      I tried a natural aluminum free deodorant and while I loved it, I hated that it wasn't anti-perspirant. I live in an area that is 90°+ most of the year so everyone here sweats A LOT. I switched back to my old deodorant last summer and haven't used my natural one since

    I regret buying the Blueland dishwasher tablets. They don't really get my dishes clean, especially my tea mugs, even if I use 2 tablets. I *deeply* regret buying so many of them, too! I've also bought so many shampoo bars hoping they'll be good for my oily hair and dandruff. Why can't head & shoulders make a shampoo bar?

    • @SakakiHiroshi
      @SakakiHiroshi 2 роки тому

      Don't know it if might help you or not, but I bought their dishwasher tablets as well and eventually found out that if I make sure to run hot water from the tap before I start the washing cycle the tablet does a really good job, but does mediocre when the dishwasher is just started as is.

    I definitely change my mind about dish brushes too, but I've given up on dish brushes entirely. Whether it was plastic or wood, so many people do the dishes differently in my house they always ended up molding at some point. 😅 Not fantastic!

    I love this, partly the reason I want to film a "rating EVERYTHING sustainable I own" series of videos. Cause not everything we buy that's eco friendly is actually sustainable for our personal lifestyles. I use a loofah to wash my dishes, and when it get's old I sanitize it in hot water laundry load and use it for cleaning until I'm ready to compost.

    • @tatysapp
      @tatysapp 2 роки тому

      also Izzy refillable mascara is one you should try!! It's in aluminum packaging and is a subscription, when you receive your next bottle you mail back the old one to be cleaned and refilled.

    • @tatysapp
      @tatysapp 2 роки тому

      Okay I'm obviously commenting while I'm watching your video, lol!! I'd love to hear your thoughts on Parade underwear brand. I've really been on a "use that you have" mindset lately, and when I run out of something I make note of what my mind initially wants to buy as a replacement (ie: laundry pods vs powder or liquid, liquid conditioner vs bar, toothpaste vs tablets, body butter vs lotion bars, etc) so I can make a more mindful sustainable purchase instead of trying the next new "eco friendly" thing just because.

    I have a reusable cutlery set in my backpack (purse) and I use it more often than I thought I would (and I don't travel much). It's nice to take to work with me and I don't have to worry if I brought silverware or have to use the plastic ones at work. I use it when I go through a drive thru and I let them know I don't need plastic spoons/forks. It's also nice if you get a to-go dessert or something and are too impatient to wait until you get home and want to eat it in the car! haha!
    I also use my reusable straw at least multiple times a week, but I love straws so that works for me and is definitely not wasted!

    With you regarding the bamboo toothbrush. My electric one is needed to get the job done. I've seen a new electric, external bamboo toothbrush. Ok, hear me out because I had the same issue with Girlfriend Collective. I went all in and bought a bunch of their leggings and bras and then my body changed a bit and I suddenly HATED them. I also have sensory issues with clothing so that could be part of it as well. But I decided to try their scoop unitard and have never been happier. It's basically leggings and a bra all in one and (most importantly) everything stays in place! No more leggings rolling down or bras moving around during the workout. I have since bought several of them and I'm so pleased!

    • @StrollingThroughLife
      @StrollingThroughLife  2 роки тому +2

      Ohhhhh interesting! I’ve actually heard good things about the unitard! (And if I’m uncomfortable with wearing just that, I could always throw a tshirt over it haha). I’ll definitely have to think about that! Thanks for telling me because I wouldn’t have given the unitard the time of day haha! Definitely good to know! 😊👍

      @@StrollingThroughLife Yes! That's exactly what I do. If I'm just working out at home, I wear it solo but when I walk my dog, I generally throw a shirt over it and it just looks like regular leggings. For sizing, I am larger on the top half than bottom and I bought the unitard to match my GFC bra size instead of leggings size. Hope it helps if you decide to give it a go!

