So it’s more of an informative video so you’re not surprised if things don’t turn out your way. But best of luck to you.
The main advantage of the army is finding good temporary friends, but the military's discipline and character building are skills you can acquire elsewhere in life. The military types are imposed. It's not the same. If you're out for tactical training, then it is more efficiently gained through dedicated practice at a range with experts, not the regular army. Regular infantry primarily handles patrolling, mine clearance, and guarding (when actually performing, otherwise they're waiting and cleaning), with actual combat roles filled by Rangers and Special Forces. The rarity of real Special Forces operations means their skills are often underutilized, but extra investment in regular infantry won't be needed this way. Transitioning back to civilian life, you'll find limited practical skills putting you at a starting disadvantage. A more sensible approach is to complete college -take a break if you really have to - finish it and only then consider an officer's path if still interested.
It's about control. That's the primary function of army policy and leadership. It hides behind a veil of "character building and discipline". Only down the road you'll being to see. But many remain gullible by the way.
I like these unfiltered videos. I'm about to graduate college and am looking to enlist and I'd rather hear the honest truth. It won't deter me from going, but at least I can mentally prepare myself.
You can try to be and officer, which is mostly paperwork and planning you’ll be a 2nd lieutenant. Officers get paid more, or you can go the Enlisted side and go in as a E-4 specialist. Depending on what you want to do you got those options, you’ll be going to OCS though. I am a Enlisted Grunt with 2 BA’s. There are quite a few people with BA and hire. Idk about you but I have a love hate relationship with being a 11B. Shit sucks but fuck does it make me feel like a bad ass doing infantry shit, jumping out of planes and choppers, rucking, shooting and blowing shit up!!
@@11bsavage64 From what I understand, officers deal with mostly just paperwork so I'd rather go in as an E4. Sure the pay is less but at least you get to do some interesting stuff. I'm glad to hear there are others enlisted with BAs too.
As others have mentioned, going OCS will be way more paper and business. However, usually after the butter bar, you get choices including schools and other training. As an enlisted, you're mostly at the luck of the draw which can make your first years a potential let down. It can still happen with OCS, but you'll still get more opportunities. Find an MOS that peaks your interest and can sell itself to you.

Seen a recruiter for national guard decided to do 11b infantry, in the process of getting medical waiver, and criminal history waiver. Any tips on how I could potentially have better chances to getting those? They are big "red flags" for the military but recruiter told me I have a good chance but when I turned in my medical records, he seemed a little concerned I wouldn't be able to join. (Could see it on his face)
Facts man your telling facts it the same in the marine corps to did 4 years was promise to be infantry got lied to and screwed and put in an aviation job that I didn't want and the past 4 years 2 out 4 years where good but I had toxic leadership and got screwed over alot by my leadership and lied to the military dont get me is a good gig
All he has accomplished in this video is to explain how the Army has always been and that the Army is precisely reflective of the population it defends; diverse in personalities, ethnicities, religions, hobbies, habits, social political beliefs and attitudes. Cleaning? WTF else do you expect to clean up after the mess you made? And he is not being factual in describing his MOS and how he never got to do his MOS. That may be true for him based on the unit he was assigned to. However, the Troop Medical Clinics and other Med facilities where soldiers go to when they are sick or hurt are staffed by the 68W MOS, XRAY, Lab tech, medical records specialists and other personnel in the medical field If you begin bad habits or blindly listen to stup1d sh1t like "medics don't go to sickcall" something a NCO or Officer can literally not deny you from doing, that is on you for listening. That kind of dumbsh1t is NOT an order. I was in for 20 years, active duty Field Artillery, never smoked or drank coffee and only drank while in Korea (back when it was still fun to be in Korea). The Army is exactly what you make it to be for yourself.
Makes me really second guess joining. I got kids and a wife. Thinking about the guard and I'm starting to feel like my recruiter is blowing smoke up my ass
Well gee Ben as far I knew enlisted US Army recruiters and commissioned recruiting managers when you get to MEPS they tell you whether or not there's an opening at any given MOS code and let yah know that you don't have to sign a "TOE" enlistment contract if the job isn't currently available. They don't play games like the Marine Corps and have you sign the contract first and then BS you later on about job selections thay by there own admission can't be guaranteed. All that being said Ben don't let me or anyone else insult your I intelligence about bad mouthing military policies 😳
im in the process of joing the army . Army because i thought it was the only branch thatll ship me out 1,2 months after signing .. 5,6,12 months people actually wait dat long after signing?
