  • The Nikon P7800 is such an interesting camera. its ticks a lot of boxes; versatile zoom range, fast aperture, fully articulating screen, mic input, image stabilization, hot shoe, and EVF.
The small 1/1.7 inch sensor is tried and true and can make some really nice images even in low light. I will this camera through the fire and report back on the results.

I use my old P7700 almost weekly :-) even more than my Sony RX100v. Main is a Canon R7(love it) But I still love the old P7700, it's ergonomic and gives great IQ

I like to collect these older cams and sell them also after I enjoy them on my ebay store. Just sold a Canon G12 that I enjoyed but now I am eyeing a Nikon P7100 or this P7800. Only thing stopping me from P7800 is a few issues Ive read about that the mode dial goes haywire.

Same here. I like to experiment. I have some cameras that I won't sell for professional use and personal vibes but others are for experimental use and to challenge myself.
The P7800 does have that issue with the back scroll dial. Its a bit fiddly but I'm working with it.

Preciate the share. I like this model. You have great finds. Are you able to get decent bursts out of her? Maybe 3 frames a second without it locking up too long in between? The reason I ask is because I had the P7100 and that was the deal breaker for me. How is that black and white mode treating you?

I actually haven't tried burst but I will and report back. The black and white is pretty good. Very pleased with it. I shoot these small sensor finds like film cameras. ISO 100-800 and fire away.

What kind of tape you use for your blackout? It almost looks like electrical tape?

Can you do double exposure with it?

      I don't think so unfortunately

No, it's digital. You can stack images in post production though which is pretty much the same

My P7100 is as good, I have it in my pocket all the time, it;s almost as good as my DSLR and muxh easier to carry, It's ideal for travelling The 7800 has a much more adjustable LCD screen, you canmake it visible from the front and the video is (I think) 4K instead of 720
The P7100 protects the lens when it's closed, the P7800 needs a lens cap

Thanks for watching. Its a fantastic camera line. The 7800 only has 1080p but the has a mic input which is so clutch. I found a 40.5mm UV filter that I leave on as the lens cover now.

I love p7100 design more than p7800. P7800 screen a bit ugly although it have more functionality & also bump on viewfinder also ugly

Another toy Jason? If I had your money I would throw mine away. This thing about “oldie but goodie” reminds me of my mother-in-law, but let’s not go there🤣. Nikon always made good products, I still have my FM-2N from years ago and it works great (I still shoot film sometimes). Maybe you mentioned it and I missed it, what type of memory card does the P7800 use?

Lmaoo. That's hilarious! Gotta love mother in laws. I don't think you mentioned it. My Dad has an old Nikon film that he's looking around the house for. The P7800 takes SD cards.
I'm taking it to North Carolina for the holidays and putting it to the test.
