- One interesting model of an old sewing machine. This is a relatively rare specimen, I did some general cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, tension upper and lower thread..itd, listen to how it sounds.

I have this machine and it sews a wonderful stitch, it is strong and will sew many layers of material with ease. No plastic gears to break and looked after will give years of good service

Yes, I agree, I still prefer older models of sewing machines.
Before moving pattern selector buttons you MUST press the pressure release button on top left side of the head and keep pressing until the desired pattern is selected .. READ THE MANUAL Page 18. !! Not doing so can cause damage !

Thank you for this tip.I bought one 611G from a second hand machine dealer and I just cannot work this out.The one pattern selector has a knob and the other pattern selector does not have a knob, very tight to change , will try to release pressure as you suggested.

Hello, this machine originally had a metal bobbin and you use a plastic bobbin. Could you tell me what is the height of the bobbin? 10mm or 11mm? Thanks for the video
This machine came for repair with only one bobbin, I looked for the same one in my accessories and I found two plastic, apparently it is a rare dimension, unfortunately I don't remember the dimensions, but you can determine that based on the bobbin you have in your sewing machine, plastic and metal must be of the same dimensions.
Hi do this strong enough for few layers of fabric or heavy weight fabric?
It’s hard to answer such a question, if you have a machine try it and,
if you want to buy a heavy weight fabric sewing machine, “heavy weight fabric” can be anything, I don’t know. Not much should be expected from this an old classic home sewing machine.

Breaking the upper thread, it is a very common problem, the causes are many, most common: very high tension upper thread, old thread, poor quality thread, cheap needles of poor quality, problem on the hook for the upper thread...etc

As far as I remember, you are correct, I think there are no plastic gears, this is an older model of the sewing machine and it is very rare today, you can see how it is lubricated and maintained at the following link:

which round bobbins you use?
That's a good question, The Singer 631 has a specific bobbin size, for this model I found a few matching pieces in my workshop, unfortunately I don't know the exact dimension. i sold the machine and have no insight into the dimension.

That machine uses a Singer class 66 bobbin.. You must find them of good quality.. Some are too small and bounce around in the bobbin case.
It uses a standard Class 66 bobbin, Singer recommend the plastic ones but I've also used metal
