I've really enjoyed the Mini episodes, Hope it wasn't too hard on you. Watching you make this boat has been a complete joy, I can't wait to see it on the water.
Ha- watching the video I was thinking that the spacing on the side rails looked a bit long. I think it’s smart to add a center support. It’s too handy a place not to use to tie up to or use for things other than just a handrail. I do like the concept!
That apple didn’t fall far from the tree now did it? What a pleasant surprise your son bring over a build of his own! Very nice! (Well done on the hand rails too! )
Handrails came out awesome! Also I don’t see that raised round block for the tiller keeping much water out lol. Your kids added at the end was cool, you should plan something small they can help with before it’s done so they can point to it in the future and say “I did that”
That raised disk will have a HDP slippery disk on top of it, then a flange on that which is attached to a 1" SS tube. It's all close fitting and greased up in the end. Hard to describe in text but it should be watertight.
Congrats, captain! And thanks for sharing your progress! It's exciting to see how nicely you deal with every item of your project. I am learning a lot from you, Quenet and Yrvind! I can't hardly wait to see your boats on the water.
Just found your chann last week and have been bing watching. I am currently building a SCAMP. I See you use a lot chip brushes. A trick I learned for them and epoxy is to cut the bristles to about half their length. Makes them stiffer for spreading the epoxy.
Great kids 👍treasure them, they grow up so quickly. Thanks for beings a supportive Dad, we need more of those in the world 👍and congrats on getting to 9K 🎉 Almost reached your goal
Yes! I might convince them to go on some local sails and sleep on the boat, and little day sails. We'll see. My daughter's more into the sailing than my son.
It's obvious to me you are a better boat builder than I, I've never built one. But If it were me,I would add some sort of mechanical fastener to the handrail supports. Maybe a lag bolt from underneath. If my life were on the line I would feel better with mechanical support along with chemical adhesion as double insurance. But that's just an opinion.
Initially I thought I would, but with so many bases attached with fiberglass and thickened epoxy it just has such a strong attachment to the boat. Much stronger than my grip is, I'm sure.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the paint go on, it will make such a difference. Will the carbon fibre get painted or will you leave it on display?
I went back to Episode 35 to remind myself about the internal steering. One thing that struck me that I didn't think about the first time I watched the Episode is that the hatch is really tight. You were just squeezing through wearing a T-shirt, what will happen when you are wearing your wet/cold weather gear or if the worst happens and you have to get out while wearing a survival suit and life jacket?
hi. grate work.thanks for your content of boat building. if i use leebord on my boat do i need stil add keel or some sort of ballast to my boat or no need? best regard
I'd just look at lee-board design sailboats out there. They don't usually have a keel, but they likely have ballast secured in the bottom of the hull, and I imagine many have lead in the bottom of their lee-boards but I'm admittedly no expert in the subject.
Hello . I am your new subscriber. I like what you do. I would like to ask, what material is the hull of your yacht made of? Looks like foam. But I don’t understand the exact name of the sheet material that you use to build the hull of the yacht. Please write what kind of plastic this is.
You can be on deck when it's nice with this boat, but on long distance sails one is typically spending more time out of the elements in the cabin. I can only roast in the sun for so long. I'm building this for long passages.

Thanks, it was a good experiment

Thanks, he likes to come down and use my glue gun.
Your kids are adorable
Thanks 😊
Hallo from South Africa. Like the mini episodes. Boat is getting nicer by the day.
Hallo! Let's have a beer when I get there 👍.
@@ocean_capable_small_sailboat That is a briljant idea.

The house really great! Ken from across the pond
Nice work!
G'day, just dropped in to leave a friendly comment. I'm really enjoying your channel, keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!

Thank you. I have learned a lot from Yann and Yrvind, I watch them carefully.
Suffisamment solide pour lever avec, le bateau terminé 😯👍bravo.
Merci!
Awesome house!
Thank you I'll tell him you said so!

Thanks, I do that too after someone made the same recommendation in the comments a while back.
looking great , thanks
Thank you too!

Awesome words! Thank you. 👍
Great job, thanks for the February dailies. I like them a lot.
Awesome, thank you!
I really enjoy your mini episodes, great fun to follow!
Glad to hear it!
👍👍👍
👍
Hi! Enjoyed the mini episodes! Handrails look great too. Dave from Canada.
Thanks 👍
Looks great!
Thanks!
I love that your kids are part of the building experience. Is the boat big enough for you to take them sailing with you on day trips?😊
Yes! I might convince them to go on some local sails and sleep on the boat, and little day sails. We'll see. My daughter's more into the sailing than my son.
Good to hear. I’m in my 60s. We have a Westsail 32. Only one of my three kids really enjoys sailing and I’m happy about that.
Ah, that's great. I listen religiously to the podcast "Sailing into Oblivion," you may already know it well. He sailed his WS32 around the world.
Your son's haunted house looks like it's straight from one of the "Hello Neighbor" games. Looks like your engineering skills go down the line.
Thanks, I encourage him to be an Engineer one day. I took an easier route and just studied business.
👍👍😎👍👍

It will all get painted for UV protection and a cleaner look.

what resin do you use?

Thanks for subscribing. It's 10mm PVC structural foam. It is sandwiched between layers of fiberglass.
@@ocean_capable_small_sailboat Thank you!

Thanks for rushing over!
all your base are belong to us
haha I know that reference. 😂
not to piss on youre parade, Why do you want to sit indside. instead of on the deck. you still want to see the world?
