My suggestion, know the laws, don’t stop cars and then look for a violation and remember, you need probable cause to stop a vehicle. And relax. Not every infraction deserves a TS. You’d have to do something really stupid or there had to be a real threat to the public to get me to stop you. Especially in the snow. When it’s cold outside. And warm in my car. Just sayin’.
Mike Workman um hell no cops pull people day or night, cold or warm. They don’t pick and choose who they pull over. They could lose their jobs if they don’t pull over someone, even if it’s a minor crime like reckless driving, it could be a danger, it’s a public safety matter. Tossing it around like a weaving over the roadway or failure to maintain lane is not only ignorant, but shows the lack of restraint and responsibility on the behalf of the officer. Officer discretion is what I’m referring too. If you drive through a yellow light, that’s not a big deal. Roll through a stop sign at an empty intersection, meh... close. Blow through one, yes. You’re getting stopped, no matter the conditions. As I said, I was a REAL cop for 10 years. And a Sergeant to boot. Pretty sure I know what I’m talking about. 🙂

Valerio Pucci No big deal. I don't expect you or anybody on DOJ to be perfect. You're RPing the best you can as what is considered a very difficult real-world job and sometimes it just doesn't go well. From a viewers point of view, part of the fun of watching DOJ is seeing how LEOs react to any situation and how well they handle it. In my opinion, this stop wasn't handled well, but it isn't worth taking my opinion personally. If you feel there were mistakes that can be improved, you can learn from that, or if you don't feel anything was done wrong, that's OK, too.
Stop trying to make excuses for your fuckup. He was not reckless driving he went over a spot that he slid down not intending to do so while offroading. JBtheExplorer what you do not understand stand it's not one mistake is a bunch that keep happening. It ruins their videos and what they are trying to do. This is a Rp game that they are supposed to follow real laws and the laws of doj servers. There is also a command system in doj. Once you reach a certain level and become police or even other positions you should know the laws and rules but it seems like way to many do not. You can hear it in their voices and by the things they say that they are getting very frustrated at this point. Take the off-roading stop on Buggs. It should have take. 3 to 5 minutes tops at the most he could have been cited with a minor infraction of trespassing when he slid onto the road because it was not criminal. No just cause to stop Buggs, and when he found that out, instead of saying sorry for wasting his time and letting him go, he proceeds to keep Buggs detained so he can search for something- anything Buggs might've done wrong just to he could give him a ticket for it. Actually the fix it ticket. it would never be 24 hours. Fix it ticket would have to give you reasonable amount of time to actually get it fixed. which 24 hours is NOT a reasonable amount of time. Plus, you would have to go to court anyways with fix it ticket saying your truck is fixed or not. So they would have to give you at least 3+ days with a Court appearance to have officer or Judge sign off on it.

So...real world, this would be a violation of search and seizure law. Unlawful traffic stop. A real person would sue the hell out of that department for violating the constitution. When police stop a vehicle, it is considered a seizure for Fourth Amendment purposes. And for a vehicle stop to be justified, the initial stop must have been lawful. In most situations, the legality of a traffic stop turns on whether police had reasonable suspicion to believe the driver broke the law. Well, it is a roleplay not a "roleplay as a civ and follow all the rules but if your a cop do whatever you want". There should be repercussions if you mess up, there are if your a civ but if your a cop you never see them being applied.

In real life, if the cops are pulling people over that are not breaking laws that is illegal faxity. Yes, this is a role-playing server faxity but DOJ officers have to follow the same laws that real cops do. Buggs and Polecat were doing a civ video, not a criminal one. I am pretty sure Air1 got a good talking to after the end of the day it's just like the video where the cops went to buggs house and into the garage and found the stolen car. They did not have a warrant or probable cause to even search the house so they had to 10-22 and call it a giant rp fail and Ryan S said all of that would be taken care of at the end of the day and they would be talked too. DOJ has rules everyone has to follow.

