First mistake don't move to any major city.Find a small town in a rural area. And you'll be very happy I am
Asheville is hurting because it has become San Francisco East! The city is going down hill fast. We have had several friends leave Asheville after only being there for one year. They left due to the crime and people camping on the streets, in the Parks, etc. There is a Large Homeless population there as well now. Not very safe to go out especially after dark.
The Left destroys everything it touches.
Asheville is my home town. After college, I moved to Florida to work in the defense industry, and couldn't wait to get back to the mountains. I moved back, but over the years the southern charm of this once great small town is pretty well gone. Home prices are high, homelessness, traffic, and trash are excessive. City and county government has been taken over by the woke crowd, police have been defunded, and crime is rampant. If you visit, do not take your family downtown after dark. We now go into the city only when absolutely necessary (jury duty, concealed carry permit, etc.).
I heard that in Asheville in the middle of the night, someone or a bunch of people rather, ran up the streets breaking the windows in people's car windows! But no one seemed to know anything of who they were or why? What happened to any security cameras? Very strange times we now live
blax have a no snitch rule
I have been living in NC my whole life and I want out, house pricing keeps going up and it's getting pretty crowded not only that but it's losing its rural feeling and they are tearing down ALOT of trees and rural areas, and turning them into apartments some areas are nicer than others, and many cities such as Cary are really nice for living but only if you can afford it.
If you left, where would you move to?
Housing prices are going up EVERYWHERE. Soon there will be nowhere to go.
lol and where are you going to move because I lived in NY, CA and FL and everyone in those places are moving to NC.
@@scottaleman2577 I was thinking about Upstate Ny , the people that are moving from NY is mostly from NYC but Upstate is beautiful if you like the rural scene, I wouldnt live in CA even if you pay me and FL is even more expensive than NC, But I have found some really nice homes in upstate NY in a decent price, many people are scared of the snow up there but I love the cold, way better than having hurricanes and tornadoes every year like NC, I am still searching but we are in the worst time to purchase a home , I might as well keep on saving till I find the right place and moment to purchase one.
Save the trees!!!
This video made me miss my hometown Nashville Tennessee. Asheville is very liberal and they are starting to feel the effects of that.
Right, those gun loving liberal snowflakes are driving up crime there.
Liberals destroy everything they touch.
Liberals ruin everything they touch
Asheville turned deep blue and became a dump.
I was in NC last year scouting for new city to call home. We spent whole day in greensboro and Burlington. greensboro is a great location. little over an hour away from Raleigh and little over an hour away from Charlotte. It has many nice places but too many shady people roaming around. Greensboro has better home prices than the triangle area and I agree with you it will appreciate more. Also visited Charlotte and we spent a week there. Great city, beautiful downtown but we found it little noisy for our taste , the car mufflers and road speed bumps everywhere. Tringle area is the best, my opinion. Also we have been in Greensville, SC. Great city a must see.
Thanks for that perspective!! I’m partial to the triangle as well. But Greensboro and Charlotte and Winston Salem all have their own beauty!
Asheville, what are you doing. Astraea is a nice town I didn't know if that bad.
Stay out of Durham.
@@jarvisstradford7211 Asheville is full of liberals.
Greenville is NOT in the mountains like Asheville. It is much hotter in the Summer. Two very different worlds.
Great video. I appreciate your work and insights.
Lived in Charlotte area a few years ago, went back north, not out side Raleigh. My home in Jersey was great, property taxes, $25,000. My home outside Raleigh, just as nice, smaller, way more land. Taxes $5,000. Each area has good and bad. I’ll stay in NC. I’ve lived in NY, NJ, PA, WV, NC….WV and NC are my preferred. Although the Pittsburgh area was pretty decent.
Charlotte is not the only area in NC with mass transit.
Great use of data, really impressive!
First video I’ve watched. Great job!
You forgot to mention when talking about Charlotte pro sports teams-Charlotte Checkers. AHL hockey, farm team for Florida Panthers.
Nvidia’s chip manufacturer Wolfspeed is setting up factory too
Respect to everything you're doing. But at the end of the day when will disable people get the chane to live meaning people who have health issues this and that
It’s so hard to find affordable housing right now. I would definitely check out some of the cheaper cities like Greensboro and Winston Salem. Great quality of life but they don’t have the tech and banking influence of the larger cities so it’s less expensive.
