Let's be honest, a lot of games recently have been ruined by woke politics. The Witcher 4 does not seem to be like that in my opinion but I understand why people are overly skeptical.
people calling it woke because they don't like how Ciri looks are just clowns.. Ciri looks great and her looks are close to The Witcher 3. And we don't know what happened between TW3 and TW4. Maybe she is just 10 years older. But whatever she looks great in the trailer. that being sad I think the trailer was good but the TW3 trailer was much better and will be always be much more iconic.. but idc about trailer I think TW4 gameplay wise could be better than TW3. Cyberpunk 2077 is a masterpiece right now after the terrible release. CDPR know how to write stories and I'm sure they will do great once again. Will not preorder but I'm more hyped about TW4 than about GTA 6.
CDPR has already stated this game was designed for "modern audiences" they are directly telling us they will be woke. Plus there is the Sweet Baby Inc element discovered at CDPR. Don't forget CDPR is already banning players from the Steam forums voicing even the tiniest critique of the trailer. In addition, the devs making Witcher 4 aren't the same devs making Witcher 4 due to a lot of turn over. Lastly, did you not forget the disastrous release of Cyberpunk. We have evidence all around pointing to the direction this game will take, your ingornance is not an excuse.
Goddamn... By "modern audiences" they mean people who haven't played the older games. Also, define "criticisms" of the trailer. Because, if the criticism is "oh, you're going WOKE. Look, you made a FEMALE witcher... WOOOOOOKE" then, yeah, ban them.
@@magikarp2063 Witcher 3 was published what, 10 years ago? These games are for people at least, what, 16 yo, right? So a 16yo NOW was SIX when the last game was launched. Let's assume the Witcher 4 is released in 2026... That would mean that a 16yo would've been FOUR when the last game was launched. When the last game was published, playstation 4 was still a new console. How many games YOU played, as a 16yo, that were launched when you were an infant? Not many, I assume. So, if you want to attract YOUNGER audiences, having a new game that doesn't require that you remember what happened before in the series, while providing a rich experience for long time fans, is important. That's the point. Every "gamer" had to play their first game at some point. Also, many of the people complaining haven't played the first two games of the series... Btw, by "modern audiences" they also mean that the game should reflect what gamers expect to see in the games now. From loading times, graphical fidelity, frame rate, field of view options, interactivity with the environment, quality of life improvements, etc. But, sure, if you think that "modern audiences" for a gaming company means "non gamers", then I have no idea what to tell you...
I thought, the "best" ending (ie: the hardest to get) is when Ciri becomes Empress, not a Witcher (that's the middle option), death being the 3rd. And yeah if the Only reason is Ciri being a woman qualifies it as woke then it is a feeble argument, although we are seeing recently in TV shows, movies, games that the leading roles are predominantly women so there is an agenda, so I understand why people are saying that. Also yeah, considering the story in the Witcher 3, it makes sense to have Ciri as the lead in the next installment, so no complaints here.
Not only did that happen to The Witcher 4, but also to Intergalactic Naughty Dog With just one trailer they already start throwing all kinds of things at them
I don't agreee with it, but I understand it. It's like the tale of the boy who cried wolf. Game after game we have witnessed the "uglification" on women protagonists and girlbosses. Now we can't not expect it to be the case when we see a female protagonist. Changes little, as the game will be judged by the gameplay, and if it is good everyone will forget this. Just like how everyone forgot the initial uproar about black Targaryens when HotD came out and was good.
So look, I'll admit when I first saw the trailer, I thought the story and Ciri's appearance both gave off a heavy woke vibe. I wasn't convinced one way or the other though because there was nothing damning in the trailer, just some suspicion aroused from relatively minor choices. There's no reason to realistically expect Witcher 4 to be woke, particularly since it comes from Poland, the 'anti-woke' country. So personally I am suspicious for the minor reasons I mentioned but I have very little expectation that Witcher 4 will go woke. I did however think the trailer looked worse or at least on-par with Witcher 3's in-engine graphics, so that point stands imo. I don't see any reason to start a big debate from either people complaining it's going woke or people complaining that everyone is upset about it. Either way we will get whatever choice the devs have already decided on. It's likely too late for change, people will almost certainly hate it if it has gone woke and no amount of complaining can fix the state the game is in by release. I'll stress again: there's no reason to realistically expect that Witcher 4 has gone woke. Move on with your day.
