How to get rid of rat infestation: in car Engine bay

  • Note: Here's another video to show you an alternative method to prevent rats: • How to prevent rats fr... .
I got a rat in my car engine bay. It's a perfect place for the rats because it's safe from predators and it's warm especially in the winter months. Not only is this extremely dirty and sick, the rat can also eat up and destroy the electrical wires, rubber hoses, and belts in the engine bay. I'll show you how to remove the engine plastic cover (from a Toyota Sienna 2004-2010) to clean it and how to prevent the rats from coming back to the engine ever again.

Update: It has been over 1 month now and my engine is rat-free! It's spotlessly clean! Check this out: imgur.com/a/Sksxsdg
I've just "re-applied" the perfume today. It smells great! This is the first time I have to re-apply the perfume after 6 weeks. It still had a little bit of perfume smell to it after 6 weeks but the smell is getting pretty weak. Nothing better than a rat-free engine that smells like a flower shop!

Ah the 2GR-FE motor. A 5 star hotel for a rat. That v6 design has a perfect entrance on the left hand side and very cosy in between the two cylinder banks. My mums 2GR had all the injector wires eaten down to the electrical connectors! I hate rats!

Peppermint oil. Get some pure and mix with water in a spray bottle or rub some pure oil in places, no more pests. I do this up north where the mice, rats and red squirrels will chew your wiring to bits.

Today while driving home I found weird that I had vapor coming out of my hood, but since the weather is really cold I thought it was just the engine being to hot in contrast to the weather creating the vapor. Later on I stopped because I didn't see any other car doing it, not even cars of the same model as mine. I pulled over and I had 2 dead rats cooking in the engine.

We were going fishing about four of us in my buddies station wagon when it started to overheat on the highway. We pulled over and lifted the hood and the entire engine was covered with trash ,Grass and what looked like a million chicken bones. Here we figure it out our friend works at a trucking company any parks his car next to a fence and on the other side is the dumpster for KFC chicken. Here it seems in the colder weather the rats drag up the chicken bones that were thrown away and eat them on the warm engine. It was friggin disgusting .

Chewing tobacco works better than perfume. just sprinkle a little around where you see signs of the rats and leave the opened can with the lid put back on in the engine compartment either wedged in somehow or you can use wire to attach the can to something so it stays put.

    • @vuaeco

    • @WestcountyWill

Nope has nothing to do with nicotine. It works for the same reason the perfume works. They can't stand the smell of it. It also lasts way longer than perfume, especially if you leave the can in there. I and others I know have used Chewing Tobacco and it works long term.

nuthan cs this isn't necessary true. I've been in the car business my whole life, and directly, for the last 12 years. I've been a car fanatic, and take great pride in my vehicles. Just recently I ended up with a mouse/rat, getting onto my engine compartment, because it was warm and they like cozy houses. There's no food nearby, and I regularly detail my car inside and out, along with the engine compartment. I ended up having to spray something inside the engine compartment, and also use some fabric softener sheets, because they HATE them (especially the strong BOUNTY ones). Even if you keep you're car clean, they can still have go up in the engine area to stay warm.

Sticky trap might work. Just leave the rat in there and drive to work. By the time you drive back home after work, you get yourself some well cooked rats for dinner! :D... I'll keep you updated but as you can see in my green house, no more rats for at least 6 months now! Thing is, my car now smell like a flower shop from 10 meters away! I’m still using moth balls to repel rats infestation in my engines but it seems the rats have become immune to the odor of the moth balls. I need a new strategy. Any ideas?

MOTHBALLS HAVE A POISON IN THEM IT IS NOT GOOD FOR HUMANS TO BREATHE. FUMES GET INTO THE CAB OF THE CAR.

They could even get into the engine block..

I hope that perfume is not flammable,,,,and the fabric under your hood is fire insulation.....
Irish spring soap is the best deterrent,, or peppermint spray....

    • @catherinem421
      @catherinem421 4 роки тому

Maybe, but you'll need to bleach clean the car anyway. Rodents carry disease and other such nonsense.
Clean then prevent by using a strong smell like peppermint, Irish spring soap, cedar, etc..
