Difference between Plinth beam and Tie beam

Basically, we use different types of the beam in the building structures. Each beam has its own function. The key difference of the plinth beam and tie beam was discussed in this lecture. This is one of the important and mostly asked interview questions.

(a) to avoid crack
(b) to reduce differential settlement
(c) to provide brick wall
(d) to provide dpc.

Tie beam level can be below plinth Beam level also if the difference between footing top to plinth Beam bottom is very large in case mass excavation is carried out.
It's main purpose is to limit slenderness of column.