The question is does transplanting South from the North and West contribute to lack of opportunities and poverty for descendants and natives of the American South? Does it reduce housing and job opportunities for the natives and descendants of the South ? Possibly Charlotte and Greensboro is turning to the places people have left. Eventually over population causes harm. Citizens are exiting Charlotte in 2024, but not long ago in the early 1990’s Charlotte Mecklenburg was a great place with small class room sizes, affordable homes with land, and less crime. Crime in Charlotte is historic. So now people are moving to South Carolina. 🤔 We are making a mistake of confusing moving with progress.
Michigan is nice.
Is that guy, dressed in an orange robe, a Hari Krishna holdover?!
I don’t like when people use the word “slow”. Greensboro is nice and has grown a lot. Gibsonville has one of the Best gyms on the 🌏. Charlotte is a bit more built up.
What adjective other than slow would you use?

I don't hear you talking about walkability ànd good transportation system. I do not own a car.
Debating should I move back to my hometown Greensboro.
Hello Hellen, we are planning to move to NC by July 2024, we need to rent or by a place, in a good area, can you be of help?
When wealthy young professionals arrive and inflate housing prices and cost of living, the working, and middle classes leave. The average family income in America is about $70,000. There is a huge gap between the rich, the middle classes, and the poor. Homelessness and crime increases when real estate becomes unaffordable for most. Thanks for the helpful information on Ashville and other cities.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thats whats happened to Ocean Isle, Sunset Beach, Myrtle, Wilmington...jobs, pay, most cant no longer afford to live there, because the east has swamped it, raised prices, housing, owning and renting to non affordable..on $7.25 one cant afford a$1600 to $2800 rent in area..the surge has made established patients unable to get their care..salaries have not increased..and the east surge all want what they left and believe it take to social media to complain...its we dont have a wa wa..well wawawa...and we dont have a this, that. Blah blah..there not happy...complaining about everything..drive crazy, horn blowing drive like bat outa hell.
The biggest concern I have with Greensboro is that while it does have those amenities, a good chunk of the city has been left behind, except for Downtown and the Northwest quadrant of the city (basically from downtown up towards Summerfield). Downtown has been propped up by the public sector. NW Greensboro has gotten most of the private sector attention (the high-end retail, housing, etc.). The problem is that large chunks of Northeast, Southeast, and Southwest Greensboro have declined over the years, in everything from quality shopping (i.e. quality retail and grocers turning into places like check cashing and pawn shops) to seeing more violence, poverty, and overall despair. Those areas need quite a bit more attention, not just roughly 30% of the city.
But anyhow, I enjoy your videos. They are interesting and you obviously do your homework and put a lot of thought into them so you're not wrong. I am just putting that perspective out there.
Yeah I know what you mean!! I think this has been the same case in Raleigh as well but it’s really gotten better over the years. It just takes time and money. And people investing in the area need to feel like there will be a return on the investment. I know that in Greensboro there is a mega site on the southeast side where the new Toyota battery plant is going. Bringing in businesses with higher salaries really helps jumpstart growth.
@@EllenPitts Agreed- thank you !
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoy the videos!
Charlotte is not fun
This is a realtor talking her book. It's always "glass half full" with these people. She'll probably shoe horn unsuspecting people into adjustable rate loans and when the rates "adjust" and the owners are kicked out, she'll gladly swoop in and make more $$$.
I live halfway between Asheville and Greenville. Both towns are an excellent destination for good food and a bit of culture. But I live in a quaint cute little mountain town that is beginning to see a surge in migrants from Florida.
BS
Hogwash. Raleigh real estate is a shit show. Apple pulled out last month and builders are "hiding" their over-stock inventory. It's a matter of time before prices crash. Today I toured a $215,000 home now asking over a mil. that's in a 20 year span. doesn't matter, few buyers will qualify.
Properties over a million are still getting multiple offers. You’d be shocked at what we see from this end. Also still a ton of cash buyers out there. Raleigh is not the “affordable” city it used to be. There are a lot of high paying jobs here now and it’s also a great place to retire. There is a solid base of people who CAN afford those houses. That’s the reality.
I am considering moving to North Carolina, your videos are very well thought out, easy to understand, many helpful facts and tips. Thank you!
