Hard-boiled eggs are a staple in my weekly meal prep! They are the perfect grab-n-go, protein-packed snack and can make many easy meals. I promise this is a no-fail technique that results in perfectly cooked hard-boiled eggs each and every time. Enjoy!
I use the Julia Child method - Put refrigerated eggs in pot with cold tap water, bring just to a boil then cover and remove from heat and let sit for desired time; 13-14 minutes for me.
@karenn993 I've used both ways. This way described is better for me and my family. My sister still uses the old way, and I forgot how hard they were to peel.
I will try some of your recipes out. I use a dash egg cooker. Easy peasy. I do use the ice water afterward. Can I use a Best foods mayonnaise recipe for deviled eggs using Chosen mayonnaise with avocado oil in its ingredients. I cook six eggs at a time. Then when I go to eat them for breakfast, I slice avocado into chunks and put on top of them along with some everything bagel seasoning. I eat 4 halves for three different breakfasts over the next 4 days or so. The best quick breakfasts.
Been watching here and there since 2007. Your consistency and focus is inspiring. Easily got my vote for best cooking show on UA-cam. Your videos are about health, time saving, easy to make, non-expensive meals. They are also straight to the point w/ great quality. Well done 👏
I love the methods you shared! I always add a hard boiled egg to my tuna salad, as my mother did. As far as cooking method, I usually add eggs to a pot of cold water, bring to a boil then cover and remove from heat for 17 minutes. Perfect every time.
I love hard boiled eggs so much! I loved the idea of slicing hard boiled eggs, plus cottage cheese, and some everything bagel seasoning on toast. One of my favorite ways to eat hard boiled eggs is what I refer to as “anti-deviled eggs”. It’s like deviled eggs, but even easier. Slice a hard-boiled egg, squeeze some aïoli or chipotle mayo (or another thickish sauce of your choice) on top of each half, and top with some bacon bits or broken-up pieces of bacon. So delicious!
I’ve used this method, the cold water method, new eggs & old eggs. And honestly the only method that has worked consistently for me re easily peeling is cooking them in the instant pot. Perfect every time.
Happy New Year! My favorite use of hard boiled eggs - Rye bread, smoked salmon, hard boiled eggs and sea salt! Thanks Dani - excellent video once again!
My husband LOVES deviled eggs, but when I was a young wife, I would get sooooo frustrated peeling them that at least half of them would just get smushed in my hand, shell and all because they weren't peeling smooth. I have since learned this method, but I put them in a steamer basket then in the boiling water for 15 mins, then put in the ice bath. I do find this works best for me when only doing 6 at a time. Love all these snack ideas and will definitely try the cottage cheese toast idea asap.
In home meck class we made Eggs Ala Goldenrod. Make a white sauce. Separate the yoke from white of the boiled eggs. Chop the whites and add to white sauce. Put over toast then sprinkle yolks on top.
The first tip is gold for me since I boil eggs every morning. Now I know the real reason that my eggs sometimes crack as soon as they're lowered into the water. I always thought that they must've had a small crack in them beforehand so I always obsessively examine and inspect each egg in the carton before I buy them. I never considered that it could be the sudden drastic temperature change of the eggs. Thanks so much for the knowledge!
Instant pot hard boiled eggs always peel also. 5-5-5 method. Put in pot on rack with 1 cup water. Set for 5 minutes. Then let sit in pot for another 5 minutes. Then ice bath for 5 minutes. 5-5-5
The Instant Pot is a NO FAIL method. I do mine 4-5-5. I might leave in the ice bath for 20 minutes or more. It needs the five but leaving longer doesn’t alter the texture or yumminess.
I found this video literally 5 minutes after throwing away a half dozen eggs that wouldn't peel. This worked perfectly. I am on the carnivore diet and use hard boiled eggs for a snack sometimes and this just saved me from wasting anymore eggs. Thank you for this.
Love love love you and have been following you for so long. THANK YOU for helping me learn how to create healthy and delicious recipes! God bless and Happy New Year! You’re a gem!
I like to whip my cottage cheese and add it to my egg salad instead of mayo or yogurt. I also add a mashed avocado for more flavor. Putting this on one piece of toast in the morning is my go to. Thanks Dani for this, especially for the New Year 🎊
I tried your method today. Worked great! The eggs literally jumped out of their shells at peeling time including the one I had stored in the fridge. Thanks.
I am going to do number 10. I have been looking for a different easy breakfast. I am so blessed to have found you. I am starting to review now all of the emails. Thank you so much for great information.
