We all love musical theatre, but Broadway isn't exactly banging down our doors. So we've created a cabaret show to celebrate what we love about it all in our own unique way. Especially here 3:00, every time watching this I'm amazed by how his voice at this moment is almost broken at the beginning of "breath" and then, out of the blue, it grows into "fully developed"* and clean one!

P.S. In AVPSY (Potter senior year) he fascinates me when he sings "but I love, I love, I loooooove being at your side" (in "Sidekick"). The same amazement about a sudden strengthening of the voice after it sounded almost exhausted already.
@@KatereenArt i was really impressed with sidekick too, though, because he was obviously really out of breath but he still gave it his all and you can just *feel* ron's determination to save hermione and be the boyfriend she deserves. it was still kinda weird though because while he had the option to tell hermione about the kiss on the cheek, he didn't even do anything else wrong lol.
I love that Jekyll is actually trying to take it seriously? Like, Jekyll's legit having a crisis of conscience and locked in a desperate battle for self control, but Hyde's acting like a 40-year-old drag queen possessing the body of a toddler.

the very, very best thing about this is how wonderful and layered his Jekyll is because it makes his Hyde so much more ridiculous by comparison I could not stop laughing

@@morganzola When the digital ticket for this was up on Gumdrop (it may still be), the majority of the show was the side medium close up, so footage of Joey's Hyde in CU does exist.
This really shows off Joey’s range- not only vocally, but also as an actor. He’s able to go from pulling at your heartstrings to making you laugh hysterically in 0.5 seconds. Incredible voice, too. He absolutely SHINES here! 👏👏👏

I love how this points out that Jekyll and Hyde is inherently kind of ridiculous in that the lead is constantly switching between two characters in the same scene.
actualy it is not, only if the actor fucks it up, thats why they called it shitty broadway, to show brillantly how to not do it. With the right actor it is one of the most powerful scenes ever . . . The funny thing is, Joey never slips up, he executes it perfectly but still at the same time makes fun of how it does not work while it totaly works out perfectly ^^
@@SingingSealRiana three years late but oh well lol. yeah, I meant how it's ridiculous conceptually. a good execution can save *most* concepts, and Jekyll & Hyde isn't really the most out there thing ever or anything. And yeah I agree, that's exactly why this works, Hyde would not be nearly as funny if Joey didn't perform Jekyll's parts so sincerely. Until the "god damn you Hyde" at the end there's no sense of Joey playing Jekyll as a joke on purpose, and honestly I think that works anyway

I think the reason that this is so funny is the contrast. For example, when he says “Do you really think I would ever set you fwee?” It’s funny because the line itself would be haunting, but that damn voice surprises you, and contrast between serious and ridiculous makes Hyde even more hilarious.

Ok but imagine this is Wiley when he is first sent into the black and white as hes trying to fight wiggly’s control. like, could you imagine just seeing him on the stage fighting for his own sanity, like it would be such a parallel to the end of tgwdlm when paul is doing the same but with the infection and AAAHGGG its such a cool concept to me. also unrelated but joeys voice in this just shows so much growth and just how incredible he is GOD
