I can feel you melting as time goes by lol the brain-rot is taking hold! I did only watch through the whole vid because of your commentary, you made it bearable. Thanks for the hard work ^ ^
I’m only halfway through this so far (listening to it while I draw funnily enough), but this is easily the most hilarious reaction to this film I’ve seen. Your commitment to analysis over just breaking down and making fun of it is admirable lmao
I’ve got the worst headache after watching this with you, lol! It was definitely tough to sit through, but I learned a lot from both you and the film. It really shows the importance for writers to avoid letting personal messages come across as preachy, and the value of cutting scenes that might be personally meaningful to the writer but don’t ultimately serve the plot. I'd love to see you review/ give your insights of writing of the first episode of Avatar the Last Airbender in setting up your world, introducing characters, and starting the plot.
A Serious analysis of films with dubious quality is just what i needed in my Life, thank you very much, hope you do more in the future with other bad movies lol
Yeah this movie is certainly an…experience to say the least. I’m so sorry this won the poll 😆 Also, would you ever consider analyzing songs by Yaelokre? The artist created a fictional world called Meadowlark in which they take place, with different characters and deities Their songs are chalk full of metaphors and imagery and I’d love to hear what you make of the lyrics and storytelling
My little brother has been having a great time listening to you talk about story structure. He is obsessed with Cats, the musical. The old one on VHS. And he keeps talking about all the rules you establish, and how many Cats breaks lmao
I have never checked it out, but it’s on my list now! I am always fascinated by how stories play with rules. Writing rules are funny because they are both free to break and also exist there for a reason. But it’s so satisfying when something pulls it off well
@ my little brother would be thrilled to see a video about his favorite musical, (if you take laid requests, I’d definitely send you whatever youd feel to be fair for that) he thinks your analysis is the coolest thing since sliced bread, lol
@@madelinebogle7475I can at least commit to a few songs! Probably after I finish Hamilton. :) Would he be interested in an old vs new where I explore how the new Cats movie and old movie handle things differently (and why one is so hated) or just keeping things to the old movie? I also might have to work with animatics depending on how copyright claim is with the musical
@@JacobPenrodWrites He would love you to see act 1 and tell us what you think of it. He calls it a “fever dream”. Apparently it’s his favorite! And while 1998 is his favorite, he wouldn’t mind seeing comparisons between the two movies, if that’s something you think you’d find enjoyable :)
Im having a blast at the 12 minute mark. Im an hour in now. I laughed maniacally when you mentioned it being midnight there. The villain copying his monologue was horrendous. Feels like having a scene with the teacher in the school could have been good.
Ok I’m fisnished well thanks for the watch. Biggest issues I had narratively are the insane amount of redundant and conflicting back stories, it felt like he had the restart the project a few times and refused not to use the animations and performances he had already made. We needed a scene establishing the art teacher, and the students. Also more beatboxing dog less no sailor.
I have no evidence to support this, but it feels like this was meant to be a show with multiple episodes but at some point they realized that was unachievable. But they still had all this footage from different episodes already made so tried to splice it together into one movie.
i've never heard of that movie and 15 minutes into your video - i'm here for the ride and i honestly wanna stick with it for the whole thing just because this is so ridiculous
Oh god I had the biggest traumatic flashback… as awful as this movie is… beatboxing puppy is the greatest thing made in this lifetime. I felt my brain rotting from the story changes… just… what..
Some random guy in Colorado with a sick kid, watching this movie at midnight - who will be showing this video to his mother on her deathbed - has more establishment, narrative cohesion, character arc and internal consistency than the video he's watching. Tonal whiplash, the movie! It has more art degrees than you can even imagine
35:41 Genuinely what did she MEAN by this??? How are bodybuilders cheaters just because they're "unnatural'? They still put in WORK to look the way they do. This movie is going to be the end of me.

Decided to listen to this while working, and boy oh boy the movie is such a hard listen ajdudndjfjjfjdjjejdjfjf. Am gonna stay strong for the analysis and writing advice 😤
This video is so damn funny lmao Taking it seriously! I think the animation is pretty solid with the context of how it was made and the fact that it's an amateur work. It seems like a passion project in terms of the visual work, so I can at least appreciate that the themes of the artist's struggle and all that feel sincere because the animation is sincere. It's badly written and structured, but I do think the people involved should continue working to improve their craft. Also, a lot of the dialogue lines are weirdly well-delivered imo? Like, not fabulous or anything because the stuff they were given to work with was bad, but they did their best. Even the annoying wizard was like...well, that dude was playing to the part! I think people who are making fun of it would have been less put off and less mocking if the film took itself and them a little more seriously. No need to pad runtime with repeated scenes or three intros. If it were just the 20 minute mark onward with some tweaks, most of it would have been...still bad, but clearly a passion project and not a baffling disconnected series of words as everyone's first impression of the film. Feeling the need to pad the runtime and include utter nonsense makes it harder to take seriously or see as a work that has something to say. Hope your kid is feeling better!
I’ve been just having you on while I was tidying up just feeling the cringe and existential crisis with ya xD but it’s fun! Without knocking this and on the fear that I’m overstepping I’d like to make you a little list of what I would absolutely love to see your reaction and input on! You’ve already started with musicals so maybe Twisted, Hamilton and six. I would also be over the moon with some animated series like the amazing digital circus, vox Machina or helluva boss/hazbin hotel. I would understand if you wouldn’t want the community of the latter on your channel but I’d love to hear you weigh in as there’s a lot of split opinion on the writing.
I'm 15 minutes into this video, which is 2 minutes into the actual movie, and I'm trying. I'm trying so hard to treat this fairly and keep an open mind, but I'm also feeling /so/ incredibly upset by everything that's happening in this movie so far. Why did we get three different introductory monologues? Why did all of those monologues keep repeating the same exact points? Why did they abruptly change topics multiple times in each monologue? Why was the language used in said monologues so stilted and robotic? And /why/ am I still talking about the monologues? There shouldn't be /this/ much to say about them, especially not so much to *critique* right off the bat. edit: 21 minutes into this video now, a bit further into this movie, WHY IS THERE ANOTHER INTRO???? I'm gonna cry. I'm actually gonna cry, I don't know if I can do this.
