Boston Manor: "Stick Up" - Light Show at The Ruby Stage
Programmed at Squeek Lights' The Ruby Stage
Filmed and edited by Ben Kelly
Music: "Stick Up" by Boston Manor

Elation Artiste Picassos
Elation Dartz 360s

Clay Paky B-EYE K20 + Sharpy Light Show
Переглядів 52 тис.10 років тому
Here it is, the brand new, multi-award-winning Clay Paky A.LEDA B-EYE K20, along with its Clay Paky cousin the Sharpy. Just as the Sharpys re-defined what a beam light was capable of, the B-EYE is redefining what an LED "wash" light is capable of. Starlite Productions (www.starlite.com) is one of the first rental companies in the USA to have the B-EYE K20s available for rental. These fixtures c...
Light Show: Manic Bloom "False Prophet"
Переглядів 12 тис.10 років тому
This show was programmed for Starlite Productions' Technology Showcase in September 2013. [www.starlite.com] It showcases the Martin MAC Auras & MAC101s as well as Clay Paky Sharpys. Elation sent me some of their new products as well, the CuePix Panels and the Rayzor Q7s. I was very impressed with the CuePix Panels. All of the programming for them was done simply via the standard effects in the...
MAC101 Demo: Manic Bloom "Never Back Down"
Переглядів 707 тис.13 років тому
This show was programmed shortly after Starlite Productions took an order of 48 Martin MAC101 LED moving heads for rental stock. These fixtures are awesome - super fast (but, as this video shows, not as fast as the visualizer in my head) and incredibly bright for their size. You can daisy chain up to 10 of them with Powercon link cables and you can put up to 22 on a single 20 amp circuit. Talk ...

Second light show programmed on the HOG1000. My friend helped me this time, with the programming and some design aspects. I designed the rig and the show, he did most of the actual board programming while I helped him learn the console. RIG: 4x HES Studio Spot 575, 6x HES Technobeam, 4x Custom light bars, 1x Radiance Hazer
HOG1000 Programming w/VL2500s
Переглядів 9 тис.14 років тому
My first time programming a show on a HOG1000. Before this point I had only used the console for testing fixtures, so I didn't know much about recording playbacks or anything about the effects engine. Fixtures are 8 VL2500 spots and 6 VL2500 washes. I forgot how much I absolutely love the stock gobo selection in the VL2500s - there are some awesome gobos in there that aren't in the 3000 spots t...

This is the light show that I designed for the fall 2009 concert of the Bucknell Dance Company. The light show was included in the program just like any other dance, but the only dancers were my lights, and it was about a quarter or a fifth of the length of any given dance. The show is to a soundtrack piece by Keith Emerson (of ELP fame). This show was programmed for the audience in the theatre...

Here's my final Bucknell Open House Light Show. Designed to Paul McCartney's wonderful James Bond theme "Live and Let Die". Control was from an ETC ION (huzzah, we own them now!), and fixture inventory is below: 6x Intellabeam 700HX 12x Seachanger Wash 4x Seachanger Profile 2x Rosco DMX Iris (in center icue units) 4x Rosco I-Cue in 19* Source 4s) 2x Dataflash AF1000 (4 in rig, 2 were used 'caus...

My test drive of the ETC ION. The rep that demo'd the console to us left it with us for a few weeks to check out. So I just had to do a light show with it. Rig: 4x Intellabeam 700HX 2x Roboscan Pro 518 4x Dataflash AF1000 2x Diversitronics S4 Strobe Cap in S4 reflector/yoke assembly 2x I-Cue in 26 degree S4 with Smart Move DMX rotator 4x 50 degree S4 with Smart Move DMX rotators 4x S4 PAR NSP w...

A light show to all 7 of Gustav Holst's compositions on The Planets mixed together. Programmed on an Obsession ML, some of the cueing was follow times and some of the cueing was triggered via Qlab Pro MIDI via MSC GO commands. Rig - 4x VL3000 Spot, 6x Intellabeam 700HX, 2x Roboscan Pro 518, and some conventionals (cyc lights, Source 4s with rotators). This piece was included in the 2008 Bucknel...