    One thing I've learned using the Besame Mascara cake is that you can get a lot more product per swipe depending on tools and water amount. It still takes more patience and time, but if you use a little more water and let it sit for a while (I try to add it at the beginning of my makeup routine since mascara is one of the last things I do), it'll soak in more and goop up a bit, so it's thicker. I also use an old mascara tube brush, which is so much easier to work with than the one they give you.
    If you do try it, give yourself a fair amount of time to play with techniques

    Beeswax cloth wraps. I thought they were brilliant at first, but I just can't get them to comply with me. They can crack, crumble, and wear out fast, they're annoying to clean, and they are still too porous to really save any freshness in the food it wraps. Silicone bags work fine for a lot of things, but those are MORE obnoxious to clean (but great for people with the patience to wash, or those with a dishwasher, maybe?). I switched to glass containers with click-lock lids (those other pyrex lids crack so fast) and I love 'em.

    For your dish brush, have you tried Squishful yet? I had a feeling that all the "zero-waste dish brushes" would rust with that metal bit, and Squishful is only brand I've found that's 100% compostable rather than having that metal bit. It's totally bamboo and the wooden head screws on to the wooden handle. Been using it for a year and absolutely love it.

    i dont do "zero waste" but i do try to severely limit my single use plastic purchases - i don't really get the whole laundry/tide pod thing in the first place, i dont have a washing machine or anything, so i just use liquid detergent bc the bigger the package, the less plastic used overall. plus, i have noticed that a lot of "eco friendly" soaps etc use essential oils and those are really resource-heavy for what you get, and they arent gentle on the skin, and i need gentle soaps etc., so i just stick with bar soap and large bottles of laundry soap
    my favorite low-waste swap though has been felted wool dryer balls. the brand i have is friendsheep, they are fair trade wool made by nepalese women supporting their families, and you dont have to buy dryer sheets which can leave stains on your clothing. Also! they absorb water and lower the drying time on your clothes, so they save on electricity!
    also, heres a secret companies dont want you to know: you dont actually need fabric softener. the big name brands are all petroleum based, so on your polyester clothing it will seal in all of your sweat etc, and it also created a film on the outside of your washer drum which is what causes your washer to smell.

    I'm curious to see how the toothbrush heads work for you! I never jumped on the bamboo toothbrush train because I already had an electric toothbrush that I didn't want to throw away while it still worked.
    One thing I changed my mind on is wool dryer balls. They didn't seem to reduce static or the time it takes my clothes to dry. My cats also like to steal them while I'm folding laundry and play with them, so it ends up being one more thing I have to wash before I can put them back in the dryer. 😆

    I really enjoy soap nuts a for doing my laundry. It's great for everyday cloaths that don't have any major stains that need to be refreshed. If I have something more stubborn I use powder detergent zthat you can easily buy in a cardboard box.
    But I found out I hate the reusable cotton pads. I hate washing them, drying them etc. Although I love micellar water to remove my makeup I switched to oil cleansers and tonners I can use with my hands. It's less mess.

    kinda confused here! saying you changed your mind about something kind of implies that it didn’t work for you/that it’s not a good fit for your chosen lifestyle; but if the only thing that changed is the pandemic, and you would be traveling otherwise and therefore using it… is that really changing your mind about it? the pandemic was out of everyone’s control so i interpreted this as: you don’t plan to travel much anymore even if the pandemic didn’t restrict you, and therefore the reusable cutlery and the travel tushy don’t serve you; did i interpret that correctly?
    i was just kind of waiting to hear what part of these things clashed with your actual lifestyle but it sounds like they don’t (beyond the restrictions of a pandemic, i mean)

    If someone even just use that permanent straw once, it's a straw that can't be eaten by an animal, or have it get stuck in its nose.

    Girlfriend Collective is barely size-inclusive if you look at their size chart. Sure the X numbers go up really high, but the actual sizes of their clothing aren't that inclusive. Depends on your definition of size-inclusive!
