so in my opinion, the length and width are interchangeable in that situation unless otherwise specified.

well in the first place. When you measure a 2 dimentsional object, you use width and height. Length should be used in 3 dimensional object.

Length isnt applicable in 2 dimensional object. Its width x height in 2d. In 3d, its length, height and width.