Dude i never played the witcher and i dont know nothing about it but the only thing i heard about that may be the reason for the controversy is someting about that the witchers (those who hunt down the monsters) can only be guys not gals due to biological problems or someting like that so if they just brake their lore with no good explanation then yeah i guess the controversy makes sense but again i dont know bearly nothing about it so you tell me
So since you don't know. There is a process where only certain men , not even all men, most die, go through a transformation to become a Witcher. No women have ever lived, and Ciri is no exception,. she cannot live through the process to become a true Witcher, but she has a rare Elvin blood that makes her, way more powerful than even trained Witches or Witcher's, so Geralt trained her, to be a Witcher. SHE IS THE ONLY WOMAN WITCHER THERE IS. she can travel through time and space. she has been through different times on Earth and different planets. she can crack the earth, she can use trees and plants as a weapon, she can teleport in a fight so she can fight like The Flash, but with a sword, and above all that she is a true Princess, Princess Cirila Fiona. just an FYI Witcher 3 has been game of the year for like three years running and it is always at the top for open world FPS. if you are a gamer it is definitely worth a play and, it also has 3-4 endings depending on choices through the game.
Also, even IF Ciri simply was the first woman to survive the grass trials... So what? Geralt lifted curses that were supposedly impossible to lift. In the first game, you have a side mission where you can cure lycanthropy with true love. Geralt received a sword from a goddess... TWICE. The SAME sword, from the SAME goddess. In the second game, one of the possible endings is Geralt killing a dragon, yet the lore of the books is pretty clear Geralt is completely against it. In the lore, Geralt also HATES beards. He would NEVER have a long bear. Yet, in the Witcher 3 you START the game with a beard. Nobody screamed about that...
I mostly hope the game is not as unoriginal as the trailer. Villagers sacrifice maiden to monster (dragon, giant, etc.). Hero rescues maiden. Villagers kill maiden anyway. Been done before many times.
I feel like they had ruined it because Ciri can’t be a Witcher and there was no female witchers, especially since a story writer for spider man 2 and miles morales came on board for cyberpunk Orion, also she was already powerful and great on her own, you didn’t need to make her a Witcher since a full grown person can’t become one that’s why children are chosen, also I miss her Witcher 3 design the new one doesn’t make sense for me, also I don’t like the new game by naughty dog especially since I don’t see anything that differences itself from flops like dustborn, concord and the kill the justice league game
Goddamn... Stop whining. She's older in this game. That's it. She's no longer a 20ish girl, she's an experienced Witcher. And, yes, female witchers are definitely rare, and outright forbidden by some Witcher schools. However, according to the Witcher wiki, there ARE a few. Even some named ones, like Dragonfly. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Witcher 3 have a quest, in the main story, where we made Uma pass the trial of the grasses? You know, the trial that mutated witchers and killed most. Uma was not a baby. It was a cursed elf. An OLD elf. So, yeah, that also wouldn't be a problem...
@ one thing is that an elf is different from the rest, Ciri as an older woman wouldn’t survive the trial to become a Witcher cause children are the only ones that can survive it, making her a Witcher doesn’t make sense since she’s got powers that are already powerful without her even being a Witcher so making her one as an adult out of nowhere doesn’t make sense
@daianspahava8279 1st- where did you saw that adults can't pass the trials? The trials were traditionally done to children, that doesn't mean it can't be done to adults. Uma was an adult, and he survived. 2nd- according to the wiki, there are female witchers. Most, if I'm not wrong, from the school of the cat. They're REALLY rare, but they still exist. 3rd- Ciri has potential powers, but controlling them was always her problem. But she was, still, vulnerable. The Witcher mutations give better strength, better reflexes, better healing, better sight... And Ciri always preferred to fight using melee combat, instead of using her magic abilities (that she struggles to control). So, since she decided to fight monsters, having the witcher's abilities help. A lot. Saying it doesn't make sense for her to become a Witcher because of her magic powers is like saying it makes no sense buying a bike if you own a car... 4th- it was not "out of nowhere". It's literally one of the "good endings" of the last game. 5th- we don't even know, for sure, that she passed the trials. All we saw was Ciri drinking a potion. Maybe her bloodline gave her enough endurance to be able to drink some versions of the potions... We don't know, because we don't know the story of the game yet. Stop creating "plot holes" to be mad at. When the game is published we will find out. If you still don't like the premise of the game, just don't buy it.
If you can't see the difference non feminizing Witcher 4 vs Feminine Witcher 3, you are woke. By the way Ciri ages very slowly too. No way is this game 10 20 40 50 years later after Witcher 3. Witchers don't age quickly, and Ciri is one. She also has magical bloodline which ages slow. So Ciri should age doubly as slow as anybody else. It would be the year 2095 for her to look like this trailer showed us to look like. Geralt looked good in Killing monster trailer and in game. No real difference just cinematic vs non cinematics. Why make her a Witcher at all? It destroys the storyline and she's already way better than Geralt in Witcher 3 anyways. To make her a witcher is a downgrade of her abilities. Try thinking more about the argument before posting a reply that I a casual Witcher fan can decimate in a matter of seconds. PS look at that woman who was going to be hung in the killing mobster trailer. She was gorgeous. She wasn't even in the game. Why not beautify Ciri when shes the main star of the game? 😂
