    Hi sweet friends! Sorry I talk so fast towards the end. I’m trying to keep my videos down to 20 minutes or less, plus I did 5 DIY’s this time! WARNING to my farmhouse fans: this video contains hardcore boho decor, lol! Wishing everybody a beautiful day!😍🌸🌸😘🥰🥰 Love you guys!

      Great video! So many creative, fun ideas for the boho lovers! I was so relating to your “pain” with the pink table cloth. You have no idea how many projects I’ve thrown in the trash and then the “heck no, I’m gonna win” spirit flared up and I’d dig it back out and finish it. Those projects are usually the ones that turn out the best in the end! You defeated the pink tablecloth and hope the little cigarette smoking lady has given up the habit!! Much love! Teresa

    If you ever need to heavy starch something again, you can make your own heavy starch solution from corn, wheat, or potato starch ( cornstarch is what I use) and water.
    You dip the item in the starch and hang it outside to dry. I do historical costuming and we do petticoat this way.
    You can use color remover ( not bleach! Bleach destroys fabric) to remove color first. Rit dye makes one.
    I loved the tray, actually I loved all of the crafts in this video. I'm watching the whole series.

    I always add a bit of water to MODGE PODGE to cut down on the stickiness & add a couple of coats. It really helps dry better. Great inspiration!!

    Next time your needing a heavy starch try Sta-Flo concentrate and use it full strength. I’m from Texas and that’s what we use to crease our jeans. They literally will stand up by themselves. It comes in a big blue jug! It’s GOLD!

    • @HotHumblePie

      They are doilies if they are about a plate size. Once they get bigger than that and go on a small table like a tablecloth and hang over the edges, then they are a crocheted table cloth. Thank you! Have a beautiful weekend my friend! 🥰🌸😘😘🌸

    Fabric stiffener if they still sell it, old school from the days when you draped figurines with cloth.

    • @HotHumblePie
      @HotHumblePie  4 роки тому

      I was going to use a liquid starch or fabric stiffener but I would’ve had to use many bottles since the rope they used for crocheting was very absorbent. To keep the cost down I opted for a heavy stiff glue, watered it down so it would perform more like a starch and I still have 2/3 of the bottle left. Thank you! Have a beautiful weekend my friend! 🥰🌸😘😘🌸

      On that bottle? How did printer ink play into that blend? What kind of printer ink? I'm sorry if I'm bugging, I just really think those bottles turned out so very pretty! Especially the bronze and gold one! I admire your knowledge of color so much.

    • @HotHumblePie
      @HotHumblePie  3 роки тому +1

      @@lindaqualls6479 I had to go back and rewatch the video! It’s been a long time. I thought you were talking about something else. As you know one bottle is green and one bottle was clear. The green bottle was lightly sprayed with a little bit of a terra-cotta colored spray paint and then misted with gold spray paint. The clear bottle was spray-painted black and then misted with gold spray paint. I then took puffy paint that was iridescent glitter gold and did a little bit of a 3-D effect along the designs. I also used a permanent black marker in places. The end result was really beautiful. I don’t think the camera did it justice.

    Hi, new to your channel, but just as a suggestion and a solution to your problem with the table cloth. Next time buy powdered starch. You can mix it as thick as you want it and it will be stiff as a board. I live in the south. I don't know where you are, but you can buy it at Walmart.

    • @HotHumblePie
      @HotHumblePie  4 роки тому

      I was going to use a starch but I would have used about 3 to 4 bottles and it would not have been cost effective. I opted for a glue I knew I could water down and make it perform like a starch. Although I have to price powdered starch because I don’t know anything about how much that is. It may work in the future. Thank you for the tip! I still have 2/3 of the glue bottle left. Lovely, if you use a wood conditioner prior to staining. your stain with be less blotchy. Also , If you overlap the edges of your print and then cut a wavy line down through both of them, the line will be less noticeable when you put it back together and it wont reduce the size of the print.

    Wow!!! I love the mandela journey piece at the end! I was dying when you realized the latex paint filled in all the holes!! Ugh!!! That was truly a labor of love! Soooo cool you bought them premade too, easy breezy boho designs, well, if they don't come in pink! Lol! Oiy! ) : The tray in the beginning was amazing too! I never thought to just add the design to a piece with the mod lodge! Duh! I was thinking everyone would paint them and I like painting, but not that much! Lol! ( : The bottles were soooo awesome too! I am going to be making some halloween bottles with those I saw from Jennifer, "A Little Bit of Calm and Crazy!" They came out Soooo cute! My youngest, the costume designer, will use them for props on a photo shoot they are doing with some customers they are making right now! Soooo fun! ( : I love, love, love the boho style for every day, though! They totally look moroccan! ( : Amazing job as usual! ( : ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Tracy ( :

    Blown away! Wow! My grandmother used to buy a jug of liquid starch called Stay-Flo by Purex (you can get it on Amazon if you can't find it in your local stores) and soak those doilies and crochet table scarves in it then when it dries, it is hard. Your viewers might want to look for it and use it to replicate your last DIY. I think it would be much easier and cheaper. Bless your heart for your effort, but it finally paid off for you :-) You never cease to amaze me, Holly! Beautiful stuff. I hope your daughter knows just how blessed she is to have such a talented mama to help her decorate her home :-) Blessings to you!

