I feel sad knowing that the season opened with Izzy dying in Stede's dream, and then he dies, and Stede is mourning him 😢 with everyone else. So much development in only 8 episodes!

What are some losers saying? I thought this season was cute. I was surprised because I heard it was supposed to be dark this season but it was so wholesome lol
@@Lunakitty1234 a lot of people are giving David Jankins the creator shit on Twitter so much that he had to mute replies, some people think it’s too rushed but it’s really not his fault he only got renewed for eight episodes this season.
@@crowsdontcry8258 well that’s not fair . I mean isn’t there a strike still going on? Maybe because of that, they had less time and money to work with . They did the best they could with what they had, made something beautiful and people should just be grateful.
@@Lunakitty1234it's actually HBO's fault, they cut the budget, that's why we had less episodes. David mentioned "we had an hour long episodes in a 30 minutes budget". And people giving David shit are mostly Izzy stans who (most of them) are even wishing for the show to not get renewed:(

I’m imagining Ed getting REAL overconfident in his skills to fix the shack (because he fixed a door one time) and, whilst showing off to Stede, makes the whole thing fall down.

At least it ended with a scene that works as an overall ending, and not a cliffhanger.

Oh I am so happy for Pete and Lucius but kinda sad that Stede and Ed won't be with their family anymore.

As confirmed by David Jenkins on Paste (interview), I can't put a link but I'll copy paste it, then feel free to search it yourself:
Paste: OFMD doesn’t have a third season pick-up yet, so it’s a difficult feat for writers to thread the needle in a finale that gives audiences closure but also leaves enough story to continue.
Jenkins: I don’t think it was a very hard thing to do. I think it was more that I felt a responsibility to leave Ed and Stede in a good place, at least for now. It’s not gonna go well. They’re not going to run a business well. Ed’s too much of a talker. Stede can’t focus. It’s gonna be challenging.

I’ve watched this ending a ton of times and each time I glom on to a different line or 2. This time around it was Zheng’s “we could kick a lotta ass” and Auntie’s “take the compliment”. All of the ladies added in season 2 were spectacular!
I love fang tearing up at the wedding. The swede seems happy, im glad, it felt wrong that they pretty much sold him to jackie.

This is such a small detail but no one is talking about it. I know that the whole season but the finale specifically was super rushed and when the wedding scene came up I was still angry and sad because how could I be happy that my babies are getting married when Izzy just died but I love fang’s reference to Izzy in the wedding. You can tell that he’s almost crying and is still very sad about Izzy and it made me feel a little less weird about having such a happy wedding immediately after such a sad loss. RIP IZZY ❤ and congratulations Pete and Lucius ❤ (yes I know that this is all technically fictional but it’s all so real for me)

I still feel like they're going to turn into Anne and Mary. Both couples live in the middle of nowhere, running a business that no one's going to come to anytime soon, and they're both kind of unstable.
So Buttons really did turn into a bird 😆 i was thinking maybe someone kidnapped him or something but he was never mentioned again. Then seeing the seagull at the end was confirming it 😂

I don't understand why Stede and Ed couldn't join the Revenge when they took off. Stede has the respect of everyone, even Zheng and Auntie. He was their captain. The ending feels really off to me. I do still want the show to be picked up again. I have enjoyed it alot. Just the ending is weird to me
i think thats the opening left for s3!! it would explore their attempts at innkeeping and (probably) eventual return to piracy. god forbid it doesnt get picked up, they would have somewhat of a cemented ending
Well to be fair, since season one they had thought about opening an Inn, so had the option of retirement had been brought up. The events of Ed going off on his own and Stede becoming more popular was intended to explore those possibilities if they had truly gone the way both had wanted in the beginning, and finding that although at first it seemed nice it wasn't something they wanted deep down. Highlighting their shifting and development of personal goals which I think a lot correlates to real life, because when we finally get what we want we realize it could be different and there are other things now that could be more meaningful since we've changed as people, or the thing we've tried hadn't worked out. I think Stede also realized how being a pirate wasn't totally his thing. Just like how that one prince (forgot his name) character had acted as a foil for him, before he thought of piracy as more of a fantasy, like a white lady in Hawaii, and didn't realize the struggle of it with those fighting for their lives. He lacked the necessary fighting skills and street smarts for it as shown time and time again, but his out of the box thinking and solutions made up for it. Internally they both wanted to be accepted for who each other were, and they found that in an ending that compromised both of what they wanted that hadn't been out of the blue. Although they did still love the crew along with respect for the pirate queen and it's really sad for them to depart eachother, it makes sense. All of the crew had gotten what they wanted, and if there's a next season we might see them reunite again.

It's simple. Ed didn't want to be a pirate anymore. He wanted to avoid danger and life and death situations. He was sick of it. So he stayed. And Stede stayed because he wanted to stay by his side.

The ending felt a bit off
edit: just because i have a different opinion doesn't mean I harass show creator.
From my understanding, they had less episodes to work with than the first season, so they had to compress things a bit more.
I feel the ending would've felt more deserved if they released the episodes one by one.
I felt like Ed didn't have enough time to sit with his emotions, and we didn't really get to see how Stede retracted again from the fame and glory of being a cold-blooded killer. At least one episode more would have fixed the pacing. But hearing that they were quite limited in what they could do, they did a good job.