you understand they were not breaking the law right. You do not need a highway vehicle sticker to offroad as long as the vehicle is registered. " in California vehicles must be registered, either with a street-legal registration or an off-highway vehicle registration to be on public lands. So as long as the vehicle is registered you can off-road. most OHV's are ATV's and Dirt Bikes. but as long as the vehicle is registered like trucks and such you can be off-road unless marked otherwise. in many National Forests, some "maintained" dirt roads require street-legal registration and a license. Their vehicles were street legal, registered and they both had valid licenses so they were not breaking the law. Where they were traveling is what was considered an open area and open Areas are open to all vehicle travel, including cross-country travel. now If they were in say a National Forest or something that would be a different story and it would depend on what the government allowed.
Cops in real life WOULD NOT pull you over for that. For LEGAL offroading? Also, a real life police air unit would not just stalk a law abiding citizen. No, you would not get pulled over. In addition, real life cops know the areas they patrol and know what is and what isn't off limits and where you can and can't be as far as trespassing goes.

No just cause to stop Buggs, and when he found that out, instead of saying sorry for wasting his time and letting him go, he proceeds to keep Buggs detained so he can search for something- anything Buggs might've done wrong just to he could give him a ticket for it. Imagine power tripping in a video game. Embarrassing.

Actually the fix it ticket. it would never be 24 hours. Fix it ticket would have to give you reasonable amount of time to actually get it fixed. which 24 hours is NOT a reasonable amount of time. Plus, you would have to go to court anyways with fix it ticket saying your truck is fixed or not. So they would have to give you at least 3+ days with a Court appearance to have officer or Judge sign off on it.

So...real world, this would be a violation of search and seizure law. Unlawful traffic stop. A real person would sue the hell out of that department for violating the constitution.
When police stop a vehicle, it is considered a seizure for Fourth Amendment purposes. And for a vehicle stop to be justified, the initial stop must have been lawful. In most situations, the legality of a traffic stop turns on whether police had reasonable suspicion to believe the driver broke the law.
But hey, I guess this is what happens when ignorant citizens pretend to be cops. Yet the same idiots will claim to know the law on a real traffic stop. (Don't even get me going on use of force/justified use of deadly force)

Well, it is a roleplay not a "roleplay as a civ and follow all the rules but if your a cop do whatever you want". There should be repercussions if you mess up, there are if your a civ but if your a cop you never see them being applied.

These cops are getting ridiculous with the stalking and pulling civs over for anything and everything. It's basically coming down to they can tell who the civs are and they're going to pull them over for any and every reason just to have some interaction.
Cody Pankey it is exactly that will happen in real life this is a role-play server everyone wants to have fun there for if you break the law where if you commit a crime or if you come close to Breaking the Law the police officer has something called probable cause to pull you over in this RP server so everyone wants to have fun and it is roleplay so don't get mad that the police officers in the game are rping that's what the role play stands for
In real life, if the cops are pulling people over that are not breaking laws that is illegal faxity. Yes, this is a role-playing server faxity but DOJ officers have to follow the same laws that real cops do. Buggs and Polecat were doing a civ video, not a criminal one. I am pretty sure Air1 got a good talking to after the end of the day it's just like the video where the cops went to buggs house and into the garage and found the stolen car. They did not have a warrant or probable cause to even search the house so they had to 10-22 and call it a giant rp fail and Ryan S said all of that would be taken care of at the end of the day and they would be talked too. DOJ has rules everyone has to follow.

you understand they were not breaking the law right. You do not need a highway vehicle sticker to offroad as long as the vehicle is registered. " in California vehicles must be registered, either with a street-legal registration or an off-highway vehicle registration to be on public lands. So as long as the vehicle is registered you can off-road. most OHV's are ATV's and Dirt Bikes. but as long as the vehicle is registered like trucks and such you can be off-road unless marked otherwise. in many National Forests, some "maintained" dirt roads require street-legal registration and a license. Their vehicles were street legal, registered and they both had valid licenses so they were not breaking the law. Where they were traveling is what was considered an open area and open Areas are open to all vehicle travel, including cross-country travel. now If they were in say a National Forest or something that would be a different story and it would depend on what the government allowed.
Cops in real life WOULD NOT pull you over for that. For LEGAL offroading? Also, a real life police air unit would not just stalk a law abiding citizen. No, you would not get pulled over. In addition, real life cops know the areas they patrol and know what is and what isn't off limits and where you can and can't be as far as trespassing goes.
