To kill all of this noise. In the end, whether Kendrick "is" or "isn't" the or one of the greatest rappers/artist ever, the fact that we've been having this conversation for almost a decade now speaks volumes. You can't deny that it's on the people's mind. I'm a huge fan and I place him somewhere between Tupac and Wu-Tang ( pick any member)
The fact that we been having this conversation for so long is why I can call him overrated since TPAB ppl been calling him top 5 or top ten like there aren't tons of legends with dope catalogs. But I can agree that Kendrick is somewhere between Tupac and masta killa.
My opinion on Kendrick - he has made some enjoyable pop-rap songs. King Kunta, Money Trees, Humble, Pride, Wesley's Theory, Swimming Pools, and Alright are either above average or good. To me, I've always felt like "The Recipe" is his only good hiphop song and it was heavily carried by the sample if we're being honest. Kendrick's "rap flow" is terrible. He cannot flow over a beat for the most part, and even his beat selection itself isn't very good to begin with. Kendrick is either just rapping fast and not properly complimenting the beat or he's just speaking over the beat (like on SAMIDOT). This is because Kendrick most likely writes his verses BEFORE listening to the beat so often in musical translation it isn't pleasing to listen to. If Kendrick's rap flow was so good why does he never perform great on features with more interesting beats? He was awful on New Freezer with Rich the Kid and Goosebumps was polarising. Like everyone makes fun of Rich the Kid and yet he actually greatly outperformed Kendrick on that. I'm not a fan of Drake's "personality", I think Kendrick is more "likeable" than Drake. I mean, Drake is always in the spotlight and gets negative rep for his antics. Kendrick is private so it's not easy to find reasons to hate on him as a person, although he has made himself a hot topic through some of his music lyrics directed at other rappers (like Control). But Drake IS a better rapper than Kendrick and people will think this is blasphemy but it's facts. Drake's rap flow is better, he has better beat selection, and has more memorable lines. Yes, what Drake often raps about isn't progressive, like Kendrick's is, but this is just one factor of many that you have to rank rappers. Solely based on the fact that Kendrick raps about "the black struggle" is the reason he is better? Music is about replay value, what will age well in decades? I mean, at the end of the day, both Drake and Kendrick make music for casuals, Kendrick's subject matter is just more thought-provoking. That's about it, whilst Drake mostly just raps about partying and women with a few exceptions. But Drake has much better beats, and ultimately the distinctive beats will stand the test of time, look at Still D.R.E. It's likely a song like 10 Bands will still be played in a decade by actual hiphop listeners and not casual hiphop-pop rap listeners because the beat is so good and Drake flowed well on it. Don't get me wrong I don't think Drake is particularly great either, but he is better than Kendrick.
@@thehatersball504 Drake is quantity over quality, no denying that, but he has made more ambitious "hiphop" songs than Kendrick in my opinion in terms of beats and flow. I bring up Drake because, well, he's popular like Kendrick, but there is a good reason for it. Drake is arguably the greatest feature artist of all time and has a good amount of solid hiphop songs in his catalog. Just off the top of my head: 10 Bands, Legend, Chicago Freestyle, Scholarships, Jumpman, Hype and Money in the Grave, I think these songs are future-proof, but yeah, I get it. Drake is nowhere near as good as for example Nas (Illmatic/some of It Was Written), Mobb Deep (Infamous+Hell on Earth), GZA (Liquid Swords), but for this era of hiphop he's made the most memorable shit in his unsurprisingly oversaturated catalog. There are gems in there if you take the time to look. Literally only ASAP Rocky on his first 3 projects has had better beat selection than Drake, and Rocky don't make music anymore like that so Drake is pretty much only competing with himself at this point. The 21 + Metro combo was hot between 2016 - 2018 but I think that one has been casted off as well as Metro's beats aren't as good as they used to be imo.

Atleast Em can rap and has a dope/organic origin story.. he fell off song making wise after MMLP
All time has to be Tupac tbh. He was an ok rapper, but only looked at as one of the best because he died in his prime. Same goes for Biggie
Uh oh

@@thehatersball504 please get tochirta on the channel as guest if possible, thanks, he's got the email in his about section.
When Jay says a Biggie line or verse everyone knows what it is. So it's not hidden.
the two most overhyped, overrated rappers are biggie & kendrick imo... i just dont see what ppl see in them.. thats my honest opinion..
Hello guys just wanted to ask you if you could give me a list of great hip hop artists and their best albums that you personally like.