    Loved it all! I use cornstarch to still make any fabrics stiff instead of spray starch, my grandmother taught me this trick!! Makes a big difference, and paint goes in so incredible!! They used it as starching their clothing , back in their days !! They starched every thing!! I absolutely loved hearing and watching you use the puffy paint!! I have some also about that old!! Haha!! Hey, I love your crafts. Such heartfelt thoughts and ideas. I have always loved this....decor and clothing style. But lolol. Back in my day we called it Hippie Chic. Isn't that funny?? I also did a craft with my daughter years ago and we used a bottle of " liquid starch" we took a piece of a regular sheet and soaked it in this stuff. Then we let it dry over a balloon. They next day it would stand up by itself. It was a Halloween ghost. I am serious. It just stood up with no support. Just thought I would let you know. Thank you for your lovely ideas💜

    • @HotHumblePie
      @HotHumblePie  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Vicki! It’s definitely a hippie style😜. This is a part three of three parts and I mention it’s a hippie style in my part two. I have used starch on sheets too and it’s amazing! The reason I couldn’t do it on this craft is because the material was extremely absorbent and I was worried I would run into a problem with the second and third coat if it wasn’t stiff enough since it was so big. I would also need 2 to 3 bottles of liquid starch and that was not as cost-effective as getting a strong papier-mâché glue like Elmers glue all and watering it down so that it performs like starch. I still have 2/3 of that bottle left. 😄 At the end I wasn’t sure I really needed it stiff, because of the way I ended up hanging it up, LOL. You live you learn but thank you so much for sharing the tip because I love that and it helps me a lot! Very sweet of you! Much love to you my friend ❤️💕😘😘🥰🌸🌸🌸

    OMG, I'm so sorry you went through all that with the tablecloth trying to stiffen it. I can't imagine that you haven't heard of Stiffy Fabric Stiffener. It's been around for years. It's by Plaid look it up. It will make those crocheted items so stiff that you can even make them into bowls or ANY form.

    I have a gorgeous crochet qs bedspread that my Mum made for me early in my 40 year marriage which I'd love to display somehow but its size is causing issues. Any ideas from anyone would be appreciated. It's just so heavy it isn't even suitable as a throw, I've tried. Love the boho, you speak to my soul with these projects. Off to find some doilies etc since hubby got rid of mine when we moved recently.

      I think you'd have to see that more like wall paper, and tack it up using a staple gun to the actual wall, if that's even feasible. Otherwise, maybe put it on a guest bed? Thanks for watching!

    For flat surface projects like this... I put 2 coats of mod podge. Let dry completely. Put my paper or material down how I want it. Put parchment paper over it and iron it. Absolutely no wrinkles. Then I put another coat of mad podge, let dry and put the parchment paper back over it and iron again. I learned this from another utuber. I can’t think of the channel name. It’s something with decoupage in the title.

    Great projects. Most things that have a bad oder can be set in the direct sunlight and the sun will remove the smell. I did that with the rope from Amazon and it worked. I've done it several items and it has never failed. I had a big pickle jar that I couldn't wash away the smell, I filled it with newspaper, set it aside for 24 hours. The newspaper absorbed the smell of pickle juice. 😊

      😂😂 Linda! Lucky for me I found the process relaxing like knitting. I was going to use a starch but I would have used about 3 to 4 bottles and it would not have been cost effective. I opted for a glue I knew I could water down and make it perform like a starch. I still have 2/3 of the bottle left. Thanks for watching Linda and for commenting! Have a beautiful weekend! 🥰😘🌸🌸😘

    I think it turned out really nice and after all the labor I am glad you are also happy with it! :) I also agree with not staining the wood. It would have been pretty stained but would have felt a little "dressed up" and stole some of the show of the pretty table cloth / doily. :) I have several of these that my great grandmother made and I've put them in embroidery hoops with different pieces of ribbon and cloth hanging from them. I ve hung them in front of windows and they look so pretty with the sun shining through. Thanks so much for sharing your talent today :)

    You did a fantastic job with all 5 of your DIY projects. I’m in my 60s and I crochet some of those doily’s as teen. And there was a powder starch that you mixed with water dipped your finish doily in it , and when totally wet took it out laid it out flat to dry and it was stiff. Can’t remember the name of it but I think it is from the same company that makes spray starch.

    • @HotHumblePie
      @HotHumblePie  4 роки тому

      Thank you 😘🥰🌸🌸❤️ A lot of people have mentioned that there was a powdered starch. They sell powdered starch still that you add water to and I believe that’s what you were dipping the doilies in. I was just worried that I would have to dip it more than once and it was so big that I didn’t know how to do that unless I crunched it up and ruined the stiffness the first time. I needed it to stay laying flat. I will look into starch in a spray bottle if I do it again. I mean I will mix the powdered starch and put it in a spray bottle. Thank you for watching and commenting. 😘🥰🌸🌸💕😘
