We leave next month and just decided to leave behind both vehicles for a few of these reasons. The price of winter tires too & top of all other expenses.
For those who want to buy a car days before returning to the US.... DON'T! I am not sure of the time required but, buy the car at least 60 days before you ship it back to the US. The reason is... if the vehicle does not have the time required or mileage to meet the US importation tax time frame as a used vehicle, you will have to pay US importation tax on the full value of the vehicle.
I love Portugal... When I retire I want to immigrate to the Porto area. I don't think I would take my F150 with .. it's older (05) and has over 200k miles.
I'm seriously considering doing all of these steps with Bavaria Motor Cars, but I'm concerned that the SUV I want may be to big. I am considering the X5 50e, (hybrid) so we can save on gas, but will the X5 have issues with getting around off base, due to being bigger?
X5 is a lil bigger, but you do see them out here quite often. I have an X1 which fits perfect in tight parking downtown. Maybe speak with one of the local reps about size options. The X3 might be a better compromise for you.
Do you have orders to come to Germany? If so, use them to try to get out of your lease agreement early, then look at pre-ordering a BMW so that it's ready for you when you arrive.
A comment for #3....BMW USA told me that the warranty for my BMW is NOT valid in Germany. Yeah, talk about disappointment. Wanted to bring my car to its birthplace.
But i think you can also make a ton of money when the amry ships your car over the pond for free. If you have a proper american car or truck that isn´t officially sold in europe. When you bring it here, drive it, and sell it at the end of your deployment. Since there is a marked for importet american vehicles, but because they are rare and importing them is big and costly hustle, price is usually double that what you pay in the us.
I think you’re asking what does your bank have to do with your car? 🤔 If you got a loan through a bank for your car, you need to check with the bank before you just ship it overseas
@@brolyb918 Yep. Contact any Bavarian Motor Cars sales agent online to get started with the Camaro, and send your hubby's car to the closest VPC. I break down each of these steps here: www.dtvdanieltelevision.com/2019/11/04/pcs-to-germany-welcome-to-grafenwoehr-checklist-shipping-a-car-overseas/

@ buying an inexpensive car once we get there.

6. Your vehicle can be damaged while being shipped. True story!

You definitely don't want to drive that thing on European streets bro, specially in southern Europe 😅😂
Umm I just bought a Tucson hybrid a year ago, not sure what to do…

Unfortunately I have a one year old Hyundai Tucson hybrid… not sure what to do
@@luis2flr they are sold over here at regular dealerships, so no one will pay a premium for an american one.
What has your bank to say about your car?
