Yay for Texas. We can carry anything, a samurai sword if we so choose.
Jake From State Farm I know. Finally got them laws fixed. No more 5.5 inch crap
Jake From State Farm I know it's great isn't it!! 😁
Arizonas great on carrying pretty much anything as well.
here in Indiana, we can't carry ballistic knives (a knife gun). We're so oppressed :(
Everything else goes though :D :D
BirdShot IV good one!! Cool channel by the way! 👍
I have carried this exact model for 2 years every day.
Missfire - Mine does the same thing. It started after less than a year, but that is too short for that kind of problem. When you consider I deploy the blade 4-5 times a week, its a little sillier.
Cold - Hasn't been a problem even with record lows in my area.
Speed - I have cheap flippers that deploy faster (I think they all do). The only reason I use mine as EDC is because my state recently changed the law to where we could carry them.
Then there's London, where the mayor plans to make it illegal to carry ANY knives, and make them very difficult to even purchase, as I understand it.
'There is never a reason to carry a knife' was his actual quote :/
Great
The Mayor of London is a prat. Next he's going to ban illegal drug carrying, being the member of a gang, and anyone saying or doing anything he doesn't like! The police have been restricted on stop and search in the past by guess who.................... the Mayor of London and his cronies. The police have said that all these murders and attacks, using knives, guns and chemicals, are all gang related and that they know who a lot of gang members are. But the idiot London elected thinks that irrelevant. Better to stop the law abiding 99% having a pocket knife and ignore the reality that criminals don't actually obey the law, or left wing pc loony politicians who make showboating nonsensical statements. Sorry, rant over!
BirdShot IV And, because he can probably get that into a law, criminals everywhere will be quaking... We all know that a law will prevent criminal behavior....
He can't change the law but he can lobby his political party's MP's. And their shadow Home Secretary is none other than Diane "can't do mental arithmetic" Abbot, known for her unique views on most things. Rudd, the current Home Secretary, and another show boater won't want to miss the chance to try and upstage Khan and his mates. And she just loves banning things and then saying 'look I've solved it". Khan is taking off the political shackles a bit on stop and search by the police. See how long it last once some enraged "community leaders' start shouting about "targeted profiling".
I got mine off Wish in 5 days via DHL. Looks the same but didn’t have the automatic knife sticker on the side of box and the paperwork didn’t have that model or say automatic knife anywhere in it. Had the flag on knife, Kershaw laser engraved and Auto Kershaw and 7200BLKST on other sider. Excellent lockup, snappy spring, and zero blade slop. Paid $27 plus $12 shipping. Reversible strong pocket clip. Very happy. Razor sharp.
Mine does that too. You have to get off the switch quick for it to lock
My girlfriend gave me this knife for Christmas 2 or 3 years ago. I've carried nearly everyday and have never had a lock up failure. It's kept a great edge and continues to fire consistently. I really like the the light weight and ability to open quickly.
Honestly, as a service member, these "you can carry it if you're military or a LEO" laws seem so shady. I feel like if I was found to be carrying an auto and tried to show my I.D they'd just laugh at me
laws dont really apply to cops they dotn even know knife laws most of the time they know some basic stuff, but the law of what you can or cant carry only matters if you go to court with a weapons charge...thats when you can justify having it or cant...
Man I like this knife. Can't decide between the Launch 2 or Launch 3.
I've owned and carried the launch 6 for about 2.5 or 3 years now, has been a pretty darn good knife, but it also had the issue of the slight bounce back of the blade and not locking at times, it only started doing it after I made it more free moving by "tuning" it up, and yes it can get to bugging a guy when it does it, the fix is just tighten up the pivot screw untill there is noticable drag when closing the blade, not too much but just a tad of drag, you will just have to play with it untill you get it to just that right point, after doing it that way on mine it pretty much never does the not lock thing and still deploys just fine.
Autos make me so sad to live in Canada :(
U-Haul time, good buddy.
