EF4 tornado touched down near his house and swept him away. My friend said "okay change of plans. I'm staying here in Tennessee". I feel bad for him and for the guy that lost his life. It was a tornado producing storm that was the initial warning. Then it went observed with my report I submitted off the camera, which got ppl to shelter, I was flying home bc my house was in the path and got clipped by an ef2. So fuel management goes out the window then. I said I was in the path of velocity. I was well aware there was a mesocyclone but was hoping it wouldn't produce. Every decision I made during this chase I fully stand by.

I'm glad you're okay. My tornado knowledge comes from reading about what the heck I just experienced. This year a land funnel touched down just one field over and a couple of years ago we had a tornado less than 4 miles from there too.
My husband's semi truck overheated and shut down when the fierce winds made it impossible for the truck to "breath".
But the scariest was in Michigan before I learned rain wrapped tornados exist. I was on a motorcycle and rainfall was so heavy and dark in the middle of the day I couldn't see the lights of the rider ahead of me. Water was pushing my feet off the pegs and my helmet visor was useless.
It wasn't until I got into a rest stop after the storm had passed and was drying myself off when a woman came and put her hand in my shoulder.
There was a panicked undertone to her voice when she said with great concern, "You weren't out in that were you? There was a tornado."
I've been really lucky, and I now I'm educated. Thank you for sharing and educating others to keep people safe.
