My left ear enjoyed this
😂 same
@@neilfullframe Same but I'm not laughing.
Glad that I am not the only one who enjoyed it. 🤣
@@kurtnelle you better start
Thanks for the video. Audio is only on the left. There is also a great voice isolation tool in davinci resolve
the screen is on the left as well, lol
It fine like that
3:47 19mm for the EVF is industry standard. Every pro camera uses a 19mm rod there. It’s necessary, it holds the weight of the EVF much better and doesn’t slip. It’s just like how on pro sets we use 19mm rods for focus motors to prevent slippage on stiff lenses. I’m a 1st AC and 19mm rods are the game changer, been doing it for years. Trust me it’s a necessary and good decision they didn’t go 15mm rod there
you guys gotta start using headphones when editing...
One interesting observation - the camera had a 42mm Mercury Series 1.5x Full-Frame Anamorphic lens mounted on it. Another statement from BM that support Anamorphic right out of the box.
Every time everyone gets hyped for the new Blackmagic stuff, I always go "Meh..." 😄
I understand the commotion this camera is causing due to its from factor and the full frame sensor. But, I'm sorry if people were not happy with previous BMD cameras it wasn't due to the manufacturer's fault. If people were NOT able to use, e.g., the BMD Pocket line of cameras, rigging them properly, it was due to the users inability to do so or their lack of knowledge on the matter. That is most of the complainants have been UA-camr, influencers, and NOT professional cinematographers. Sorry, but that's true. I NEVER had a problem rigging the BMD Pocket line cameras on stabilizers and /or gimbals or getting the full 12/13 stops of dynamic range. That being said, I will wait for this camera to be properly tested before I cheer up. I still use my BMD Pocket cameras, and I even get better image quality and larger frames using the much smaller sensor of the Pocket 4K. with focal reducers. Let alone talking about why people complain about the Ursa line ? Why? Because it does not adapt to a small gimbal or some similar type of NONSENSE! HA!
Backlit buttons would be welcome on Pyxis as they are on the Ursa Cine 12K.
Just 1 XLR input? What if I need two channels?
somebody please, In honnor of comander Pyxis, put a Attack on titan sticker on this.
They could have the screen be movable like pocket 6 pro that would be a nail on the coffin.
Can you ask if this will work with ATEM camera control?
On B&H someone asked "Are the lens mounts interchangeable like the Ursa" A Blackmagic representative answered "The mounts are not interchangeable"
yeah they have to say that because with an active mounts there would be ribbon or breakout cables that are not "user replaceable" but technically could be done. For Blackmagic to say it's user changeable it would probably need pogo pins and the camera not fully exposed with that front plate removed.
Would be seriously underwhelming if the lens mounts wouln't be interchangeable considering its design. Let's wait and see!
@@twowheelslife5611 The Pockets weren't interchangeable, so I would say they don't want these competing too much against the Pockets and the URSA's.
Can you confirm that the 3.5mm mic jack is stereo or mono? The BM spec sheet doesn’t specify.
I'm curious if this can run smoothly on a rs4p with some cn-e glass
Yeah, yeah.....I couldn't hear you right.
Great channel and truly enjoy your content. I was under the impression that you could swap between L, PL and EF Lock mounts. Please ask someone if it’s possible. If so that would solve 1 of my biggest gripes about the camera being that a 3rd party could make an ND mount for it like you started.
Does it make sense to get L mount if there isn’t modularity, so then there would be flexibility for adapters. L-EF/PL?
@@itsaaronmillerif you want maximum flexibility then L mount makes the most sense. There are already PL rear ND adapter options available. The same may be available for EF mount too but I haven’t owned anything from Canon in 15 years.
When you look at it again would you ask about the SDI out options. Looking for 4:2:2 10 bit clean out.
That thing js super ugly odd shaped leaving no room for customization out of the box. Hopefully someone makes a cage to make this body more attractive it looks mad front heavy!
It has more way more mounting points then the Pocket line and inter changeable plates. Plus your not compromising the form factor if you decide to slap a Vmount on it.
Is PYXIS an acronym? If so, for what?
But can you turn the screen off?
I can enjoy with the half left
What this director monitor with so thin edges ?
4:30 it is what you are looking for
Do you know if the BM Camera App works with the new BM Pixys camera?! If it does it would be awesome!
Amazes me that BMD has these feature sets at this price point …good job on the video
Does it come with global shutter ? that would be a game changer for me.
At it's price point? Fat chance.
thanks for sharing BUT what about a video for the Ursa Cine 12k Full Frame?
Coming soon!