The light show for the 2008 Bucknell Theatre Dept. Fall Open House. Programmed on an ETC Obsession 750 using the internal SMPTE clock at 30 frames per second. I am fortunate enough to have one of the Moving Light Designer's Remotes, but programming movers with an Obsession is always interesting at best, even with the ML extension. I am happy with most of the programming, but not all of it. Ther...

A light show to a shortened version of OAR's Love & Memories. I designed and programmed the show for the Bucknell Dance Company Fall 2007 Concert, and it was a great honor to be included, as the piece features no dancers other than the lights. Package: 4x VL3000 spot 6x Intellabeam 700HX 2x S4-26 w/I-Cue, Smart Move, and R39 1x S4-10 w/heart gobo and R26 Show was programmed on an Obsession 600,...

Updated: Scroll Down for Inventory A light show that was put together for the Bucknell Deptartment of Theatre and Dance's Open House in late August 2007. I put a lot of hard work and programming time in to this, and am pleased with the results. However, for you technical minded folks like myself, you will notice that at least two of the scrollers stopped working in the middle of the show. Enjoy...

    Good job, We have an Ion in my theatre. It's intense. most music guys don't like it because it's to theatrical capable but it's a better desk for sure.

    • @soundlight
      @soundlight 5 років тому

      IONs are great for single-stack theatre shows, but knowing now how to program well on MA (1 and 2), Onyx, Chamsys, Hog, and others, I wouldn't want to program this show again on an ION. It's cumbersome for how I program. It was what I had at the time, but it's not the tool I'd choose now. For theatrical shows it's great, but it's not a concert desk by any stretch.

      I honestly can't remember if I timecoded this or just did all autofollow cues. Either way, I only pressed the go button once. It would be too hard to hit all of that live!

    In my opinoin the B-EYE fixtures are great, but not because of the novel functions that this video mostly features, simply because it's an amazing wash light. Messing around with the pixel zones and all the other cool things is neat, but when it comes to show lighting, the B-eye fixtures are the first LED fixture in my opinion that beats out previous generation of lamp based wash lights, like the VL line. Although, the Mythos from Clay Paky might just prove me wrong as it's amazing, and not an LED source.

    • @soundlight
      @soundlight 6 років тому

      A year later I come back to read comments... there's a lot to compete with discharge wash units now - my latest favorite is the Chauvet MK3 Wash - that thing is an absolute beast. Huge output easily surpassing a VL3500 Wash in any color other than raw 6000K white, and it has hella zoom to boot. The MK3 is a power hog compared to other LED fixtures though with its 1100W LED system (27x 40W LEDs). The Robe Spiider is also quite nice but I prefer the raw size and output of the MK3.

    • @soundlight
      @soundlight 8 років тому

      +Adam Mester All of the Cuepix stuff was done on the console. I just ran linear effects on all the pixels with various selection orders & groupings, no media server or pixel mapping for them, just lots of selection orders and groupings.

  • @slaction

    You're really good at this style of lighting, great for trade shows and EDM and things like that, but not how you would actually light a live song.

    • @soundlight
      @soundlight 8 років тому

      +slaction Definitely not how to light a live show - I've designed for dozens of concerts and this is not how they're run. Many fewer cues, much less distracting lighting. This show, however, is specifically to show off technical capabilities and features of fixtures, so I went all out.

      Well comparing a Mac 101 and the a.leda Bee EYE is like comparing apples to oranges. they are two very different fixtures. now granted yes i'd would take these over 101's any day, but the price point of a 101 compared to the Bee EYE is unmatched. Also btw the MA is the best console out there.

    It's the sheer number of them that is you perception of these lights more than they are. Don't get me wrong these are amazing, but how much different would it look if you had just a dozen? Quite a bit... And it's all about the programming!
