  • In this Episode we reveal what engine we will be using in the 1965 Comet Build. Did we stick with the ol 289 and C4 transmission combo or did we choose to go with the newer roller 5.0L and 5spd transmission? Watch the video to find out!

    Change the pilot bearing. You've already got it apart. A lot of these FI engines came with the fuel pump eccentric, weird, maybe they needed it to work with that style timing set? This is a great project, love it.

      @Theoldcarchannel.  3 роки тому +1

      The pilot bearing will be brought up in a future episode (all dependent on the trans situation *will make sense when the video comes out*).
      The 89 engine that's in the 65 fastback didn't have the eccentric, so I'm thinking this is/was just something ford did for a year or two of the transition between carb and fuel injected engines.

    I did one of these about 15 years ago. I ended up with a 347 stroked motor with a b & m 144 blower on it. It ran great, smoke the tires at will, and since I rebuilt everything, handled great. Some uninsured guy t boned me on the freeway, bent the frame and the unibody, and turned it into a parts car. I ended up using the motor trans in another 60 Falcon, and the rear and wheels on a 1924 Chrysler with a 671 supercharged early hemi. I am in the middle of a 1968 AMX at the moment. The 289 was a hell of a little engine in its day, no dispute there. And I'd rather have the 289 over a flat-tappet 302. But the roller 5.0 is the superior retrofit. The torque and power output of a carbureted roller 5.0 is similar to that of an early 351W.
