I really appreciate the backstory and shots of corals that went through hardship! Too often I'm dazzled with highlight reels that gloss over failures and slowly my subconscious leans toward impatience, so it is good to be reminded of the timescales of difficulty some coral go through.
@@ReefDork if you ever frag it could you please let me know? it's that fluffy rainbow goodness I love. I'm struggling to find nice millies and nice acros right now that aren't full blown colonies, I much prefer to start with a frag and watch it grow out, it's also the satisfaction and boasting factors of knowing I grew it XD love your uploads mate, always on my watch list :)
Corals are like kids. They take up a bunch of your time and money and you will do anything to make sure they are OK. Tank looks great! I love your rainbow lords.
The yellow around the polyps of your "Meteor Shower" cyphastrea remind me a lot of what's sold as the "Bizarro" cyphastrea ... but then again I'm of the mindset that all these corals that various farmers are throwing out with huge dollar signs on them are older corals that have simply color morphed due to the rise of LEDs.
Your new lights are making the corals look awesome. I keep buying acans and cant seem to find ones with bug fat polyps like I used to have! I had a bug fat plump rainbow acan that didnt survive my crash and I dont know why all the ones I get are not bug like that one! It only had one polyp when it died but it took up the entire frag plug!
That shirt made you look like a prisoner! Beautiful corals, especially those acans! And the acan that you hate i would sell it for some extra $$. Also congrats on 16k!! :)
Great list - I watched it twice - always wondered what cyphastrea to get... now I know. I think Latistella is a massively underrated Acro (whilst Strawberry shortcakes - the aussie ones - are outer barrier reef and super difficult. I know you keep saying it - only get REALLY nice corals - IT IS SO TRUE. I am drawn to the nice corals first but once I see more than 20% of the tank with average corals it ruins it for me. If you see a really nice galaxea buy it and put it on top of those green lords... but maybe a nicer coral (especially if you like orange) is acan enchinata - I would stay that will wipe em out ;) There is a toxic green tort that Akvantika has - it temps me but I have a Green Goblin Anacropora and I'm REALLY afraid of Green and always after yellow. I was a bit iffy about spending on Zoas like Utter Chaos - but my Utter Chaos are a really show stopper. My top 8.... 9 - Burning Banana Stylocoenella - (it is so happy all I see is burn and no banana - otherwise it would be higher 8 - GSP (don't tell anyone) - it's on it's own rock and is super nice. 7 - Utter Chaos 6 - Jack-o-lantern lepto 5 - Light purple with yellow tip tabling acro - it may be a latistella - it was pretty cheap too and I got it with a cyan acro with yellow around the coralites - two amazing, cheap, aussie acros that I thought I'd lose within 2 weeks but they have held their color after 2 months - yay. 4 - Pink goni with yellowish lashes - It's amazing - when I got it it was an amazing cyan base and yellow lashes - it changes - the lashes were more yellow originally and I loved the original but it's so happy I am super happy with it and it's like 5 x 8 cm ;) 3 - (fake) Kung Pow Monti - I have a true crazy t but this beats it 2 - Forest Fire Digi - it's so amazing under whites or blues and is a true one with the yellow edges Honorable Mention - Galaxy Psammocora would be top 5 but I moved it to an obscure place on the overflow where I rarely notice it 1 - Dark Blue (it doesn't seem purple (black to me) yellow tip torch (with a green mouth) - it's the best torch I have ever seen and for me was an obscene amount of money. Honestly I love all but 3 of the corals (mostly frags) in my tank and the ones I don't love I could easily remove.
Another great video :) As a research scientist I always balk when I see Latin names with a capital letter for the species. So Acropora latistelle, genus in capital species in lower case, I won't go into the italics rule :)
Aww come on who gave the thumbs down! This was actually a good video of his corals he likes and hates. Please let everyone know why you have a thumbs down even if it’s a comment to me. Anyway good video Reef Dork! ⭐️
My fave has to to be the Acan but all of them look awesome 👌....i have just lost my first two sps I believe to a fast KH drop before I started dosing so I can appreciate what it takes to keep them alive and flourishing....maybe you could keep feeding the Green Acan some Aiptasia killer, ha ha 😋 🤔 hmmm better still a new chunk of rock and Acan back to LFS for some credit?
I have a scoly, but it's recovering - was almost dead when I bought it! No Trachys unfortunately - not enough space. Had a few really nice gonis but they all died so I figured it wasn't meant to be!
You have an awesome tank but that wallpaper blurs everything. Cant get to appreciate all hour hard work at all. Try to fix it and youll have many happy viewers.
Reefdork!! Have you ever considered making a Facebook or Instagram page for all your tanks or something?? If not you should, I'd love to follow that as well

When grown out and under blues, they look FANTASTIC!!

Yeah, I've wondered if it's a MS. They look more purple to me, but I can't really tell the difference to be honest!
Great work ! Thanks for your time & effort ! Your vids always cheer me up !

Great video
Great video. What was your major change in reducing your phosphate levels?
Tried carbon dosing but that only really reduced nitrates (which were already low) so I started using Rowaphos again. Can't beat the stuff.
I don't care what you say that green Acan is sweet. I've had trouble getting any acans to work in my tanks. The rainbow acan is quite stunning though!

NOTHING wrong with GSP! But yes, we'll keep it a secret! Some lovely corals on that list too - Jack O'Lantern missed out by a nose on my list.

What’s that dark blue/purple acro above the shortcake?

I'm a meteor shower lover too. In fact, it will dominate my tank (is my plan). How fast does it grow for you?
Mine grows at a nice pace - not too fast but not too slow. Perfect!
