- How To Play "DON'T LET IT BRING YOU DOWN" By Neil Young | Acoustic Guitar Tutorial On A CG Winner W777
Live at the BBC version.
Neil was only 24.when he wrote this brilliant tune with its deep lyrics.
Tuning: Double Drop Standard Tuning (CGCFAC)
Chord diagrams are included.
Extra feature: alternative chords.
The acoustic guitar used to showcase this masterpiece is a Japanese Martin D45 copy, that has been modded to sound a little bit like Neils Martin.
Mods:
* Bone nut with custom nut spacing
* Glued in bone saddle (with correct spacing)
* Unslotted bone bridge pins
* New, reliced Grover tuners
* Replaced pickguard
* Shaved X braces
* Shaved back braces
* Enlarged soundhole
i just watched the BBC performance. im not sure what all those chords you have before the D-C-D-F intro are in relation to.
ua-cam.com/video/_uDZzWhyJhY/v-deo.htmlsi=kOFRzaT2JmNMdfs8 | apparently i used this version where he starts at 0:58 churning out these chords
Excellent like always. Dude, how can I chat to you? WhatsApp or Telegram app? Cheers.
hi Cortez.. dude I recently listened to Crosby Stills 4 Way St. for the first time in 20 yrs.. What a blast & such a fabulous song & album.. it is so cool it made me cry. You absolutely nailed it with this video, the tuning, the chords, inversions & change ups.. I tried it on a OOO bodied Washburn but it didn't work.. I discovered the real secret is to have that big booming D45 sound fortunately I have a fine 70's Japanese copy.. Thank u so kindly for your wonderful assistance w the lesson.. your playing is a delight like your own wonderful sounding guitar.. Buenos dias from Oz 'downunder' my friend !!
Thanks for your very nice comment ,Matt. I m glad this lesson helps other musicians like you to learn to play this beautiful song.

Thank you !
I was told CGCFAC is the authentic tune-down... (One step down and then both E-strings down one more step). I suppose this was to align with Neil Youngs vocal range
Yes that should be the record version.
Sorry, no speek inglech

So i just broke my high e tuning down to CGCFAC. Any tips?
Use very slow turns. And now replace the e string
Keep a collection of spare strings and experiment with different gauges / thickness of strings
