    I used to put 15w oil in, and idk if it leaks or dried out, but it did pretty fast. Then I put 80W gear oil, and now it's doing what's called a fork suck down. So I'd recommend sticking to a lower weight oil.

      gear oil and lithium grease can damage your seals and O-ring... for all suspension is recommended fork oil and silicone grease... I use Motorex Fork oil and RSP slick-kick grease but next year i will using RSP fork oil in my all suspension and for servicing all suspension

      Lithium products may contain petrochemical products which can damage NBR o rings. That's why suntour suggest silicon grease. 80W synthetic is safe on these forks

    How do you solve air leak on the Triair shock? I replaced the valve stems and still have a major source of leakage somewhere. It's holds air at a stop but once under load and riding it deflates rather quickly. I am not sure what to do next.

    • @jasper8928
      @jasper8928 3 роки тому

      My fork does this too, did you find a solution?

    • @jimig399
      @jimig399 3 роки тому +1

      @@jasper8928 yeah I found the problem. I had a very small pin hole in the air can sleeve. I've tried plugging it with JB weld steel stick and epoxy but both only work for a while and eventually leak again. Every time I try to get a replacement air can from Suntour it's out of stock. It's been out of stock since Covid began. I went ahead and bought a Rockshox piggy back and a DNM coil over. Neither of them compare to the smooth action of the TriAir but hopefully Suntour will come thru with a new aircan for my shock or an entirely new shock. As for a fork that is leaking air it can only be a couple things. It's either the seals or the air piston or the valve stems. Fill it with air and put it under soapy water like you would a tire tube and your leak will reveal itself to you. Good luck. 🙋

      This means you have a damaged o-ring. You need to disassemble the fork and replace damaged seal. It will most likely be cracked or not round in few places.

    This is kludge to work around poor air seals in Suntour forks.Shame on Suntour for even suggesting it. Real solution would be to manufacture better seals

  • @Hawlkeye-e9p
    @Hawlkeye-e9p 8 років тому

    epic fail on the gear lube, suspension forks need special anti friction modifiers to function properly.
    i would advise fox gold
    what happens is you have more stiction with oils not made for suspension forks.
    you maybe able to use fox float fluid.
