That opening monologue hit so hard, reminds me of someone I knew, and remember all too well.

THIS is AMAZING. Gilmore Girls means everything to me. But AYITL stomped all over and wiped its feet on my heart. You, on the other hand, managed to make something beautiful and true out of it. Thank you.
thank you, thank you, thank you

That was literally flawless. I loved your vision with this edit and how you adopted this song and its lyrics to Rory's and Jess's story, especially with the past not only representing their relationship, but Rory's return to herself that she had lost with Logan. I hope you post more :)

This is perfection. Their whole story. Who they are. How they are a constant in each others lives, guiding and inspiring . Great edit, thank you!

I LOVED the way you incorporated the Logan parts where the lyric didn’t fit well with Literati, it made so much more sense with the story you’ve shown! Very well done, I loved it 🥰

Hi, thank you so much for the comment. You know, I tried to explain why I made that choice, but it was so long that didn't fit in the description. So I'll try to summarize it in this comment. Basically I split the video in 7 parts, just like in the original one.
The first 4 parts are about her relationship with Jess.
"An Upstate Escape" starts at: 0:42.
"The First Crack In The Glass" starts at 2:32.
"Are You Real?" starts at 3:07.
And "The Breaking Point" starts at 4:04.
And to me, this was when the description of her relationship with Jess ended. After that, the man she's describring in "The Reeling“ Part (4:45) is nothing like Jess but it looks A LOT like Logan to me.
      “A never-needy, ever-lovely jewel whose shine reflects on you (5:06) ”
“You who charmed my dad (5:26) ”
      It's so Logan.
The Reeling part is dedicated to Rory's story with Logan, because in my opinion, it turned out to be the most harmful. Logan was the kind of "lightness" that Rory needed after the end of the story with Jess. He changed her, but for the worse. He taught her to live recklessly, throwing herself into things without thinking, because they are rich and they will never pay the consequences of their actions. Rory begins to falter, her relationship with Logan is changing her negatively, leading to her abandoning Yale and distancing herself from Lorelai. She spends her days doing nothing, and her evenings partying, getting drunk with Logan and his friends. That's until someone from her past comes back into her life...
I started "The Remembering" Part at 6:21 when the lyrics said: "But you keep my old scarf from that very first week, cause it reminds you of INNOCENCE, and it smells like me, you can't get rid of it, cause you remember it all too well" And that's when Jess came back. Jess returns into Rory's life and awakens her from her numbness. He updates her on his life. He tells her that he has stable a job he likes, that he has written a book, and that he has finally managed to find some form of stability in his life (and keep in mind that his instability, was one of the many reasons their relationship didn't work out - no cheating crap or smth like that.) He also thanks her for being the only one who believed in him and his potential, when no one else - including himself - did ("I couldn't have done it without you.") This shows how, despite being missing for 1 year and half, Jess never stopped thinking about Rory, not even for a second. In fact, I'm prone to think that she was actually the main reason he started this inner journey to improve himself. Jess meets Logan, and he realizes how he contributed to negatively affected Rory's life. He can't recognize her anymore, and when she starts making futile excuses to justify her life choices, Jess urges her to take the reins of her life back. He's the reason her life got back on track, at least till she graduated.
Then starts the last part "15 Years Gone" (7:22) and it's all about the revival. Rory sees Jess again. They are now both in their 30s, and their paths have taken completely different directions. On the one hand, we find Jess much more mature. The life experience led him to grow, and he was able to find some kind of inner peace. He made peace with himself and his inner little boy who felt abandoned by everything and everyone. On the other hand, we find Rory who is still at square one. Her life is a complete disaster. She doesn't have a job, nor a stable home. Her past ghosts continue to haunt her: when she sees Logan's father again () the one that told her that she was not good at journalism, prompting her to abandon Yale and doubt herself and her abilities, Rory returns back to being that confused and frightened little girl. Many think that Mitchum was right about Rory, for me he is not. His motives had nothing to do with Rory's abilities, his intent was to put her in crisis, to make her feel inadequate towards her son and her family. Wealthy people like Logan and his father don't give a damn about other people's feelings, they treat them like beggars because they're too focused on themselves and their ego. And unfortunately Rory at that moment in her life, did not had the strength, nor the experience necessary to prove otherwise. She let herself fell into a spiral of self-destruction from which she never got out. That spiral from which Jess has always tried to "save her". He did it the first time, letting her know that her place was at Yale, and he did it again now that Rory is "at a dead end in her life". He suggested her to write a book about her life and the relationship with her mother. Rory is thrilled. She writes the first 3 chapters in one night, and explains to Lorelai how it was all so simple and natural for her. It's been all in her head for years, but she had never been able to figure it out. Putting it down in a book will probably help Rory open the "Pandora's Box" buried in her subconscious, and realize who she has always loved her. Jess watches her from afar, behind a window. His gaze exudes love and concern. He is still worried about the turn Rory's life is taking and tries to help her as best he can, but staying on the sidelines, because he knows that Rory has to figure out what the problem is, by herself. He gives her the space to grow, waiting for the moment when she'll be ready to welcome him back into her life. Jess and Rory are pretty much the same character, each mirroring the other. They have a very similar family situation (both abandoned by their father, and both raised by a single mother), and many interests in common. For this reason they were immediately attracted to each other, and for this reason they always understood each other perfectly when no one else could. I like to represent their story as this sort of two-pan scale: at the beginning Jess was the one holding all the weight and standing at the bottom, while Rory was at the top, then the reverse happened. Now the only step missing is to balance both weights, so that they are equal and that this story can work in a healthy and balanced way. Because a relationship can really work, only when both partners are individually complete. If you are not okay with yourself first, you cannot be ok with someone else, in the long run, some imbalance will emerge that will ruin the relationship. And I find it such a beautiful message to send to the audience, especially young women 😊

@@stormix6322 I loved EVERYTHING about your explaination, I couldn’t have said it better and I 100% agree with your words. But I also think you didn’t need to explain yourself because your edit made it clear as day. You captured everything ALL TOO WELL (lol)
