MAC101 Demo: Manic Bloom "Never Back Down"
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 чер 2011
- This show was programmed shortly after Starlite Productions took an order of 48 Martin MAC101 LED moving heads for rental stock. These fixtures are awesome - super fast (but, as this video shows, not as fast as the visualizer in my head) and incredibly bright for their size. You can daisy chain up to 10 of them with Powercon link cables and you can put up to 22 on a single 20 amp circuit. Talk about power-saving!
The show was programmed on a GrandMA Light and all of the timing was done with an external timecode sync with the MA's timecode learn capability. I did not have extensive time to program or to timecode so the show is not as good as some of my others - but for what I did (a couple nights of programming at home and bits and pieces of two days in the shop), I think it turned out pretty well. The ending isn't as strong as I wanted it to be due to tracking issues that I had a hard time fixing. I learned my lessons, though, and know how to correct them in the future!
Music is buy the awesome guys of Manic Bloom (www.manicbloom.com). Check these guys out - their music is really good. I've been a fan of theirs for about as long as they've had a good internet presence.
Rig: 48x Martin MAC101, 11x Martin MAC700 Profile
Control: GrandMA Light
Rig was constructed on 4x 11' (10' + cornerblock) verticals of truss on 125# bases with 2' and 6' pipes all over the place. The top four MAC700s were hung on the demo truss. The MAC700s were not used as much because this is a show to showcase the MAC101s. Show programmed for the Martin Lighting demo held at Starlite Productions. - Розваги
your videos never cease to amaze me.
it is spectacular.
best lightshow I have seen in a long time! AMAZING!
Very nice light show BRAVO !
Good job! ;) can`t get enough of this video!
Alright bro, Im seriously impressed, ive watched back through all of your video's and im amazed. now i see the cool stuff like here with a bunch of awesome martins and a gradMA2...but the fact that you were able to do all the fancy stuff back without all the new fancy super technical toys is awesome. My hat is off to you.
Awesome show! Love these fixtures.
Great tune, and one of the best live light show around, for sure. I never get tired watching it. Timecode on MA - that sounds very complicated.... Keep up with the good work!
nice work there. it not only shows your programming/design skills but also the effectiveness and speed of the 101s
Wooooooo that was amazing!!!!!! Loved it!
It's fantastic! Best Light show i've ever seen on youtube! You are a god!
This in My Opinion is One of the BEST DEMOS for the Mac 101! The Programmer is A Legend! As well as the LD! My Brain cannot Comprehend how awesome this is!! I love Watching the First LX Que for the 101 Burst through, and Smash through the 250. Martin are one of My all time Makers for Moving Heads, and the Quality is Superb! WELL DONE!
Sweet design! Great programming
Thats freaking badass man.
FANTASTIC! This sort would be an excelent video backdrop. Wouldn't mind having the real thing up and running behind me on my non-classical performances. Great work! Thanks for sharing. :)
Can't stop watching.
This is the 13th time I think
Pretty sweet. love the 101, used a bunch for a small event over the summer, those things are tiny, fast, and bright
Just wonderful. I love it. It was perfectly create. :D
That is an incredible amount of technology crammed in a tiny space. I'm just saying that because I'm jealous. Nice programming as well. Makes me want to to give up and try out a GrandMA.
Fantastic lighting! I have just finished coordinating my first show and want to work further with my lighting crew to develop it into something like this. Thanks for the inspiration!
Good job!
that was amazing.
@demb3k See the equipment list in the video/description: it's an MA Light. I flesh those out for a reason! Glad you enjoyed it!
That was sick!

I agree that having more does help, but I have 12 on a rig i'm doing now and they still look incredible!
The SHOW!
unbelievable
Do i actualy need to buy the m-sync? i got the martin Duel box and i use one for output and one for analog console. Is it posible to use the TimeCode from a file running on the same pc running M-PC?
SUPER fly!!
WoooW Its great!!!
просто потрясающе великолепно...!!! у меня слов нет настолько я восхищен!!!
There is no software that will generate showfiles universally compatible with major lighting consoles. Most consoles have an OLE - OffLine Editor - or a PC version of the software that requires a special DMX interface in order to get DMX out of your computer. Some examples of PC lighting controllers are GrandMA onPC, Martin M-PC, Hog II/III PC, MagicQ PC, and Avolites Titan Mobile. There are control surfaces available for all of these so you can use a computer as a lighting controller.
What Lighting Console did you use and have you seen the M6 yet? We have it at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside and am Loving every bit of this software and console. My bud is the head lighting tech there and I'm his trainee. I have to ask this, how many channels are you using and universes?
Thanks for posting these awesome vids.
@ThatSpicySauce RAW mode. In RAW, the Red channel controls just the red LEDs, the Green just green, and the Blue channel just blue LEDs. The RGB mode tries to correct for consoles' color mixing engines. I much prefer RAW because it's the way to get the pure, saturated colors that a single color of LEDs provides. The 100% output is also a tad bit higher if I remember right because RGB tries to make a "corrected" white by lessening some of the colors for a better white light.