CO45422 haha, maybe someday. Here we can't carry and conceal as well. We basically can't defend ourselves, legally that is.
Come on down to 'merica. We need reinforcements. What else is there besides smooth French Canadian women, good food, drink, the fight, and automatic knives?
Conceivably autoknife.com will post you one. It's entirely up to you.
Ian P the chances are it would get seized by customs and confiscated. I suppose I could give it shot but there would be a good chance I would lose my money.
How much play is in the micro tech??i know my Kershaw has absolutely no play and is very solid
I have the launch 3 and it does the same thing if you hold it to tight! It'll lock up every time if you hold it just right. Gotta play with it for a while to get the feel for it! 😁
The locking issue is one reason I do not use folding knives for self defense. Only fixed blades for me. preferably a blade that is at least 7 inches long.
I have the same knife in red, I never had a lockup issue out of the box. Once I took it apart to clean and oil it, it did tend to behave like this one. But if your quick with the button it's not an issue for me. Great video btw more auto videos please !
2:09 love the assault style finger quotes 😂
I have one of these and love it, but it stays at my desk because if you keep this knife in your pocket with any other objects, there is a good chance it will open on you. I had my keys push the button enough to open it in my pocket and realized it once it was digging into my groin. Great knife, but this is one auto where I wish there was a safety.
Yes in Illinois if you have auto knife you can carry only if you a void card gun card but the chance of a cop giving you a problem about a knife is slim unless your committing a crime.
I own this knife, have no issues with her...i guess im just lucky, i love it
Have you ever had any issues ordering these mid range knives from amazon? Like getting fakes or ones that are junky?
Its funny you mention your food/cc license. In Illinois you can now carry autos. But to do so legally you must have a food card...
I am really thinking about picking up the launch 4 (i think, its the smaller one) but I also really like the launch 4 in purple. I normally don't like purple things but the color of this purple is amazing.
Mine has the exact same problem out of the box. Greetings!
I’d recommend a launch 1 over any other launch knife any day simply because the blade design and overall design of the knife
And also aluminum scales don’t bother me when they get cold it actually feels cool to me when it’s cold maybe I’m just weird
I gave mine to my father because of the exact same problem. He didn't mind but it really bothered me.
I think my Florida CCP covers all weapons. I like to edc my balisongs and autos. They are like fidget spinners for adults.
It looks cool but I don't see much advantage over an assisted opening knife especially considering the legal issues.
The launches in BHQs video backfired like that
I'm in PA, obviously by my name. I really wish automatics were legal in PA, but I'll take carrying a gun over carrying an automatic knife any day. I'd still prefer both though.
I recently picked up the launch 4 in a trade and i love it! its the perfect little box cutter for me at work when im around customers and such (i just hold it out of sight when i open it and nobody notices its an auto but its legal here so oh well). Ive never had any lock up issues but with such a tiny blade i would imagine you get better life out of the spring.
Maryland laws for autos are you just can’t conceal them, unless you have a gun permit then you can carry whatever you want concealed lol always been surprised PA isn’t like that.
How do you even open carry a pocket knife...ss
My Gerber Downrange does this. The best way to lose a finger. Thanks Gerber.
I have a recently acquired Launch 4 that exhibits the same problem
I've never had or held any of the Launch series knives, but looking at the pivot point, I have a suggestion. Can you adjust the friction of the pivot by tightening or loosening the pivot screw? I adjusted the pivot screws on my Benchmade Griptilian and Mini Griptilian knives to my liking and am wondering if you tighten the pivot screw on the Launch just a tiny bit if that would provide enough friction to eliminate the bounce back that causes the blade to not lock up. I know the Griptilian is a different animal, just wondering if you can adjust the pivot screw the same way.
Hey Jeff, I am fortunate to have a sample of the Launch 2 that locks up every time. Do you still have yours? Has the knife been broken in, and is it locking reliably now?
