      She's mentioned before how there's a lot that goes into the camera crew's safety. The camera crew get to meet the family and dog long before Victoria does. When you see Victoria knock on someone's door and meet them, that's legitimately the first time she's meeting them. She knows about their problems and such, but she's only just then meeting them.
      When it comes down to it, everything is about the crew's safety then the dog and keeping it as calm as possible so training can go off without a problem.

      I agree with you both! Lord knows when I became an owner on my own no parent to help, I had to learn all over again! Victoria was a godsend! My grandparents were all born before 1930, dogs for them were just that, protection. But with my persistence and giving my grumpy S.O.B. The same honestly still applies to humans.. people without anxiety still never understand what it's like for someone with anxiety. Most of them just saying things like "Well just get over it then." As if you haven't ever thought of doing that already.
      I have social anxiety in person. Like to the point just going to the grocery store alone is terrifying and mentally exhausting. Going with someone I know though I'm fine. To anyone without anxiety their cluelessness kicks in and they tend to say things like "just get over it then" or "it's not that bad" or other similar ignorant things. Similar how people with dogs that have anxiety will just keep pulling on the leash or force the dog into that situation then wonder why the dog lashes out...

    • @vikingdogmanship
      @vikingdogmanship 4 роки тому +3

      @@Eventide215 you kinda cant compare that. Remeber how did theese dogs got this way. Most dogs are overprotected, picked up and carried away, or dragged in to a situation where their owners do not see what is needed,the dogs feel the anxiety of their owners or the lack of TRUST in owner and it is translated to the dog that feels they must protect or lash out because their owner are not a good teacher/leader. And for someone who used to have social anxiety and has gotten over it, shows it is absolutely possible. I hope you someday will find the strenght and help inside to get past your problems too.

    • @blahblah3072
      @blahblah3072 4 роки тому +6

      Viking Dogmanship theres absolutely no way in hell you could’ve had social anxiety and just “gotten over it”. Beating social anxiety involves years of slowly pushing yourself and working your confidence up. You can not use the words “get over it” “gotten over it” since it involves very hard work and it will be in the back of their mind for many many years. Maybe try saying “I worked for it and my anxiety lessened ”. If you can just snap out of having social anxiety then you did not actually have it. I understand you had a good intention trying to give them hope that you got over yours so they can as well, but to me it came off as trying to explain that her concern that she will never get over it is incorrect because in your one situation you beat yours. Sadly that is not the case for nearly anybody else with social anxiety. Be real with them and explain how you actually beat it and strengthened your brain since it takes very hard work and dedication and will 100% be much worse before it gets better.

      Edit: e collars are electric collars. What are shock collars? How do they shock dogs? Oh yeah with electricity. Most e collars have the option to shock the dog in worse case scenario. And people who train dogs on invisible fences uses a shock collar that is linked with the fence. It vibrates the dog when approaching closely to the boundary and shocks them when they’re too close/past the boundary. Banning “shock” collars isn’t that simple.

The only issue I've had is that he lunges at my sister's Yorkie sometimes and I'm not sure what it is. He's done it 3 times and the first being food aggression so now I'll make sure his food is put away when she comes over. He's usually excited & play bows when she comes over but at some point when we're all just hanging out, he's laying next to me & all of a sudden he lunges at her. She usually avoids him anyways i think cause he's so big and playful (he's 2 & she's 6). The last 2 instances she would be walking around a few feet away from him when he does this. No food, no toys, I'm not showing her more attention than him. I make sure I watch him close since I know he does this and I'd feel terrible if he ever got his mouth around her. He does fine with my brothers shepherd mix and even a stray dog that showed up when I left him in the yard for a bit, even let the smaller dog drink out of his bowl with no aggression. Not sure what it is about my sister's dog that seems to suddenly trigger him after hours of being cool and happy to see her.

    The problem with this dog and his prong collar is the owner didn’t learn how to properly fit and use it. At just about the 3 minute mark you can see how lose this is on the dog’s neck - it could easily be slipped over his head. Prong collars need to be worn tight and high - just behind the ears and jaw. No wonder this dog is scared to go on walks!! Poor thing!!!

    • @seraph11
      @seraph11 4 роки тому +18

      Yup prongs aren’t meant to be worn as necklaces. They don’t have to be really tight, but just fitted right so it doesn’t hang on their necks. I use one on my gsd and he’s really calm and relaxed now. He used to be really bad on walks and around dogs. Now he’s an angel

    My sister got that 'prong' type of collar (the same one) for my big dog Thor, and it works perfectly with him. He doesn't pull anymore and becomes a different dog on walks. That type of collar can work IF you know how to correctly use them.

      Work in home to increase focus and teach a heal. Dogs don't have to be friends with strangers and other dogs but they do need to learn not to react to them. Teaching them to focus on their person rather than focusing on what is going on elsewhere helps with that.