Also is it possible for me to go to airborne school if I didn’t pick it on my job site I picked choice of station istead of going airborne my recruiter told me I could at fort Lewis
Ok so I don't even know where to start with your video since there are so many things wrong with it. And again I do promise I am not trying to be mean, just firm. Like first off you're in the ARMY, I mean, what do you expect it to be sunshine and roses? I mean you do whatever they need. It is not hard. You need to scrub toilets, guess what, your scrubbing toilets. I mean anything in the Army is better than the 3 common civilian jobs... (I think anyways) which are: 1.) Restaurant/Hospality 2.)Retail 3.) Office You tend to scare off a LOT of people who want to join over Petty things as you say a lot "what they don't tell you is...". I mean, yes you may not do what you want when you sign on, yes you may not have time off as much as you would like, yes you may make friends you will never speak to again, you may be a "combat janitor", you may all get paid the same regardless of how hard you work (which is a good one, b/c trust me, they are watching you. And you may just be promoted based off your hard work), yes their may be favoritism, etc etc etc (I can't remember all that you complained about). But Honestly, you have this shit everywhere. I would rather go to work in the military, in a uniform, doing something, and being a part of something big, than dealing with bitchy customers in retail or restaurants. Or dealing with favoritism in the Army, than dealing with it in the office. Again nothing to be mean "Bruh" but be a little open minded in your videos. Like "hey this was my experience, yours may be better, but be prepared it may be like this" kinda deal. Right now you're scaring young men from enlisting based on "Your" bad experience. And that is not right. That's all I am saying. Just be understanding just b/c it didn't work out for you, or you had a bad experience, doesn't mean the Whole Army Experience" is like that. So summarize my comment, what you complained about was either everywhere in every day life, or common sense when joining the military. The military is not sunshine and roses, they keep you busy maintaining stuff and if that's what needs to be done, better than any office job where they can fire you at anytime.
"...and without further ado, let's get to it." *really gets to it almost 2 minutes into the video, after an intro and asking for subscribers for the first of three or so times* Thanks for the content, but I wish you'd keep things simpler, more concise, and to the point.
2 mins really ain’t that deep. It’s part of the process and promotion they have to do as YT’s. If you have watched many other YT’s some don’t get into their content until almost 10 mins into the video. If your argument was towards that, it would be understandable but he did a great job at keeping the intro short in my opinion

I’ll never understand why some people think that taking care of yourself is “little bitch” or “pussy” behavior.
Yup. I heard that a lot when I decided to join the Air Force
It's about control. That's the primary function of army policy and leadership. It hides behind a veil of "character building and discipline". Only down the road you'll being to see. But many remain gullible by the way.
Best friend is leaving for Basic in 19 days and I wish I knew where he is going to be for his first duty station.
I’ll try and make more vids like this!
I didnt get the job I wanted before I went to MEPS due to openings but by the time I got to MEPS there were a couple openings for the one I wanted and now im waiting to ship out in a couple weeks for 15R🤟
Had my BLC date get moved to next month because my PSG was at my house going over my packing list and she ends up testing positive for covid so now I have quarantine 😂🤣
Hey great video. Ill be watching a lot of these before I go to basic. Side note: I enlisted as a 68w. Is there any specific advice you could give me to help me prepare for that?
I have a bunch of 68w videos!
Thanks ill check them out.
Heads up, if you go to emt school and get your nremt and american red cross bls certs, you go into the army as a specialist.
I like the hounesty especially about these recruiters because while I’m sure there are good ones I know they’re are bad ones I have met bad ones and it’s nice to know the signs if they don't care about anything but filling spots but im definitely gonna join civilian jobs have a lot of shitty bosses too though im just saying lol
You just gained a subscriber 👍🏼
I served from 1988-2008 which was before your time but it sounds like nothing has changed
Im wanting to do the reserves as a helicopter mechanic, im just conflicted about the whole thing lmao
U kept it 100 bud :)
Always bro!
You kinda gots a big head
I was also told i gots a big head
We can be big head bros!
Like anything else it's got its ups and downs. A lot of what was said applies to life in the civilian workplace.
However, the Troop Medical Clinics and other Med facilities where soldiers go to when they are sick or hurt are staffed by the 68W MOS, XRAY, Lab tech, medical records specialists and other personnel in the medical field
If you begin bad habits or blindly listen to stup1d sh1t like "medics don't go to sickcall" something a NCO or Officer can literally not deny you from doing, that is on you for listening. That kind of dumbsh1t is NOT an order.
