We know, it is the #1 requested feature by far :D - When we do a product update / new version (not in the works at the moment) we're certainly going to swap to USB-C. We had to hit the sweet spot between weight and battery life, hopefully some new battery tech will come out between now and then that will let us get some more hours out of it without adding any weight! This is due to ensuring maximum adhesive life vs. battery time. Thanks for the suggestions though! We're on it for sure!

One thing I will suggest if you are going to go the 3.5mm route is try to find the ModMic 5 at a good price as that also has the two mic modes (uni-directional and omni-directional), just with no mute switch which you’ll have to get separately.

If the base version was 30$, I would've bought one already. But 50$ seems overpriced to me.
The Uni is 63€ here in Germany, that's more than a Behringer C1 and a Behringer UM2 combined. We probably have the current human malware situation to thank for that.

For some reason my computer has trouble recognizing the modmic microphone audio input coming from the G6 despite me updating the drivers and screwing around with the settings. I'm going to get the USB modmic instead. The 3.5mm one was fantastic when my PC and G6 were actually getting along.
As for sound quality the G6 is awesome and has a huge excess of volume for the 58X and the EQ software is smooth after updating the G6. @timothyds7453 3 роки тому +1

I've had the USB version for about two years and today it died on me.
Apparently the cable got pulled on one to many times which must have internally damaged the wire.
Even the 'mute button' that used to light up red no longer does so when I pressed it so the damage must be quite severe.
This also seemed to have crashed my entire pc's mic system since not even my webcam mic worked afterwards.
I had to restart the pc multiple times (or should have restarted just the microphone driver) to have this issue solve itself ... was quite worried for a few minutes that I had a permanent issue.
In general I was very happy with it.
It had an excellent sound quality.
The magnets are strong and will not cause any issues. Also the 3M sticktape remains in place sturdy and has never come off.
The magnets are the excellent kind of strong that they will release the microphone if the cable gets pulled to hard instead of staying attached to the headset, this will prevent breaking the cable.
More than once throughout the 2 years that I had it did this happen to me.
I guess the very last pull today, not even hard, was enough to finally make something inside the cable snap.
    So .. I'm a bit mixed feelings ...
Do I go for a new one of the USB kind or go for the wireless one ...
I must say I always hated how narrow and thus a bit flimsy the cable felt ... I would happily have payed a few € more and had a braided cable instead of the cheap feeling full plastic one.

Honestly just get the mod-mic business.. Is it better than the others? No not really. But it is significantly cheaper and it works as well as a microphone ever has to work. I wouldnt stream karaoke with it but its more than good enough for playing some warzone online with friends. It also has more options for connectivity than the others making it more versatile. For my audio setup I have a dac/amp stack that doesnt allow for mic in because its not a feature I need very often and I didnt feel like paying a premium for gaming headphone amps that perform worse for music for my money. My solution? Full blown audiophile setup with no gaming compromises plus this modmic business. It comes standard with a usb adapter so i can plug it into my pc for steam games or discord no problem. As for console I use xbox and my console itself is like 8 feet away from my desk. But i can just use the standard 3.5mm jack to plug it directly into my controller or use a Y split to connect both my mic and headphones directly into the controller at the same time. The last beautiful thing to mention about the business model is that it does have a mute switch and does not have a mode switch. You plug it in and it works. Simple and works damn well.