In the Black Magic Design
There are a lot of new products, so I'm interested in them
As a URSA MINI PRO BMPCC 6K user, I'm particularly interested in PYXIS
It was so nice to be able to see it through the video Thank you :)
Audio only on the left, please reupload. Thanks
It’s better like that
Portkeys monitors have BM 'Camera Control'... should probably work with this as it has Bluetooth that the Micro Studio lacks. Don't think anyone has asked yet.
Nice! Will be possible to buy just mount and exchange them?
BM has staid no, but even if if BM doesn't sell them separately I wouldn't be surprised if a 3rd party makes different mount options. From the outside it looks as though it should be able to be removed (which would make sense from a production standpoint with having 3 different mount options.)
As soon as we get ours we will be seeing how difficult it is to remove the front mount and report back.
@@threefoldtv Thank you!
Watched the first 30 seconds of this wondering why there was no audio (except for the channel logo)… then saw the comments and realized it was because I had only my right side earbud in 😂😂😂
Did they say if it offers the same gyroscope stabilization that the pockets and 6KFF have?
So does that mean you can use the Front USBC port to plug in a external monitor?
The sensor marker has forever been on the pocket line up, just hidden by any cages you’d put on! Top right side, above the fan. 2:20
Just checked on my P6k, doesn't have one.
@@SolidBlueBlocks wth? It’s here on my Pocket 6k pro
Yeah you’re right, it’s on my pocket 4K
its NOT a removable mount!
They haven't technically said it's "not removable" theyve just said "buy the one with the mount you need". If blackmagic doesn't make separate mounts for it there's always a chance that a 3rd party will.
@@threefoldtv ua-cam.com/video/jL7xGYeIbS0/v-deo.html @3:34 I wouldnt have said it if it wasnt true!
Oh that's cool it has 2 usb-c so we can use the evf and SSDs
Any way to lock the side screen to prevent accidental presses and formats? 😬
Yeah it has a lock switch
What is the size compared to a Komodo?? I can’t wait for reviews 😂. Any ideas???
It's definitely quite a bit bigger than the komodo.
It looks good but cant use a camera that doenst shoot standard codecs. Need to hand clients footage on the day and they want regular HD video.
Understandable. However for that use case you could attach a video assist and set the sdi to clean feed to record prores.
You can actually Record H.264 proxies at the same time with Braw.
how is the viewfinder????
Beware of putting your eye on a publicly accessible viewfinder. Eye infections! Mucho thanks for the NAB coverage.
Thank you
Is there a protocol to follow of not frying the SDI port?
Yes. Sdi last when you build up your rig . Gave power to everything and THAN SDI. And SDI first to pull out when powering down the rig.
@@poti732 Thank you, this will be very helpful.
Interesting, are you gay and into squarespace though?
Why is the screen on the side or doesn't flips ? The high end new bm cam have a flip screen.......
Because a Box camera. Box designs are always designed with screen that are just there to see the menus and be dog shit to actually use. If it even has a screen at all. Even the Red kamodo is like that. No one uses that smol ass screen to film with on the red kamodo.
A side screen ? 😂😂👎
So side handle is not possible.
I prefer the og body type.
To bulky, no v mount, same dc in. How utterly dumb.
Only because people cried for box?
When I saw the drop I was in utter shock as I just upgraded from my 6k pro to the Komodo x. But really, would not swap my 6 k pro pocket for that as a back up camera if somebody would offer me a free exchange
Dude Strapping a Vmount adapter to this thing is gonna be so easy because it's a Boxformat. Hate how if you added a Vmount to the Pocket cameras it would comprimise the entire form factor. And you know damn well the People who make Rigging items will find a way to add two side handles to this thing. Likely to connect to the top or bottom of the camera.
@@Breonnick better not put a side handle on the most common site for side handles : the only lcd screen 😂
You would justify everything for no reason.
This is not a pocket camera - this is a box camera. No v mount is simply idiotic.
I have a mount on the back of my 6k pro
Pocket over rods btw .. better balanced than this thing will be for sure
Lousy rolling shutter, lousy dynamic range, and terrible in low light… Who would buy this piece of crap. Yes it has a beautiful body… Beautiful on the outside crappy on the inside. Image quality the FX 3 (which doesn’t have any of these limitations) will blow this box camera away.
Fx 3 doesnt have internal Raw and it auto denoises your images wich is a bad thing. Pyxis is basically the 6k full frame in a new box design that people begged for. The image quality is absolutely insane with the full frame camera with a great workflow for color grading. Plus Blackmagic design is the only company that Markets USABLE DYNAMIC RANGE not Inflate the dynamic range like sony does. Sony Claims the FX 3 has 15+ stops of Dynamic range when it actually only has 11-12 usable stops of Dynamic range.
