Exactly! He had the best character development. I’ve loved this show since I was a kid and was a huge Rory fan but growing up made me realize how she grew into an entitled brat who did malicious things like cheating lol. Wish she could’ve grown into a better woman😭🥺😂

Jess was the absolute best out of everyone she dated, I am fully prepared to defend this with my life. The only problem was that he acted like a punk in the very beginning and had communication issues, which he resolved both, but Rory was already messing her future up by the time the perfect, mature Jess came around. Jess always let Rory be her own person with her own interests, trusted her was ok with her being friends with an ex, and fully encouraged HER dreams, unlike Dean or Logan.
@@lg5627 I adore Jess but I have to give the gold star to Logan. He wasn't perfect, by any means. But the maturing process that Jess goes through in Philadelphia after leaving Rory behind, Logan goes through while with Rory and he does it for Rory (or maybe because of her, whichever way you want to see it). Then he goes on to ruin that with a rushed proposal, but oh well, I blame the writers for that because it was very OOC for him.
"You didn't do anything" always breaks my heart. I love Jess and I think he was one the only one of Rory's boyfriends who loved her for who she really was and wanted the best for her. He was okay with not being her boyfriend he just wanted her to be true to herself.

At first I didnt really like Jess, but looking back, he was the only romantic partner who believed Rory could be more and pushing her to improve in the latter half of the series
fr he went to such lengths to always encourage rory to never lose who she is and be herself because when she was with logan i didnt always feel like she was reaching her fullest potential
logan did that too tho, he let her be who she wanted to be
Although, I always found hypocritical how he was upset over her leaving Yale even though he had asked her to drop everything and go live in NYC with him a year prior

he always introduced rory to random people he knew sometimes which made her quite uncomfortable but he didnt rlly care cus, things seemed to centre more around him.
when no one is able to talk rory back to Yale and then Jess appears for ONE EPISODE and she realizes where she belongs + when she is facing a work crisis and he is the one who says she should write the book about her and lorelai

he annoyed me so much in the firsts seasons, he was selfish, had anger issues and was so mean to everyone, but later he started to fight for his dreams and tried to become a better person, in the revival you see a totally different person from the firsts seasons, the only character that actually had a character development honestly...

So true because Jess was needy! And that was okay! He needed someone to support him just like he supported Rory, but Rory ONLY wanted him to support her and wasn’t willing to put in effort to make sure he felt seen and loved. She wanted to be the main character in the relationship.
Plus, at that age, all the support he actually needed was from an adult (two, actually) but couldn’t get it
I don't really think it's right to go into the blame-game here. They were both kids. Jess had a really shitty family situation and had no idea how to process emotions. He was a really toxic person in this relationship and Rory deserved better. That being said, Rory had her share of growing up to do as well. It was a beautiful relationship, but not the right one for either of them..

I'm gonna continue watching if I hear about this. I stopped watching cause I read so many devastating shit thats happened and I dont like it. It begun being my comfort show, just chill and be happy and move on the next episode. But then again, theres are a lot of downwall on each character and I dont wanna handle that.
@@serendptybutdiff7481, is sad see what happened with each character years later but tbh it has sense, now rory is an adult and is different she was so good in school but school isnt life, she thinks shell got everything she wants and not, and emily the same, she realized her behaviors. "Were you lead I will follow" is now literal, it seems like rory is now like lorelei. I recommend you to see an analysis of the development of the character ;)

Man, how ironic is it that without Jess Rory's character got worse while Jess kept evolving without her. At the end he outgrew Rory so much that he became too good for her! Jess is literally the one that got away and it was because of her choice just because she chose married Dean in season 4 and then Logan in season 6. I really do think that Rory loved him the most of the 3 big boyfriends given how short their relationship was and how quickly she fell for him. I think she never forgave him the heartbreak he caused her.

this. omg I hardly ever cry but this had me sobbing. I didn't even cry at the short film... but this broke my heart. Jess and Rory were definitely right person wrong time. Both characters needed character development when they got together but now that they've learned they would probably be so much better together.
