Here it is, Klemm’s newly acquired Haverhill location!
As you all know, I filmed this exact wash back in early 2023, but then it was under the Clean Machine name. It was an older tunnel wash with 2 recently renovated touch free automatics, multiple self service bays and plenty of vacuums. But I’ve also gone here back in 2021 to attempt to film the tunnel and the touch free automatics, but the tunnel was down for maintenance at the time, so I was only able to film one of the touch free automatics.
The tunnel wash had a mixture of PECO/Vintage Belanger equipment. At one point, a Belanger neon arch was at the entrance, right before the PECO front to back mitter. There were also super old Belanger rinse arches as well. The rest of the wash equipment was from PECO, but the dryers were a combination of unknown and Sonny’s. Originally, the dryers were International Drying Corp units, but they got replaced with the Sonny’s dryers in late-2017/early-2018.
The touch free automatics were originally PDQ LaserWash G5-S machines, and they were not good at all. The Presoak was super watery, the spot free rinse wasn’t spot free and the on-board MaxAir dryers were awful. Thankfully, they got replaced in 2023 with WashWorld RAZORS. Around this time, Clean Machine switched over the FormulaFinish chemicals, as they originally were using ZEP (now NCS Vehicle Solutions).
The car wash remained Clean Machine until one day, I drove past it one day and noticed a “Klemm’s Express” logo at the exit of the tunnel. I was surprised to see this, and I never thought that Klemm’s would want to expand. I looked on their Facebook page to confirm this, and indeed, they bought the old Clean Machine location and were going to do major renovations to the property!
On May 29. the major renovations started. They would be completely redoing the tunnel wash and the self service bays, along with installing 9 new free vacuums throughout the property. Because the touch free automatics were recently replaced with RAZORS, and with the other Klemm’s location having RAZORS as well, they were kept.
I kept looking at their Facebook for updates on the renovation and was surprised from what I saw. They were going to be installing AVW equipment in the tunnel! AVW is starting to pop up more and more here in New England, along with MacNeil as well. However, this tunnel would be all AVW, with all of the Sonny’s dryers and the Sonny’s conveyor remaining.
The self service bays got new equipment as well, and those reopened before the tunnel wash. The tunnel reopened on July 12 and were giving away FREE washes for the grand reopening! And I always love a free wash, so I chose to come here instead of another wash.
They were still putting some stuff together when I was here, such as some of the chemicals, like the Graphene Ultra. But the rest of the equipment was up and running! It’s a full fledged AVW tunnel with wraps, side washers, mitters, a high pressure arch, rocker panel and wheel brushes, tire shiners, rinse/wax arches and a combination of the original Sonny’s and new AVW dryers. Chemicals are from FormulaFinish.

Comments: the wash did a fantastic job! It does a much better job than the old equipment that was here before, and the light show inside the tunnel is awesome too! I’d highly recommend this wash to anyone who is in the Haverhill area. But also don’t forget to check out their Salem NH location!