Little brother - the listening
Sean price - Jesus price superstar
Random axe - Random axe
Blu - below the heavens
Joey bada$$ - 1999
Run the Jewels- RTJ 2 or 3
Mos def - black on both sides
Plenty more we do reviews every week
I watch stuff like this to get other perspectives. I think Kendrick music offers more content than most mainstream artists. Maybe overrated is fair but it feels misapplied in his case. I think DAMN is jammin’ though and a classic.
Than most mainstream artists are the key sentence. Mainstream hip-hop has very little content right now, but that doesn't mean we should give him extra credit for other rappers failings. Thanks for watching, though we appreciate everyone's perspective.
Who's yall Top 10. I really need to know this
Top 5s are here ua-cam.com/video/qKLn8gY3L9M/v-deo.html
Y’all are trolling 🤣
Kendrick is mid 😂😂😂
It's funny cause I actually prefer this album of his to ALL his others. I feel albums like TPAB or GKMC were very overrated and just, not really all that good.
He's more of a hits rapper than anything to me.
GKMC I liked more it was simple yet you got a full story from it and every song sounds good.
Kendrick Llama wants to know your location.
He can find us right here on the channel
He might be overrated by the people who claim he’s the greatest. But to be honest he’s pretty close. Calling him overrated or saying he’s not a true top tier lyricist is blasphemy and just stupid
We are addressing people who call him the greatest or say he's top 5 or top 10 or say he made album of the year and all the other hyperbole that surrounds Kendrick.
If you think he's even close to being one if the greatest then you haven't listened to enough hip-hop. You can't tell me that from the very beginning of hip-hop to now that Kendrick is anywhere close to the greatest. Now that's blasphemous and ignorant
@@mr.rationale8808 Kendrick has dropped two of the greatest albums in hip hop history. The only thing really holding him back from truly being one of the greatest is time
@christianthiessen1504 whoa 2 of the greatest all time is this really how ppl feel? please tell me which 2 albums? and do you mean they are top 10 albums or like top 100 albums?
@@DumbitDwn good kid maad city, and To Pimp a Butterfly. Personally I think TPAB is the best rap album of all time and if you asked most people both of those albums would end up in the their top 25 at least. The storytelling, ability, and Kendricks vocal inflections mixed with the incredible meaning and impact are next level
Facts
saying that kendrick lamar is the most overrated rapper ever has got to be titled just for clickbait 😂😂🤦🏾♂️ OD - DAMN is a better discography than 90% of rappers that have come out in the last 15 years 😂
I'm glad you started at OD and ended on his last good album. I respect that I was a big fan of OD and Section 80 but not so much since then
Hip-hop didn't start 15 yrs ago though. The genre and "culture" is over 50 yrs old
Damn is commercial as hell lol. I like a couple of tracks but to say it’s 90% better than rappers that came out in the last 15 years is a reach.
@@mr.rationale8808 Kendrick got 5/5 albums, an amazing B-sides album and a dope soundtrack under his belt. Stop hating
please baby no more parties in LA
Why do all lupe fans hate kdot
Don't think this is true. A lot of lupe fans are Kendrick fans too
Because Lupe can do the same thing or make albums way more introspective yet get ignored by the people who claim they like what kendrick does.
Don't do Masta Killa like that 😂. Nothing Kendrick has ever wrote is as memorable as his one verse on "The Mystery of Chessboxing"
@@Peacekeepa317real talk Kendrick got bodied by Kodak on Silent Hill it’s an insult to Masta Killa
No that's Eminem actually my guy, Kendrick's last album was a Lil overhyped with no replay value but not as overrated as Eminem's career after Encore
We already talked about Eminem not making good music here
ua-cam.com/video/Bs3lPXtWsU8/v-deo.html
Thanks for the well thought out comment not a huge fan of Drake either but I would agree he has better beats overall than Kendrick
@@user-np3tq4nf1t Trash opinion. Drake doesn't have ONE Sing About Me, DUCKWORTH., FEAR., FEEL., Mother I Sober, Auntie Diaries, How Much A Dollar Cost?, Mortal Man, These Walls. Stop it
@@ArmLegLegArmHead47 Kendrick fans always bring up these mediocre songs and hype them up like they're hiphop royalty. Sorry but Mother I Sober and Aunties Diaries are therapy songs for a niche, not hiphop tracks. Duckworth is decent from what you mentioned and maybe These Walls but that's about it.
bro you speaking bullshit right now😂😂😂😂😂so according to your ears and common sense between Kendrick Lamar and Drake .DRAKE'S THE ONE WHO IS HARDER IN TERSM OF RAP AND DRAKE IS NOT FOR THE CASUAL POP RAP fans my n*gga Drake himself identifies as a popstar bro is prolly the poppiest sing song rapper of ALL TIME no wonder ol'e heads call him a sing rapper my nigga think before you speak Kdot has one of the most impressive catalogs in rap history bro can be gangsta can be a loverboy can be a preacher can be a teacher a politician and a pastor and a sinner

and In terms of flow🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Kendrick's top 5 in terms of flow right now alongside J cole ,JID & denzel curry & Travis SCot boy don't even start with flow
Kdot's flow is objectively better he has at least 6 different deliveries
Kendrick Lamar: Kendrick is renowned for his versatile and intricate flows. He effortlessly switches between different rhythms and rhyme schemes, making his delivery captivating and unpredictable.

Kendrick is the GOAT. y'all know it. This is trolling and fckn stupid😅 and also if he watched this he wouldn't be offended cos he ain't sensitive like Aubrey.
It's not even the "deep"ness that make him special. It's the storytelling, the authenticity, wisdom, emotion, self awareness. There will never be another like him😂