I am going to make the cottage cheese and hard boiled egg on toast option first! You are spot on saying that we need simplicity in eating healthier. Thank you for your videos; I really enjoy them.
Yes, thank you for simplicity! My husband just got put on a heart healthy diet, and it’s a lot of chopping and cooking that I’m not used to! I can incorporate these ideas … and I was a firm believer in waiting for the eggs to age which is unhandy.
I love eggs any way as long as the whites are fully cooked. I especially love a hard boiled egg as a simple snack. All your ideas are great! One of my favorite ways to do a deviled egg is Caesar Deviled Eggs! They last about 20 seconds at parties. Mix the yolks with 1/2 cup Caesar dressing & half cup of mayo. Pipe the yolk mixture into the egg whites. Garnish with a quarter-sized piece of romaine lettuce, a pinch of fancy shredded parmesan & a seasoned crouton. (Chef's kiss)
Thank you. I need to give this a try! Our favorite is to just eat the hard boiled egg or make egg salad. Occasionally we will slice or chop them then add to a green salad.
Thank you so much for the great tips for successful hard boiled eggs. I appreciate the recipe ideas too. I have been a fan of eggs and cottage cheese for a long time but never thought of combining it with hummus or avocado. Thanks again!
Another great and informative video, Dani! You've just made something I prepare all the time quicker and easier. Great ideas! Your assistant, Charlie, was fun to watch also.
I'm going to tell you how to make petfect hardboiled eggs. Put eggs in pot and bring to a boil. Cook on medium heat for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and peel when sightly cool. Don't put eggs in cold water after their cooked. You can run water over them when peeling to peel better. This makes perfect hardboiled eggs everytime. Sometimes when eggs don't peel good it the egg. I make sure to use fresh eggs. I buy the eastland eggs.
I steam my hard boiled eggs. Same process except only 1" water in the pot, bring to a full boil, put eggs in a steamer basket in the pot, cover and steam for 10 to 12 minutes depending on the size of the eggs. Then into an ice bath. This method eliminates cracked eggs since they are not moving around around in the pot.
I already eat a two egg cheese omelette with Irish Kerry Dubliner cheese every day. After watching this, I’m going on an egg for lunch daily routine. Your egg salad and the guacamole egg salad sound great. And these egg salads would work well with romaine or butter lettuce. I’ll experiment spices and dressings. Sorry but I don’t think I can add it to oatmeal. Thanks. Great ideas.
Really good video and I really liked the cooking time egg half photo. I boil eggs like you do sans ice, just cold water but maybe I should try the ice bath. TY.
Yumm!! I appreciate the recipes and tips!! My eggs are often difficult to peel to the point where some of the white part of the egg breaks off and sticks to the shell as I am trying to peel them and they look awful. I am going to follow your suggestions. Thanks so Much Dani!! Happy New Year!! 😊

Cold eggs and to cold water method here.I find that the eggs are always easy to peel just after cooking and cooling. But if they are refrigerated for several days, they are much more difficult to peel as the egg sticks to the shell. I pop my refrigerated hard boiled eggs into the microwave for 12 seconds to warm them up to draw them away from the shell.
I never take my eggs out in advance. I throw them in my Ninja Foodi on the pressure cook function for 4 mins, then a 4 min natural release and 5 mins in the ice water. I'm so happy to have found this video! I stocked up on eggs to pickle them but was procrastinating due to the usual peeling ordeal. Your method sounds perfect. Tip: A friend who ate HB eggs every day used a grease pencil to write the date on each so she would remember to eat them before they expire. She said 5 days was the max, however.
Do you start the timer from the moment you put the eggs in the boiling water? I find that the temperature of the eggs cools the water down some and it takes a minute or two for the boiling to start again, so I’m confused about the proper way to time. (However, I admit that I skipped your step about bringing the eggs to room temperature first. Maybe this would make my timing dilemma non existent.) Thank you, Dani! I’ve been a fan for years. 😊

Your eggs are ready and easily peeled.
Love all the tips!
I put mine in the instant pot for 5 minutes…best way for me so I can work on other things at the same time
Hi Danny very good ideas for eggs ❤❤❤ keep it up darling. I'm from Pakistan and you from.
Thank you!
Will the softer hard boiled eggs last as long in the fridge?
Yes!
@CleanandDeliciousDani Thank you so much! These will be a game-changer for healthy snacking. I made some soft ones around the 10 minute mark and they came out perfect. Thank you 🙌🙌🙌
You don’t have the recipes you said would be in the bottom description box or the cookbook.