I currently use the MagicQ PC. The console surface basically pops up on your laptop screen and you can use it in just the same way as using the actual console. I own the console and used it both with and without my laptop. Chamsys also has an app for ipad and for android so you can walk around the venue and run the lights off a tablet. Two things about MagicQ that I love is that the software is free and for a small investment, you can buy an ethernet to DMX adapter and run it solely on laptop.
nice
how does the Grand MA compared to a Road Hog? I've only ever use Road Hog and love it and was just wondering if you have an opinion
this was great
i was wondering if i had equal fixtures do you sell pregrammed shows that i can just dn load to my comp.? if so i would be really interested in the fees i thank you for the time and great video
my best regards ron
applause
What did you use to program that? (PS that was fantastic)
Hello! Just a quick question. Were you switching anything on and off during the lights show, or was everything programmed beforehand and you just press play or something?
Have you been doing the lights for eurovision? because it looks kinda same as there.
It's the sheer number of them that is you perception of these lights more than they are. Don't get me wrong these are amazing, but how much different would it look if you had just a dozen? Quite a bit... And it's all about the programming!
do you have the fixtures in RGB or RAW mode? I can't seem to figure out which is better, haha.
jador the beginning the guitar solo huge :)
Amazing!Told my LJ if he could program like this, i would buy another 24 pcs Mac 101,we just have 24 of them (:
I just had to press play on the audio track, all of the lights were run off of timecode after I did a timecode learn to get the console timecode set up.
verry good stuff*_*
Thats insane! Those 101s are pretty darn bright! Still prefer the Robe Robin 300 led washes but then again they are a lot more pricey!
@patriotviper you can get really creative with the mac500s. We have the ION at our school and unfortunately I have not had time to mess with it yet, but its a pretty advanced lighting console. My best guess is you need to figure out how to do macro commands with the ION (making the heads move on a pattern). You can do them with Martin light jockey if you have that.
wooow!
soy fanatico de las lusesssss me encantann
Crazy
hey, id like to make a timecode tutorial based on this Show, it will be made on the GrandMA 2 Software.
Do you allow me to?
Nice for in the USA, where bigger is always better. And if 1 doesn't work, let take 48 of them !
LED's a very nice for in a modem, computer or other "HIGH SPEED SIGNAL LIGHTING" with low energy consumption. But it's not a BULB ! It's a diode used for the wrong reasons...
So this demo really good demostrates: Why you need to flash with a LED and can't do real lighting like fading slowly to zero..
Nice for Epilepsy people, just 5% of the audiance ! (But only people with EXPERIANCE know this)
what kind of DMX interfaces do u use..
and how many? because 48 martins uses more than 512 channels?
wow
Did you make this? Would you allow me to use this in a demo video of mine?
I did indeed create this show. Message me with the nature of the demo video and how this video would be used and I'll let you know. It is an demo for my current employer so I'd have to check first.
omg aqwsome
God Bless haze.
It's too much... very haphazardly done
OMG
Hey Do you have an email, I have some questions.
I am working on a new protocol for lighting to make them quicker and sync easier.
ALSO RGB Mode is a bad Idea. Color should be sent as a HSU value
I am doing away with DMX Channels and switching to a CAN bus based protocol. I want the lights to have action vectors, where the devices can be loaded a certain "cue" that prevents constant flooding of the bus, allowing for a global sync signal to be use or update certain groups for better timing
BEST LIGHTING EVAER OMG OMG LIKE OMG LIKE OMG
voce tem essa programação gravada amigo
@Chupippomink It all comes down to personal preference but I find that the MA is just a better console to program on. I much prefer MA's division of palettes/presets to Hog's, and the playback options on MA are far beyond Hog. With a double wide executor you can do so much with one cuelist or effect or chase. The MA also has much more customizable layouts and more options than the Hog. Really, it comes down to personal preference, but there's a reason the MA1 is pretty much the desk to know.
how much money is this light show just for the lights?
Speedy Gonzales endorses the Mac 101
perferct demonstration@
hi. can I download and use your video in my clip for free? thank you
\m/ ... WOW!!!
Oh my god xD
Shit, they are fast!
This would be a complicated programming job. Rewarding, nonetheless.
damnnn!!! O_o
I think this is really really good, but i think that there was almost too much going on at some moments. I'm no lighting designer, but that's just my opinion having no technical knowledge of lighting set ups/designing.
hey
@2385Lucifer You don't know what a product demo is do you?
martin heads are cool, but I don't want use it alone without other lighteffects. (sorry im austrian my english is not so good)
think again.. do you reaaally wanna do that?
chase at 1:26.....?!?!
To bad the didn't record the FAN sound from the crapy martin fan's.
I toured once with a martin 2000 pro. What a amateur crap whas that !
Noisy fan, very hard to clean and eating dust like madness.
We had to have 1 spare part for every thing. So we toured with old scool with "flighcases" from the 90's in the beginning !! Because the crap will break in transport if you keep the thing on your "riddable-and-stacked-trust" system. So for profesional use? Nice for in the disco !