I've found that from a 1000-1200 position, mine opens correctly every time. Past 0900/0300 it's iffy...
It has to break in Jeff !
I have a protech that wants to jump put of your hand when you push the button
Are assisted open knives legal in PA? Because assisted open can be just as fast as an "automatic" knife but they are legal in more places to my understanding
donovan stagg, assisted knives are legal in PA automatics are not, you are aloud to own a automatic but you can’t take it out in public. Stupid I know but that’s the law.
assisted knives are not automatic knives they were invented specifically to go around the laws for autos as far as I know they are legal in every state...
No
Do a auto vs flipper speed test. I have flippers as fast a autos.
Lookinformemarbles if you want fast, get a wave open knife. Makes them all look slow.
fixed blade wins that one ;)
AirSoftMaverick3232 lol, yup!
Lookinformemarbles that's not really a good comparison. A flipper is based mostly on hand pressure. So a stronger or faster flick from the finger, the faster it opens. With an auto knife it will open the same speed every time no matter how much harder you press the button.
I have a fixed blade that can nearly beat either of them. Nearly. The user is a little slow. 😆
Was late to the game and can’t find the 2 or 3 oh well
Cool design
Cool knife Jeff 😎👍😎
Yeah that would bug me to, hey Jeff love your videos, Clinton in Ohio.
I have a launch 2 and it is my favorite edc. I have never had the problem with it bavking up and not locking. Maybe the person who had yours before played with it religiously. My next in line is the launch 8!
Hey Jeff. I have a spyderco tenacious and it will not sharpen. Any tips?
I never had that issue with mine
I have the launch 2 but I like the 1 better I had the 1 but my brouther wanted to trade me his 2 for the 1 so I did .its no big deal. I do like the 2 .one day I will get me the 1 .
Good ole USA Quality
dude where the hell do you get Kershaw knives that come in boxes? every single one I've bought has come in a package.
EisMann you have to buy their higher end knives to get them in boxes
actually its more of a retail thing if you order from online dealers like bladeHQ they usually come in boxes since they are stored in a backroom in boxes...if they were packed to be sold at a store they are in plastic so they are displayed...the same knives can come in either or depending on price...
My launch 5 was like that brand new. But it only does it maybe 5 out of a hundred times mainly my fault
I had at least one of each of the knives in Kershaws Launch series. Every one except the small Launch 4 had this button lock misfire/lock up issue. I'm really not a fan of the Launch series because their not safe, can be potentially dangerous to use. As far as auto knives go, for me it's Protech all the way.
Do you like it .
Literally just got a launch 5 today
cpm154 isnt the same as 154cm jeff
Getting this soon.
Yes gonna carry it to work.
Ik im well within my rights to own it.
No knife laws here, you could carry a machete in your pants if you wanted.
Hugh Janus Same here, Idaho fucking rocks!
How are your gun laws? New Hampshire has constitutional carry, no licences, permits, no begging.
NH here too
リライト Nice Manchester area here.
Can you get an advanced carry permit?
Jared Rablin Pennsylvania doesn't have an advanced permit. There are not many states that even have advanced permits.
it is made in china 100% and with D2 blade 106RMB
iwould send it back im sure there not cheep
4e_ That's not cheap
eric leclerc he got it in a trade
How about Ohio CCW? Does it allow automatic knives?
I have one but stopped carrying auto knives because I don't think they are reliable no matter how much they cost. It's mechsnical and it's prone to break.
To bad it's not legal in NJ.
Nickster99 XD everything's illegal in New Jersey.
itscold no, stun guns are now legal.
be glad your not in london
Too bad you live in NJ, move.
I have a few autos and can't carry them because I live in CA but when I was in the Army it was fine wtf I guess I''ll get some use out of them when the zombies come lol
Glad i saw that misfire jeff t.y.
They let us have these toys in Florida
Crazy. You should move
Looks neat, makes me dislike New York even more.
Knife laws are dumb.
