    Putting a Vmount on this camera blocks the rear screen and function of the camera. This is what I hate most about the pockets. No matter how you do it, it is just an awkward setup. Totally agree about the battery issue. They need to incorporate a bigger battery solution into the camera body design or make it adaptable in a way that does not get in the way of functionality.

    They really fucked up, this had so much potential but its the laziest "new" camera ive seen. If they redesigned everything then why the hell is so much missing or compromised again? Feels bad man

    Blackmagic rates dynamic range different to others, red lists total possible stops but blackmagic lists total low noise stops. In reality the camera has around 15 stops or even more

    • @threefoldtv
      @threefoldtv  Рік тому +1

      Having shot with a RED that has "16" stops of dynamic range side by side with a pocket. RED is very generous with the amount of total stops their cameras have.

    I was super excited about this camera after hearing rumors floating around. Full frame? L mount? Amazing! As an owner of the OG BMPCC6K, I was hoping this was the update I was looking for. Unfortunately, it's just the same camera with a bigger sensor. I picked up the Lumix S5IIX instead. Full frame, L mount, 6K open gate, all of those same features + great auto focus + incredible IBIS + a more manageable body style. Hopefully the MKII/Pro version of this brings back the built in NDs. That might make it worth it.

      @8lec_R Рік тому +1

      I think it's either the olpf or the internal ND. Personally much prefer the olpf cuz otherwise there's no way to add one, but you can add external ND

  • @jayclas4023
    @jayclas4023 Рік тому +1

    The NDs aren’t gone. We got one model with NDs that’s still available. They even released a G2 6k with no NDs. Anothe model may come out later but way too many people are complaining about ND filters but other companies have way more camera bodies that do not have NDs.
    It’s ridiculous how many people complain.

    Being stuck with "only" raw recording is bizare! Why remove ProRes and why not have a 10bit LonGOP codec file for long shots like interviews or live events like music concerts or other stage events? Seriously? You couldn't put a quality 10bit Long GOP codec? Why the Hell not? (let me guess,..the L-Mount Aliance said "no"....)

      We are used to working with cameras that have bad battery life both with RED and the URSA cameras... the difference is they are using reliable v-mount batterys. Cinema cameras are professional tools and should be using reliable batteries and not cheap unreliable NP 550 batteries. We have no problem with bad battery life but we do have a problem when cameras shut off without any warning because they are using unreliable cheap battery systems.

      @@threefoldtv this camera is at least 5 times cheaper than those professional cameras and makes almost as good image (with the right settup, lighting and lenses) if you can add extra sources of energy than I don't think is fair to complain about it.

    Yeah, I'm gonna wait to see what else hits the market from other manufacturers. The oversized DSLR body, lack of SDI, the annoying ports being on the side of the camera versus being right angled, along the the side of the body... it's just not for a current Pocket 6K owner. Great for the mirrorless mount, decreasing that flange distance, but it's pretty mid. The open gate, full frame (eh), and type B cards are awesome tho. Just not enough for me.

  • @Holtenstein
    @Holtenstein Рік тому +3

    The Cinema 6k seems like a great option. Though I wish it had SDI. Also, I have to pick up the new Micro camera for the studio. I may just have to switch to an iPhone just to shoot in Blackmagic and have it uploaded to the cloud and into Davinci.

  • @JulioBHJ

    The form factor is -- once again -- what makes me not be interested in this camera, however well the sensor might perform. I don't want this big clunky lopsided thing, no thanks. 😄 In an URSA style body, yeah maybe. But this DSLR style shape is not for me.

  • @pizzomedia7261
    @pizzomedia7261 Рік тому

    Terrible update. The L mount full frame is great, BUT no internal nds, same clunky dslr body. Why on earth does bmd think a dslr body is good for a cinema camera. The monitor placement and design is terrible when rigged with a battery. It blocks the view, ergonomics are terrible. Totally not worth it.

    From my understanding, they kept the same body because the pocket pro owners have invested heavily on accessories. So, instead of spending more money buying accessories for a new body style, they decided to keep the same body style. Which makes perfect sense to me. I've kitted out my 6K Pro body and now I don't have to spend any money buying anything, except lense adaptor which is just $30.

    • @Breonnick
      @Breonnick Рік тому

      As a Pocket user I would of embraced the change. Like why not change the body? It's already no longer a "Pocket camera" Just change the brand already. Once they change the body they can change the horridy battery.

      We absolutely love it! While there is lots we would love to see different in the overall design and ergonomics of their cameras the image quality, OS, and BRAW is what makes us stay with BM. The workflow of BRAW with resolve is so incredibly fast and flexible nothing even comes close to it. The BRAW codec is so flexible in post and we've come to love the constant quality specifically Q5 when it comes to talking head interviews as its is a MASSIVE data saver without sacrificing overall quality. Again Blackmagic isn't perfect but if you are doing shooting and the editing we 100% recommend it as its is so seamless.

    I haven't checked, but there are probably already adapters available for e.g. L -> EF or L -> PL that have ND built in (or there will be soon). So you can have the flexibility of different lenses with built-in ND and OLPF + Full frame open gate RAW... for $2500. If I was told this shit when I was starting out my career 10 years ago I would've burst out laughing.

    • @EmeraldAudiovisual
      @EmeraldAudiovisual Рік тому

      There are PL to L adapters, that have in-line filters, yes. Namely the Mofage Poco adapter, which uses it's own proprietary filters and the Meike PL to L-mount Cine filter adapter, which uses Canon/Meike/Kolari/Breakthrough style filters. There are no EF to L-mount filter adapters, but I know that Meike is working on one.

    • @JulioBHJ

      No, a "global shutter" sensor is the one that eliminates all those jerky artifacts. A larger sensor typically intensifies the issues of a rolling shutter.
