A heart wrenching but beautiful song, sung to perfection! Home Free never disappoints!
Don McLean doesn't write lyrics - he puts poetry to music. This is such a beautiful song & so beautifully sung. Don McLean still sounds terrific & Home Free are the perfect collaborators. Always immaculate singing & harmonies and respectful of the artists conception of the music. And I so want a copy of the picture at the end in which they're literally absorbed.
Actually, Don didn't come back to do this with Home Free, he invited them to back him on the re-release. It's kind of amazing that he asked them to back him on the re-release of his two most iconic songs. They also back him on the title track of his new album, American Boys. There's an audio-only version on Don's channel. It's a bop. I think it's fine if you want to do a "do over" reaction to American Pie. As long as you explain the circumstances, I don't think there's a problem. It's such a great version.

Love this collaboration! "Vincent" is such a great song by Don McLean! He originally did it in 1972. What a great remake with Home Free! Rob's voice is perfect for this song. Such a beautiful tribute to the sad life of the painter Vincent Van Gogh. He suffered from depression & committed suicide. He never saw any success during his life. But now his paintings are worth millions of dollars.

This is truly phenomenal! What a voice Don McLean still has! Wow. And of course Austin also sang great, but Rob's voice is just perfect for this song. His voice so warm, soft as silk and full of emotion. The quiet background vocals and guitar playing complete it for me. It's the same song as my youth, but with the Home Free twist it's something different. A beautiful song where I, of course, as a Dutch person, know the history of Vincent van Gogh well. I lived not far from his birthplace for a while. If I could, I would have given Don McLean and Home Free a bouquet of sunflowers in memory of Vincent. The sunflower one of his most famous paintings 🌻......

Vincent's life was full of depression. I think his younger brother Theo was his greatest support. Vincent had a love/hate relationship with Paul Gauguin. When there were tensions between the two again, Vincent cut off his left ear. There is a painting of his ear being bandaged. At the age of 37, Vincent shot himself in the chest and died. A man with a sad life where he mainly made himself difficult. There is a mini series about Vincent which is very interesting to see.
Love this! Don sounds great for 78! Loved our boys backing him up and Rob sounded great too. I loved the paintings behind them and yes, them incorporated into a painting was clever. Good one Jess!😍🤩

Thank you for your reaction! I got Don McLeans American Pie album in 1971, and instantly fell in love with the song Vincent. It’s remained one of my favorite songs all these decades. This version with Home Free just takes it up another level for me.

The slight aging in Mr. McLean's voice added an even more hauntingly beautiful quality to the lyrics. Home Free/Don McLean a divine collaboration.

You should ABSOLUTELY go back and re-do the "American Pie" reaction, as far as I'm concerned. Just make sure people understand what happened!
I, for one, don't care in the LEAST whether or not someone has already seen/heard the song/video before they react! I really have no clue how that all got started. Just react to what you like! We come to WATCH the reactions, because WE'VE already seen and heard them, and we like to know how others feel about them. Who cares if YOU'VE already seen and heard them. You could even make a "before" and "after" thing if you wanted. How did I react to this back THEN, and how have my tastes changed, if they HAVE changed, and why?" That kind of thing. I'm TOTALLY for anything like that, and I don't care in the least, how many times someone has watched or listened to the song before, though it IS nice to know IF they have heard/seen it before. That gives one a frame of reference, and I always love that.

New here! Love that your mom taught you about different art forms! Don and Home Free are such a great combo! This version is brilliantly performed! Love the video, too! I always get chills in certain parts of the song! Don invited Home Free to record a song called “American Boys” with him for his new upcoming album. I don’t know how I haven’t stumbled on your channel prior to this. I’ve been a fan of the guys since their Sing Off appearances in 2013. I watched may of the reactors during the pandemic.