I was in for 20 years, active duty Field Artillery, never smoked or drank coffee and only drank while in Korea (back when it was still fun to be in Korea). The Army is exactly what you make it to be for yourself.
20 min: the bad. 3 min: the good lollll
Im sure theres more good to the military, specially going in right after highschool, you’ll probably grow up FAST
Makes me really second guess joining. I got kids and a wife. Thinking about the guard and I'm starting to feel like my recruiter is blowing smoke up my ass
Can you back out before going to basic because you don’t wanna take the covid vaccine ?
What do you think hanging around the shitbag E4 prevented you from achieving? What were the issues of becoming acquainted with them?
I didnt mind ending my army career as a SPC
Real ass topic
On God!! I’m a 12B Combat Engineer and that’s the straight truth. We do hella cleaning I didn’t join to be no janitor 💀😭
Yeah I’m a 13M HIMARS Operator, and I’m trying to go Green to Gold bc this shit sucks lol
@@slyden12himars are fucking beast, Russia can never overcome them😂
wait how can u quit in DEP? dont u sign ur contract and take ur oath at MEPS?
Don't sign anything, if you do, just don't ship
Well gee Ben as far I knew enlisted US Army recruiters and commissioned recruiting managers when you get to MEPS they tell you whether or not there's an opening at any given MOS code and let yah know that you don't have to sign a "TOE" enlistment contract if the job isn't currently available. They don't play games like the Marine Corps and have you sign the contract first and then BS you later on about job selections thay by there own admission can't be guaranteed. All that being said Ben don't let me or anyone else insult your I intelligence about bad mouthing military policies 😳
Will be joining the army at 32 years of age. I have a BA - so my question is, should I go enlisted or officer?
Officer for sure. You'll get double the pay
Extremely helpful!!
im in the process of joing the army . Army because i thought it was the only branch thatll ship me out 1,2 months after signing .. 5,6,12 months people actually wait dat long after signing?
Yes!
@@TheBenAllen. my recruiter says it usually takes 30-90 days

Going to fort Leonard wood for 88m for OSUT in January for national guard! I was wondering is there a chance for me to go full time in the guard?
ABC program?
What do you think about joining at 35
Also is it possible for me to go to airborne school if I didn’t pick it on my job site I picked choice of station istead of going airborne my recruiter told me I could at fort Lewis
MORE RAW
Bet!
I can’t take your experience for what it actually is when you have Pokémon toys in the background, no offense still respect you went for it ✊🏼
The recruiter should tell his recruits that the Army is not like Call of Duty.
Any info on CID?
I m 16 are you stuck in the reserves i m in canada
Wait are you still in?
No
Dope video, made me alot more comfortable going. Sounds somewhat like hell be doesn't seem to crazy bad. Testing next week 🤙
Why did you only do a yr and a half in the Reserve? Why not the normal 6 yrs?
I did 4 active and my Reserve contract was only 3 years but I was able to put a packet in to get out early.
“A pussy that’s getting paid “ lmao love the content bro
I know how people are it don’t change me from going
Can I bring my PS5 in the army
Yes at your unit
@@TheBenAllen. I'm your new subscriber now
I am that recruiter tho
Lol
Ok so I don't even know where to start with your video since there are so many things wrong with it. And again I do promise I am not trying to be mean, just firm.
Like first off you're in the ARMY, I mean, what do you expect it to be sunshine and roses? I mean you do whatever they need. It is not hard. You need to scrub toilets, guess what, your scrubbing toilets. I mean anything in the Army is better than the 3 common civilian jobs... (I think anyways) which are:
1.) Restaurant/Hospality
2.)Retail
3.) Office
You tend to scare off a LOT of people who want to join over Petty things as you say a lot "what they don't tell you is...".
Truth is it’s trash don’t be airborne
Think of it like dope, just say NO!
Ok cool
for some reason youtube keeps unsubbing me from
u wierd
"...and without further ado, let's get to it."
*really gets to it almost 2 minutes into the video, after an intro and asking for subscribers for the first of three or so times*
Thanks for the content, but I wish you'd keep things simpler, more concise, and to the point.
It’s all apart of the process man
2 mins really ain’t that deep. It’s part of the process and promotion they have to do as YT’s. If you have watched many other YT’s some don’t get into their content until almost 10 mins into the video. If your argument was towards that, it would be understandable but he did a great job at keeping the intro short in my opinion
